So, I started playing Okami HD earlier for the second time through and the PS3 has frozen on me twice today.  Played Sly Cooper for several hours as a test and had no problems.  Never had problems with the PS3 freezing the first time I played through the game.  Any ideas?

Guns don't kill people, chemical warfare and weapons of mass destruction do.

Have you seen the thing about how John McCain was caught playing online poker on his iPhone while Congress was discussing whether to go to war with Syria?  That sounds like something that should be an Onion headline, but it was actually true...

Well to be fair, his mind was pretty fucking clearly already made up on the matter and nothing he would have heard would have changed his opinion.

All I'm sayin' is I'm not surprised....

EDIT: YOU BASTARDS, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THEM?!

I'm pretty sure this is "satire" in only the most tightly defined technical sense possible.

So, Ariel Castro hung himself.

3D printing drugs?

I'm loving the developments being made with 3D printers now; whatever risks come with them, both anti-self defense laws and anti-drug laws are going to end up taking a huge hit when the price on 3D printers goes down.  (Never mind all the other cool stuff that is being done with them, like plans for a potential moon base.)  Putting aside for a moment the morons who are going to want a printer so they can pretend to be Walter White, it may greatly assist in lowering production costs for pharmaceuticals.

Whether or not the media's hammering it or not, I don't think many people in the US hold any of the Syrian rebel groups in higher regards than they do Assad. I think the general assumption is that the rebels are pretty closely tied to Al Quaeda, so...

Agreed there.  I just think that if the media was pointing this out regularly that politicians would be forced to at least make an attempt at justifying their war-hawk attitudes.  Given the low approval rate for intervening in Syria (lower than Congress' approval rate, based on polling) it seems that they don't give a damn if people silently dislike the idea of intervening on behalf of the rebels.

I'll toss my hat into the ring.  This is my favorite Cyrus meme:

Heh, and it's telling that despite a powder keg in the Middle East and contaminated oceans wreaking havoc with the ecosystem, we're mostly talking about a hot mess pop-tart acting like a hot mess pop-tart.  Still, I do like this article that uses the incident to reflect on the hypocrisy of American cultural sensibilities: http://www.bust.com/in-defense-of-miley-cyrus-at-the-vmas.html

As far as I'm concerned it's because our news is 100% complete and utter shit and the average person doesn't know any better.  They think they're getting enough info/the whole picture and they aren't getting anywhere close to it with the "news".

Indeed.  Seriously, Syrian rebels were caught with sarin gas and this should be blasted to the heavens by every news network in the country.  It's entirely possible that the gassing was a false flag operation to get the US involved, and I'd really rather not get involved anyway--other countries can play World Police, too--but we damn sure shouldn't get involved and pick a side until we know who is doing what.

Also, RE American news and Cyrus, The Onion nails it.

That Disney Logic bit is classic.

This one has made its way around the net a few times, but it never seems to get old:

Judge declares NYPD use of "Stop & Frisk" unconstitutional. Well, no shit. It's a clear violation of civil rights. I'd be irate if that happened to me.

Exactly.  It's a clear abuse of a more basic policy known as the "tort search", which is intended to allow police for search for weapons on people they come into contact with while on the job for their own safety.  It was never intended to be used for police to harass random people.

Girl with a long and troubled history of seizures gets a lot better with the use of a special type of medical marijuana.  I don't advocate the MJ, if people don't want to use then that's good for them to uphold.... but I suppose it's sad when something that can be potentially beneficial in certain instances and comes naturally is so stigmatized usually for stigma's sake (or at least in overblown effects).

Agreed.  On the other side of that spectrum, I beat my head against a wall repeatedly a week ago while arguing with a page admin that posted a meme on Facebook claiming that grass cures lung cancer.  I repeat, cures.  And, of course, every article and blog post he linked to on the subject referenced the same fucking study which said that it significantly slowed the progress of lung cancer in mice, but did not cure it.
