Well fortunately America doesn't have tonberries, behemoths and chocobos so I doubt the drivers side will be as jarring 😋

Though we do have Molboros (in convenience stores and gas stations all over the place).

And they cause bad breath!

And make other people get poisoned, go crazy and try run away!

It's really hard to talk for hours... I usually liked activity dates because you can be quiet and do things together instead of awkwardly staring at each other across the table. Maybe relax and let things laspe into just enjoying the moment a few times?

I work full time and decided I wanted to finish getting my Bachelorate (with an English Major) so I have been working evenings and weekends through online courses at my local university. This course is the second to last one I will need and I am doing sociology. I have an essay to write and normally I write good essays by twisting the subject to fantasy and mythology and got great marks because I bring new ideas to well trodden paths. I don't think I can do that in sociology, so I am writing an essay on video games.

Took today off to work, so I guess i better get back to it.... 💻 📝 📄 📃 📑 📚 even if it's a beautiful day ☀️ outside and I rather 🔥➕📔

@Both: I honestly think that "gaming downtime" is as important as how much you thrust your players into the action as well. A lot of people bitched about FF13's lack of towns, and I think that was a big reason for it.  The Last of Us was especially great at making "safe zones" where you would chat with Elie are what really make a game memorable and feel more like "simple characters".  I also think the Tales series thrives really well on this because of their skits --- they tend to goof around half of them, and talk plot points that otherwise flesh out or wouldn't have made it into the game otherwise.

I agree, characterization is really important to me in RPGs and in addition to the story, I find it really develops them to have some downtime random scenes together that don't advance the story but do show more of the characters together in less serious situations. I love the skits and ATbs mentioned. I love just having some lighter random scenes. FF13 was just too serious all the time and never had any real downtime to sit back, relax, explore a town, chat with people and perhaps chat with your party members too. Star Ocean used to have your party break up and explore the town separately and you could chat to people outside of the party as well as some optional scenes.

I can't really think of any games that did naughty bits very well except perhaps for any that faded to black and let the players' imagination fill in what happened. Bioware sex bits are more laughable than sexy due to how clunky and awkward they look. The fade to black thing... You think Tidus and Yuna did more than splash around in the water near Macalania Woods? 💋

I'd love read your take in FF8 Dice!

Maxxs' recipe for end game boss peacemaker pudding (of friendship):
Code:
Fill half a cup with KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND (TABLE) and mix in DOUBLE CAST until it's nice and creamy.
Once ready, glaze with 2 or 3 spoons of MIMIC and serve cold.
There you have it. A sure way to end any fight before it even starts!

Why not just set it up so one person has 7777 against Emmy?
You can have a nap while it plays out.

I ended up getting that one Tooker :)

I have a list of games at home (on vacation at present) but I find iOS very difficult to browse due to the high amount of CRAP on there, so finding a game, any game, is daunting. Especially when they ask for prices for more than a few bucks due to the high proportion of crappy games and games that don't work very well. But free games also have their issues (hitting a wall because you don't want to pay every few hours).

The site seems to review visual novels so I would like to know if there are iOS visual novels worth getting. I did like Juniper's Knot (albeit on the short side) and One called Banshee Manor (or something to the effect - although replaying the story over and over to have different options show up later wasn't something I liked).

Did she know it was going to be a workout bike ride vs. a date bike ride?

True, handhelds have a wealth of RPGs and if you get a Vita or a 3DSXL, the screen is comfortably large after all (my eyesight isn't very good and I am happy with the screen sizes!). You can still play at home: just relax in bed or on the couch. Or *gasp* play outside.
