It's time for a random story that came to mind recently from the first message board I ever visited, the about.com heavy metal board, when I was 13-15 or so:

We had a very...distinctive set of members there with a taste for rough humor; regulars knew how to deal with it but once in a while new folks would misunderstand and get pretty offended.  Some new guy got into a dust up with a regular over a joke and threatened to hunt him down and kick his ass in real life. Our dear Hogman, while normally a jolly fellow, was not one to take shit from anybody.  So, he hand-drew and scanned for the guy (ahh, the olden days before everyone had Photoshop...) a map to his house in Nashville.  He also took the liberty of drawing a route to a nearby cemetery on the map with a note saying, "You might want to check out this place and pick out a plot before you visit me."  There was also a note informing the man that he should "bring [his] mother along because Hogman hasn't had a good whore in a while."  Truly though, I think the icing on the cake was the long-haired shotgun-wielding stick figure standing in front of his house with the arrow pointing to him that read "HOGMAN".

That awkward moment when you like an anti-drone warfare page on Facebook and find out that the admin is a 9/11 truther and he goes on a long rant through ten separate comments after you politely suggest that posting about such things hurts his cause....

...Not-so-politely comparing 9/11 Truthers to "aliens in Roswell" and "Gov't is hiding Bigfoot" conspiracy theorists may have been a bit harsh, though. Or maybe not.  Either way that was in my second post on that thread.

I also may have said something about how a page advocating against abuse of drones is not supposed to be a Loose Change support group in my second reply after I got a bit annoyed with him.

Unfortunately for this guy he had the bad reaction and he didn't get it treated right away because he wanted to "be a man".

I grew up in a culture that put a premium on manliness and always hated that shit.  Particularly stupid when you're dealing with poisoning or anything else you can't just 'walk off'.

I thought all scorpions were pretty much deadly =/

Fortunately, no.  In any case, I had to pop Alavert like candy for a few hours (reminded me of my days with severe airborne allergies prior to getting on Xolair where I had to deal with my throat swelling up all the time), but between that and some Advil and an ice pack I'm fine, if pretty annoyed.  I never expected to find a scorpion there.

Also, that shit prior to the scorpion was the first time in years--literally--that I had ever cursed at anyone or insulted anyone during an online argument.  (I can harshly criticize one's argument, but I try not to insult people.)  This leaves me feeling like I need to take an IQ test to make sure that level of stupid didn't cause me to drop a few points. :(

EDIT: Also, lol at Boss Spider.

I believe we had a discussion about SJW's recently in the news thread...

So, after a mostly good day of watching Battlestar Galactica I made the stupid, STUPID mistake of getting into an argument on a Facebook thread about the Zimmerman case.  After the usual frustration and disgust that I get from dealing with morons who think making up random shit is better than paying attention to available evidence and my frustration and disgust at myself for getting into that argument in the first place and then spending an extended period of time responding to those morons, I decided to take a shower to help wash off some of the digust.

WELL! It turned out that a Spider Knight (scorpion:  a spider with armor and a lance) had conveniently decided to defy the law of gravity and hide out on my (hanging) bath towel so he could launch an assassination attempt when I used said towel on my back after the shower.

So now I'm monitoring the swelling on my back AND the swelling in my throat to see just how allergic I am since it's the first time I've been stung by one. (If you're wondering, I have a history of severe allergies to everything but animals and meat, so, yes, verifying how much my throat is going to swell is a precursor for going to the hospital, rather than simply noting that my throat is swelling.)  Meanwhile I will watch Battlestar Galactica some more.

Yeah, you can have more than four wisdom teeth.  The guy that I went to said that the max he'd ever seen was thirteen. :(

Random thought:

Whenever I'm playing Bioshock I feel compelled to listen to Django Reinhardt.

Random thought 2:

I don't give a fuck how intellectual the topic of discussion at a message board is--it can be classical music, advanced metaphysics, or quantum electrodynamics (classical music in this case)--having a twenty five character minimum for posting is just fucking EVIL.  I'm not known for my brevity, but sometimes a simple "No." or a name in response to a poll is all that's required.  Speaking of which, between that new 25 character rule and a new member that seems to have posted roughly twenty polls in a day the boys over on that board are getting riled up.  It looks like there might be a riot or a strike* or something.

*(Yeah, that'd work out real well..."CONGRATULATIONS MEN!  ALL THE WHINY ASSHOLES THAT DON'T LIKE OUR ADMINISTRATION STYLE DECIDED TO QUIT USING OUR BANDWIDTH FOR FREE!)

Why not?

I have imjustmakingthisup(A T)hotmail(d o t)com

When was it mandated that a personal email had to be completely serious?
That's why they invented work emails AFAIK

Well, that's fine.  But why would you apply for a job with that email? That's just silly.

This.  No matter how qualified you are, the chances of you getting a job with an email like that are slim to none.

And there's nothing wrong with goofy personal email addresses (even though hers wasn't meant to be goofy. apparently she just loves munchin' on cock).  Just don't use said goofy email address to apply to jobs.

A cousin of mine had that 'problem' for a while.  His mother left him alone with a house when he was fifteen, so naturally it quickly became the official high school party place/fucking joint, so it was deemed HisName's Love Shack.  Soon enough he decided to use loveshack85@somethingoranother.com as his e-mail address, including the one he used for applications with potential employers.  For some reason they weren't impressed with a guy who spent eight years getting a bachelor's degree and used that as his e-mail address on applications; he finally got the picture when a potential employer asked him about the 'strange' e-mail address during an interview and got a separate one for work related stuff.

Oh and Akanbe?  I had to have seven wisdom teeth removed some years ago.  I feel your pain. :(

This story pisses me off. A lot. http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/27/us/washington-soldier-dog/index.html?iref=storysearch

I don't care how you feel about the troops and what they are doing, but you do not fuck with a mans dog.

What an asshole.  Frankly, I give kudos to that soldier for asking around about it (and hopefully filing a lawsuit in the future) rather than just beating an answer out of the guy.  I'm pretty sure those who would take that approach are not a small minority, in particular among soldiers.

Uhhh, yeah Urban Dictionary pretty much summed it up.  They have some good ideas once in a while but it generally consists of whining about the excesses of a straw man version of feminism, Bill Maher style.  I'm pretty sure there's a MRA Reddit floating around somewhere if someone wants to venture in and take a look.

And yes, Ashton, it's also used by morons as an "I win" card, much like declaring your opponent racist and then running away.
