Talking about cunty moves and MGS...
For Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (remake for Gamecube), Kojima had the entire script re-written and re-voiced and then didn't employ the localisers from the original release, instead passing it on to someone else.

The Rest / General Discussions / Magic the Gathering (card game)

I had a little search around this forum and couldn't find anything relevant that was recent.
Are their any Magic players in this forum? I've recently started playing again due to my money situation being a little better so would love to discuss various topics about the game with other players.
So, if anyone does play (mainly the 2011 deck and up) what colour deck do you usually play, are there any awesome cards you never go without, any tournament players?
I'll kick things off a little. Yesterday at work I played a tournament match against a work buddy (we have a huge tournament on the go at the moment with most people in the office taking part!). I was using a Black / White deck and he was using a Blue / Green deck. The match was pretty lengthy - lasting about 1 hour and a half.
The last turn saw me take 1 damage, which killed me since I only had 1 HP. However if I had managed to block that with a creature (which I couldn't since he instant killed it that turn) he would have been unable to draw a card and therefore would have lost - it was down to the wire.
In terms of card games, it was pretty epic, with a group of people huddled around my desk watching us - nobody knew what was going to happen. Probably the most epic game I've played so far. We have our second match today - pretty excited.
It will be interesting to see where this thread goes...

Slightly off topic, but I am currently playing Dead Rising 2: Off The Record which has a good co-op mode in it. If running around with a friend in crazy outfits with crazy custom-made weapons wading through zombies is your thing, you should check it out.
Not a lot of people even realise Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record even have co-op... sadly.

I love the setting - medieval with a slight punky feel, certainly different from VII or VIII. I have only ever played it through once, but that was enough to rank it highly in my Final Fantasy chart.
Also, Vivi is awesome and the opening to the game is wonderful.

This is popping up elsewhere on the Internet now - it's listed on Amazon at £44.99, it originally went up at £37.99 but was listed as "out of stock" instead of "pre-order".
I'm not sure how I'm going to finish The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim before this comes out. I really don't like putting RPGs on hold for other RPGs because I never go back to them!

On this note, I'm so stuck on whether I should move forward with Xenoblade or not.... so many more hours of quests, but I'm really just feeling moving on at this point...
Just move on, seriously. I recently finished Xenoblade Chronicles at around the 95 hour mark with plently of active quests and potential new quests scattered about for me to take on. I usually like to aim for a complete quest log if I can but this game seems to deliberately make it a pain in the ass. Continue the story. Enjoy the ending. Remember it for being a great game and not a hideous grind-fest.

I pre-ordered this at Zavvi in its MEGA MONDAY deal for £40 with the Circle Pad, which I thought was a steal.
I didn't plan on getting the Circle Pad, but the lower price won me over. Now I just need to pluck up the courage to take that thing into the public... Saying that, I think this is a handheld game that would be best played indoors. Survival horror on a train with commuters will detract from the experience...

This thread is great. So much knowledge, and with delicious-sounding recipes!
Going back to the sleep topic. I take sleeping very seriously. I have recently recieved some advice on sleeping that has improved my rest and energy levels incredibly.
- You should only ever go to bed when you feel tired. A lot of people get into bed because they feel like they might not wake up properly for their 6am start. Going to bed too early will often result in you laying their trying to fall asleep which will only stress you out more.
- You should eat your last meal 2-3 hours before you intend to sleep to prevent heavy indigestion which can aggrevate your body during sleep.
- If you are having trouble sleeping, you should get out of bed for around 20 minutes and have a glass of warm milk or half a banana (these contain the the right chemicals to help you on your way to a good nights sleep).
- You should ensure the room you sleep in is very dark and always the same temperature - slight changes in the room lighting or temperature can lead to interrupted sleep.
I have been following this advice for some time now and my body has found its natural alarm clock. For example, I end up in bed at roughly the same time each night, since that is when I become tired (around 10:45pm). And I naturally wake up 5 minutes before my alarm (5:55am) each morning. It's a weird feeling - not being woken by an alarm, instead waking up naturally when I need to. Throwing out my alarm clock was the best thing I have done. I know that I can go to bed when I feel tired and wake up around 6am. Even at weekends. I have found some extra game time in the mornings thanks to this, since my other half enjoys a lay in. Every day.
I wish you all good nights of sleep!

I came close with Nier, but that's the first one I've done it with in a long time.
Me too, until I realised the game wanted me to grind a dungeon for rare materials to upgrade my weapons. That's usually when I throw in the towel. The last RPGs I achieved 100% on were Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Mainly because I thoroughly enjoyed them and didn't want them to end too soon. I considered Xenoblade Chronicles, but that game is a completionists worst nightmare...

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: How long do you play an RPG for in one sitting

With RPGs I generally aim to have at least 3 hours available before settling down for the night. Unless it's training party members, where an hour or less can be fine.
Dark Souls was a recent destroyer of my time - during the weekend it was released I clocked in 33 hours.
I'm playing Skyrim and it's just picking up pace, so I imagine some long sessions will be had there too.

Epic Mickey I class this as a game with RPG elements. I also have a soft spot for Disney having grown up with it. I started this whilst away from home sometime ago. I just couldn't get into it - I think it has something to do with not being in my games room, in my house and being comfortable. Also, those fucking camera controls (or lack of).
Front Mission 4 I played this for around 6-7 hours. I loved 3, I played it through twice. There was something about 4 that didn't grab me like previous games. Seemed very slow, but I would love to play this again when I'm in the right mood.
Grandia III Much like above - I have played the original and 2. I loved them both, but something about 3 didn't hook me. I often think about it and how I should go back to it one day.
Koudelka Back in the day I loved anything and everything that was like Resident Evil. This was like Resident Evil but with turn-based combat. To be honest, I think the reason I stopped playing this was because it scared me (I was about 11).
Makai Kingdom I started this too soon after finishing Disgaea 2. Had to stop playing since it was too similar. Never went back, but enjoyed what I played.
Parasite Eve Much the same as Koudelka. I got scared as a kid. Don't judge me.
Xenogears Stopped playing this after a few hours. I was young and new to JRPGs and I think this was a bit much for me at the time. I still own it and will return to it one day.
And that's just RPGs...

For anyone in the UK who hasn't got this, Gamestation are now selling for £9.98 INCLUDING a genuine Wii Classic controller. Which is frankly nuts.
I've just checked this and it's already out of stock. I used to work in a Gamestation and I wouldn't be surprised if this game went into the sale even when there is no stock. Happened all the time.
