Beyond Good and Evil HD didn't grab me so I found myself pulling out the Sly Cooper Collection to tie up some loose ends while waiting for the Assassin's Creed Trilogy to come in the mail.  Opened all the safes in Sly 1 to complete the platinum and I'm working my way through Sly 2 which I stopped previously a bit less than halfway through the game (DAMN YOU MGS!), Sly 3 is next.

Just finished Okami.  Wonderful game and wonderful experience since I got stuck and was never able to complete it back on PS2.  I'll be making a second run some time soon to polish off the trophies I missed but for now I'm very curious about Beyond Good and Evil HD which I missed out on last generation.  I'm also very happy that the trophy for getting four blooming trees was not as difficult as I had anticipated.  I got it on the first run merely by being awesome (0 deaths :D) and putting a significant amount of time into exploration.  I was expecting to have to make a speed run to qualify for a certain time and was happy to find that total time spent in the game doesn't factor in.

On the subject of warning labels, I think my personal favorite is one I saw on a chainsaw recently warning you to 1. not turn the chainsaw on while holding it next to your leg and 2. not operate it while drunk.

Haha makes sense!

I always get annoying on the subway, where you basically see a warning for every goddamn move you might make.
- Please, hold on to railing.
- Please, mind your step.
- Please, do not move while vehicle is in motion.
- Please, mind the gap when subway arrives at the platform (which is like, to scale, this ___________________ wide in real life).

Even when a coffee cup warns you it's hot.... guaranteed because some asswipe sued for things in life that should kind of obvious.

I thought of another great one.  A car commercial showed a truck snowboarding down a mountain and the fine print said something to the effect of: "FANTASY: trucks cannot snowboard down mountains.  DO NOT ATTEMPT."  Really?  REALLY?  Because lord fucking knows someone is going to try to ski in their truck if you don't put up a DO NOT ATTEMPT message!

They could have cut down the number of brush techniques and ended the game after Orochi and people would have probably still been happy with it.

IIRC that was the plan. Game was gonna be a trilogy, but then Capcom. So they had to combine stuff.

Go figure.  That makes sense given that the game builds up Orochi as TEH ULTIMATE EVIL and then suddenly 'oh yeah, and something survived.'  It feels like they combined two (or more) games into one.  Well, I'm not objecting.

I'm about 17 hours into Okami and have beat Orochi and made my way to the capital.  The festival was a lot of fun.  The game continues to impress me.  They could have cut down the number of brush techniques and ended the game after Orochi and people would have probably still been happy with it.  Instead, they added a lot more content and added more to the story.

By the way, I'm loving some of the more overt Zelda tributes like racing a courier in a field/hub.

EDIT:  I also spent 100k on learning the piss attack.*  TOTALLY WORTH IT.

*The piss attack is an 'insult' that causes enemies to drop a dragon fang instantly.

Just did an early morning run-through of Journey (my first playthrough).  I offer the following review:

HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME.

Now back to Okami.

Thing is, none of that matters to conservatives if they're religious.  The only thing religious people need or care to know is that the Republican candidate is anti-abortion and anti-gay and s/he will have their vote.

Correct.  And it's very unfortunate situation because many politicians that would otherwise not give a damn about gays or abortion feel the need to appease that base.

Continuing with Okami.  I just passed the Tsuta Ruins and I'm still loving it.  Between the main story and some playing around I've done (treasure hunting and whatnot) I'm about eight hours in and it feels like I'm just getting started.

My limited experience with Facebook and family tells me the two shouldn't ever mix

Having (extended) family members on Facebook I must agree.  Messages range from banal at best to some nasty political diatribes at worst.  I'm far from Obama's biggest fan, but I am not even getting near Facebook for the next week or so so I don't have to listen to ranting about how the Commie Muslim rigged the election.

I finally managed to start Okami (HD).  This is the third time I've paid for the game and I don't regret it one bit.  I don't know how much of an improvement the HD is over the original but the game is beautiful.  The trophies don't hurt, either.  I'm looking forward to the journey.

For PS3 owners:  Any glitches?  I've been seeing some reviews on Amazon talking about major slowdown and even crashes mid-game, in 2 in particular.  Some have even refused to play it without a patch.  But maybe they're just whiny.

For those who got the special edition:  How are the art book and the soundtrack?  Are they worth the extra $20?  (Well, $40 now, technically....)

If anyone happens to be interested, I'm on Facebook.  One of many Thomas Meister's there, it seems.  (HINT: long-haired dude in Texas.)

So after I've come to US, the ads have nearly tripled. Not to mention the mandatory pro-Romney advertisement before the beginning of every second video on Youtube.

I've been watching some other videos and it strikes me pretty amusing how large followers both presidents can have, and by followers I mean straight-out devotees who go to these campaign gatherings and have stuff like "I LOVE ROMNEY" signs with them. I think I prefer the cynicism and negative attitude towards politicians that we have back home over this.

I'm being flooded with a constant barrage of local political ads on YouTube about how CANSECO IS OUT FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS or GALLEGO VOTES 100% WITH ENVIRONMENTAL RADICALS and it is driving me insane.  I'm to the point where I only slightly give a fuck about who wins which election as long as that shit stops.

The US puzzles me. It seems like you guys are trying to ban everything from Soda to toys because of the potential harm they may cause. I even heard that microwaves have a safety label on them after some woman tried to dry her cat in one, then there was that whole "sue McDonalds for having hot coffee" business. Yet, somehow you guys still insist on having easily accessible guns and wonderful products like this. Because that's obviously the safest place for your shotgun to be, at arms reach for sleepy papa, little Timmy and even Fido. I know the world is full of absurd crap like this, but I just don't get it.
I don't think of it as particularly absurd.  The the rest of the developed world is banning everything from soda to toys because of potential harm they may cause, the US is simply following suit but not allowing the nanny state to over-extend itself in regards to one particular category.  Frankly, I'm happy the citizens of the US (or rather, the citizens of certain states in the US) put their foot down there.

EDIT:  If it seems any more consistent to you, the area trying to ban large sodas (NYC) has some of the most strict gun laws in the country.

I feel like some bureaucrat was bored and decided to randomly do something to justify his position so now we all have to suffer.  It's that arbitrary.

I can't help but wonder if the government coming down on Buckyballs so hard had something to do with them being the first company to contest a ruling in over a decade.  It smells of trying to make an example of them.
