Heh.. yea I didnt expect much in terms of client graphical optimization with these betas. Are those new shots? or from someones test?

I am trying to find the client again, I uninstalled it thinking we needed to once again.

/shrug I have 4 guildies that got it in the past 2 days for $54.99 by turning down the $5 fee
5  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic (RPGFan Guild Edition) on: November 29, 2011, 10:52:32 PM
The games retail price is $54.99 EA is charging people $5 for a shot to get early access (all 5 days are not a guarantee, its all pending on when you enter your early access code on how many extra days you get)

So what I was griping about is how EA is charging people $5 for early access (and hiding the price for it, they only show pre-order $59 early access games to buy right now), I think its quite unheard of for any game.. especially MMOs to charge 1/3 of a monthly fee to play the game a few days early.

Its just a nickel and diming complaint.. I mean people got crazy over the $2-5 bank fees and this is not even a month long like a bank fee would be.

After not really liking the game all that much weekend beta 1.. this weekend I played with 2 friends and had a great time.  I actually ended up loving the Smuggler/Gunslinger class on the Republic side and will play that on launch. I am not giving into the EA BS where you pay $5 for a shot to play the game up to 5 days early, I hop they dont nickle and dime people to death in this game.

7  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on: November 16, 2011, 07:35:19 AM
Have it on the PS3 here.. about 20 hours in and so far not one issue with 2 characters and 10ish save files. The game really looks good on the PS3, only see some weird shadow rendering if I want to be picky.. but i usually turn of shadows if I can anyway.. they just distract mostly and make the game work harder.

Dont believe the anti-PS3 hype.. owned mine since 2009 and have had no issues on it whatsoever and I use mine daily as a media center and game console.. its pretty much on all day.

Had an early day.. just picked it up for my PS3 and plan to get lost for a few hours

Played all weekend to give it a real fair chance.. overall I just feel meh on it. My highest level character is a 15 Bounty Hunter, I found the Empires starter area the best and the BH with the Hutt and Cantina storyline (directly from Return of the Jedi pretty much)... after the prologue the quests seem to get less focused and more of the same ol MMO thing. The Mass Effect_esque storymode is still abundant but the same really feels lacking in almost all RPG type elements to me (just pick a look, class and go! no real customizations untl talent trees at 10+)

Anyway I will check out the next weekend beta and see if things change, but I am not sure this will be a day 1 must have for me.
10  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Kingdoms of Amalur on: November 07, 2011, 10:13:18 AM
I just registered over at the Kingdom of Amalur/38 Studios forums and have been looking thru them and found out they created a huge world (Amalur) and centuries of lore as a backdrop to this and probably other games they release.. that MMO, they still call it 'Copernicus', is still awhile off it seems, but we get Kingdom of Amalur in early 2012 to introduce us into that world.

I have been a fan of everything I read about Green Monster Games/38 studios since their inception so my hopes for this game have climbed even higher.. lets hope they can pull it off.

Just saw some more on this over at IGN.. game is starting to get my radar going.. but im always apprehensive with EA.  I wonder if its a way for EA to have its own 'Dragon Age' type epic franchise.

Wait, what?

You mean, um, like the current franchise they have? What's it called?

Oh, right.

Dragon Age.

This property is owned by 38 Studios, not EA.  This is being published under the EA Partners program.  Developed by Big Huge Games.  Looked really good when I saw the alpha version.

I just caught on that it was 38 Studios who made this, I didnt think it was them because they always claimed to be making a MMO all this time.. so I didnt expect a console RPG.

And, why I said EA would like its own franchise is because Bioware always pull tricks (yes even if they are a division of EA).. they changed their Star Wars games to Mass Effect and their AD&D games to Dragon Age.

I hope its as open, deep and custom as they are touting.. the art style seems a bit Blizzard/WoW influenced to me.. not a bad thing just what I notice.

Anyway.. lets hope we get more info on this soon.
13  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Rune Factory Oceans announced for the PS3/Wii on: November 07, 2011, 06:58:09 AM
Think OP meant Tides of Destiny for thread title.. I was about to make a new thread.

Just picked up Rune Factory Tides of Destiny for the PS3 this weekend for me and my wife to play thru.  I have been looking for Rune Factory Frontier for the Wiii for awhile with no luck, so was happy to find this (last copy) at my Gamestop. So far the game seems really good, I don't know why it seems to be such a niche or unpopular game style. But I think this and the Atelier alchemist series of games are a really good change of pace for me.. and my wife loves them.

I love how things are laid out in the game, its pretty cool how you ride a giant golem to discover islands in the ocean to gain items, pets and components. Sure combat is pretty simple but I love how its all skill based and you can level up pretty much everything to customize your character to the way you want. I am only a few hours in so I am looking forward to getting deeper into this one.

Ugh...thank all that is holy that I have the guide. Otherwise I would've probably died in the swamp area not knowing where the most camouflaged bonfire to date was. ~.~

I feel like I'm too weak or something. o.O I've been leaving my summon sign around and pretty much everyone in this zone seems to have weapons that deal like...400-700+ when they're done comboing. My little blade only does 150ish max and my strongest arrow doesn't even clear 300. Yet for some reason I'm not dying as often as these people...>>;

Alot of people use the tower in Darkroot Garden to farm easy souls or even use the glitch to get endless souls - but this doesnt mean that they are good.
