I do think that Final Fantasy VII is overhyped as far as RPGs as a whole are concerned, but I do think it is arguably one of the best, if not the best in the Final Fantasy series. It was my first RPG on the PSX and I would not have been introduced to some of my more favorite RPGs had it not been for FFVII. And it definitely was a fun play and had some great atmosphere. I sometimes just leave Cloud standing in the middle of the snow at Icicle Inn to hear the music and watch the light shining out the windows, or hang out in Wall Market to hear the awesome theme (gotta love that bass line!)
Congratulations on 15 years FFVII.

The battle system is still ass...
That's putting it lightly. The Paradigm system is my least favorite battle system because there is no involvement whatsoever. Even the new feature of being able to capture monsters is essentially a shallow addition considering it's just adding another character that you have no real control over.

FFIX wasn't bad. It was a huge improvement over Final Fantasy VIII.
But still, I could never really get passed the strange cartoon-like design of all the characters. It was really off-putting.

Final Fantasy VIII (8) is by far the worst Final Fantasy of the series, in my opinion. There are no qualities about the game that make it worth playing. Even if you're a graphics nut, Final Fantasy IX has it beat in that category so VIII is left with nothing.
You make a compelling argument, sir. I was just stating my opinion on the matter. If it would satisfy you I would be happy to argue why I think Final Fantasy VIII is the worst in the series.

I'm not expecting this game to be scary, and I think anyone who does will be sorely disappointed. I just expect this game to be fun and provide the throwbacks to the classic Resident Evil games.
Silent Hill: Downpour is the game I'm getting for fear moments.

I see three distinct styles/tones in the trailer.
-Leon in an old school, spooky zombie-filled environment (yay!) -Chris using cover and fighting gonados like RE5 (boo!) -Some Wesker-like dude kicking zombie ass with fists of fury (interesting...)
Let's hope the co-op isn't nearly as forced as 5.
You know, I wonder if they are going to separate scenarios with those styles during the actual gameplay. Chris might have the action-oriented missions and Leon will have the old-school horror scenarios. I actually wouldn't mind that very much.

I'm so hyped for the trailer! RE is one of my favorite gaming franchises, even if RE5 wasn't nearly as good as RE4 I still liked it a lot!
What I'd really like to see in this game is Ada having more screen time!
From earlier leaks, it seems like Ada will be getting her own separate mission that will unlock after completing the main story, a la 4RE. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1216844p1.html "We're also told Ada Wong will have a playable role in the game, though not immediately. It appears as though the Ada storyline will become available to players after the Chris and Leon arcs have been completed, plus a third primary narrative featuring a new character. Any of the three main story branches will be selectable early on in the game, allowing players to see each storyline through to completion before starting another one. "

Sorry for reviving an old topic, but this new information could be a deciding factor in whether or not people here will give this game a rent or a purchase. Here is a new trailer which confirms that Nemesis and Nicholai from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be in the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJBRoohdHLcGameinformer also had a section describing a demo played that described Nemesis's role: "This bioharzardous assassin is malfunctioning when we encountered him. fortunately, we had previously extracted a controlling agent from a tyrant, which we now inject into nemesis' bloodstream.....abomination fires a devastating gatling gun at us. after absorbing enough ammo he titan topples coming back under umbrellas influence. He drops the mini-gun, picks up his trade mark rocket launcher, and wanders off into the city while groaning STARS"

I'm most likely going to wait on this one. GTAIV was a big step back from San Andreas that I'm going to have to see some youtube footage first before I get it.
Screw professional reviews. They gave GTAIV a 10 and suckered me and a bunch of friends in - we were all disappointed.
