So, I was at the post office today and decided to look at the cork-board to see what kind of weird and random crap was stuck up; it was the usual stuff: The reincarnation of Pancho Lama (Yes, I just combined Pancho Villa and Dalai Lama >.>) wants you to join the 'spiritual' war against the gringos; an ACCEPT JESUS OR GO TO HELL ad from Church of God's Eternal Kindness; lost dog (well, fortunately, there wasn't a lost pet ad this time), etc, etc. and I saw a new one: It was something like Patriots of Southwest Texas advertising a seminar titled something to the effect of 'Surviving in the New Socialist America' and the ad described how the speaker was a Pole born in 'Hitler times' (whatever that is) who had lived under the Soviet Union and was going to talk about the rhetoric used then vs what's used now and how it's similar, how to find jobs, how to umm.....be scared of any politician with a hyphen and a D behind their name I guess was the take home point. Said the first seminar was free and then you could pay for the series. I was amused. I think my favorite part was 'Born in Hitler times'. I'm sort of half-seriously considering going to the first seminar (free) for entertainment value but I'm also half-seriously worried that they'll think I'm a Stalinist spy or something because I have long hair.
RE: medical problems. Yeah, they're a bitch. Unidentified problems with my wrists (the specialist thought it might be carpal tunnel, then decided it wasn't and after some research told me to leave Texas so I could 'find a smarter doctor'), in addition I have fibromyalgia that for some reason affects areas which make walking a painful task (let's not go into the exact details), exercise is nearly impossible because I can't find shoes that fit and have to wear crocs--not technically a medical issue, but it weighs into them--my metabolism is three times slower than the norms so I really need a near vegetarian diet to help keep my weight down if I can't exercise BUT I have food allergies to most every vegetable and fruit I've tried that crop up if I eat them regularly, even if I try different combinations. Oh, and I have extremely severe airborne allergies (though I now have Xolair injections that help a lot with those) that used to lead to me needing to carry Alavert pills around everywhere. I would go through a box of seventy in three or four days because my throat would swell up so often. As of now I'm okay with day to day stuff but the allergies prevent me from getting any new clothes because of a reaction to a chemical or dye on most that won't wash out. It also makes getting and reading used books a bitch sometimes. :( What frustrates me is that as a result of the allergies I'm stuck with band t-shirts and jeans that I've had for years until it gets better. I want FIREFLY T-SHIRTS AND JEANS DAMN IT. And some nice dress shirts and such. And a suit and fedora. And now I'm reaching meshgearfox level rambling so I'll be quiet.

Glad to see that you're feeling better, Dice.
And I think of this place (and one or two others) as part of my social life, I think that's the norm for a lot of people. It's a much larger part of my social life than I care to admit, though.

So, I'm minding my own business, trying to kick off my morning with some Dr. Who and a friend IMs me with this: https://twitter.com/KimKierkegaardTalk about compulsively readable, this stuff is hilarious. EDIT: I happened to be in a Wal-Mart clothing department today and came across a set of hipster fedoras. (I don't know what the fuck else you call a fedora that's checker patterned black and white or is white with a large gold Corona beer band.) It was agonizing to see such a noble creature (okay...hat!) reduced to such a disgraceful state. I'm pretty sure I know what a PETA member feels like when looking at fur clothing now.

So, yesterday I finished the post-season 4 specials of Doctor Who including the stuff about the origins of 'the drums of war' and the whole 'death knocks four times' thing. This morning the cat wakes me up semi-early in the morning wanting in the house, I let her in and go back to bed and later, right when I start to fall back asleep I'm awakened by THUMP THUMP - THUMP THUMP - THUMP THUMP - THUMP THUMP I go check to see what the HELL is going on and it turns out that the cat has has her paw stuck under the door of a closet and is pulling on the door trying to get loose in a quite accurate representation of that rhythm. Funny in retrospect, not so much when you're half asleep and have the fresh memories of the show in your head.

River Tam, Darth Vader and Bill O'Reilly, so what are my chances?
Two bad-asses and one excellent piece of bait. I think you'll do fine. Zombies are attracted to sound so all you have to do is mention liberals or something to get O'Reilly screaming and then take off while he's busy ranting.

dinner was: wild rice (made in pressure cooker), roast beef, and a good local ale.
dessert: rye whiskey and a brownie and xcom
That sounds like an awesome meal/dessert. Kudos on rye whiskey.

Thanks, Dice. When I posted these to my Facebook I put emphasis on the sex change part in the titles. As if a school teacher committing suicide wasn't enough, they had to make a freak show out of it.
It is indeed too bad that they had to make a freak show out of it. The really sad part is that when I saw 'found dead' in Dice's post my first thoughts were 'Was she murdered?' and 'Was the murder because of the news about the sex change being released?' :( It didn't occur to me that it was a suicide until Starmongoose's post mentioned that. (I hadn't read the articles yet.)
