That sux. Little lady washed mine once a few years ago so now every couple of weeks I clean it out and move anything I don't need often but want to keep into another wallet which stays in my desk, damn thing is about to explode lol.

Off to work for my second straight 10 hour today, although I may get lucky and finish early tonight...we'll see...

If memory serves me there is only one ally whom you don't have pretty much the exact location for, and even that one is "stumbled" across in a mission. Like I said, if memory serves me, short term memory is horrible, lol

Recruiting and then gaining their loyalty was some of the most fun I've ever had in a video game. And then using them to complete other missions as well as learning their back stories was also great fun. The game would have certainly been less without that inclusion, as well as pretty much only a two hour game, lol.

So I started Chapter Four on Dragon Quest IV, Day 4 on Parasite Eve and restarted Dead Rising 2, I'm just getting the shit kicked out of me by pretty much all the mini-bosses (I think I must suck at this game) and going to some tower in Wild Arms 3, this game is seriously under-rated, really good game!

Decisions, decisions, I want this bad! However, little lady wants GOW collection...hmmm, perhaps this is once that spending a little more at the old Gamestop won't get me in trouble, lol.
923  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: RPGs as Therapy on: September 28, 2011, 08:26:57 AM
One of my wife's friends had a stroke recently, and her therapists prescribed her an iPad.  They put games on it for her to play, for both physical and emotional recovery.  Physical because it helps her get the coordination back between her brain and her hands/fingers.  Emotional because succeeding at the games helps her feel that she's not a broken human being - she can do things, and she can learn things.

So there's an example of an actual doctor prescribing video games as actual therapy for an actual injury.  Felt worth mentioning.

When the little lady was first diagnosed they had hoped the tumor would remain stable, it didn't and the subsequent bleed into the brain caused all kinds of issues with mobility and her ability to organize her thoughts and her ability to then vocalize them. Her doctors felt video games were a good idea, and not just her playing but even watching me play. See, what she needed was both to be able to interact in some ways as well as feel normal. Now, I'm not going to argue whether it was/is true therapy or not. Because honestly I don't give a shit. What I do care about was it helped us have some semblance of normalcy during an otherwise horrific time. And, on a purely personal note, as I have stated before playing games enables me to escape the often overwhelming despair I feel due to our situation. I don't care if it's considered semantically a cure or not, it makes me feel better and bottom line is THAT is what matters to me. Dissenting viewpoints are welcome, but honestly unnecessary, because I simply don't care. It helps me cope, it helps her have fun and feel normal and that is all I really care about, not her being cured (which would be great but medically impossible at this time) or whether some feel the video game has any therapeutic value due strictly to the "definition" of the word. I guess like many arguments it's fun to argue but this is one I won't argue about. It helps us is bottom line, so call it whatever word you choose, I'll just smile, nod and say yes, you are right and go back to watching her play Lunar Silver Star :)

Dead Rising 2 is entertaining but man the timed mission system is not something I am in love with.

Jubby, you remind me of me, Nocturne was the first SMT game I ever played and by far the most complex and difficult, it totally opened my eyes to the world of what I will term serious RPG's and the rest as they say is history.

Been playing some Dead Rising 2 lately for fun, it is fun but I do feel the missions are timed a bit tightly, but the game is a lot of fun, after all who doesn't love killing zombies with a big teddy bear while wearing cowboy boots, a fishing hat, sunglasses and a tube top...on a guy! Dragon Quest IV is loads of fun and I actually started Parasite Eve on PSX, really impressed so far...looks like I started a couple of winners!
