My IQ just dropped 100 points from reading that, thanks Starmongoose, lol

OK sitting here reading this prompted me to do an EBAY search, got II and III at a great price, for various reasons I is proving to be elusive, so question, can II and III be played w/o knowledge of I or is it (at least) somewhat necessary for continuity?

Yes, just because of it's ending.  Do yourself a favor and get I.  Why own II and III and not have the very first one?

Oh no, don't misunderstand me, I will get it eventually. I was just wondering if story wise it was important to play before starting II.

So...work just called, and they need me, so much for my day off, but at least it's overtime.

Yeah. bought them from a guy who only had II and III from collection, and thanks for the heads up on I, hopefully price will stay somewhat decent.

Dincrest you bring up what I have often wondered about. The actual time some reviewers can possibly spend on a game. My son and I have over the years written reviews (basically for each other to argue about, lol) and he and I have often spoken about how we average @2 reviews a month, now thus admitted we typically will not write them until we finish them so it does take longer. But your point is a great one, and I agree 100% about a great example, that being FFXIII, great start then kinda WTF. I understand the reviewers may be doing this even full time, but given a 40-60 hr RPG how many can he/she possibly play to completion in say a month? Gotta be tough to do that many I'd imagine, at least based on my experience after one "blockbuster" type game I gotta take a break and play something more mindless for awhile.

Started Xenogears on the PSX, gonna finish it this time, also about half through with Hotel Dusk on DS and still trudging through Persona on PSP

Well, a bit of good news today, just got home from Duke, little lady's three year MRI (she has them ever two mos now, was every month first year) came back clean, showed no regrowth of tumor, they actually said we could at this point in time stop the therapy but we agreed to continue, it's saved her life so far why stop!
987  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Only 10% of all videogames sold are actually finished by gamers. on: August 17, 2011, 06:52:42 PM
If I go strictly by percentage I am way, way, way lower than 10%, however, any game I've done more than test out (in other words played for more than an hour or so) then my percentage is much, much higher. I freely admit I bought some games simply to have in my collection, oh I'll play them some just to fool around but I know I'll never finish them, others I buy with the purpose of playing and finishing, and the vast majority I do, a few here and there I lose interest in but overall I'd say I easily finish over 90% of games I actually play (that make sense?)

I swear to God I want that game so bad, I hope it's half as fun as it looks!
989  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Random and Amazing Pictures, Please! on: August 16, 2011, 08:57:07 AM
I like that! LOL, I want a huge poster of that for the little lady, she loves Teddy and would go crazy over it!

I feel confidant it's real as well...after all..."no trust". Ya know, seriously you have to wonder who falls for these scams. Although my best friends parents did invest their life savings in "off shore funds" (needless to say they lost it all) and they're not stupid by any means, they simply took the bait.
