16  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: 2014 Kickstarter, Steam Greenlight, etc. thread. What's piqued your interest? on: April 17, 2014, 06:35:22 PM
Treachery in Beatdown City https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nuchallenger/treachery-in-beatdown-city-a-tactical-beat-em-up-0

It's like Final Fight with VATS (fallout3), and that's actually a good idea.  The designer described how he has never been good at Tekken because it was too hard to execute long button combos, and this removes execution difficulty from the equation, allowing you to think about which moves you want to do tactically.

In contrast to that (incredible) Brony game video's sentiment, Beatdown City's devs put a lot of heart into respectfully representing the main characters' cultural backgrounds.

I liked the first Neptunia game the best.  It was charming, and if you bothered to pay attention to its unorthodox systems, it was pretty rewarding.

The sci-fi cyberness of the setting too... guilty pleasure?

I'm Mojotron on PSN.  Carried my character design and cards over from the original, and am feeling confident.  The short and simple missions are conducive to my lifestyle.  Lots of fun.

I have played this game, because I bought it, and it is awesome.  I will click pop any motherfucker that says this game sucks.

lvl 46 amazon.

PSN is mojotron

I didn't know you could poke that one picture.  It seems like now in hard mode, every picture reacts to pokings... or does that have to do with who is hosting?

I'm playing this again myself.  It's like a mild dose of Dark Souls in terms of tension... it's awesome.

PSN ID is mojotron and my pawn is Zelduh... she always gets 5 stars in appearance... hire her and see why.

What does a director do again?

I have opposed Ashton too many times.  Allow me to side with him, in an attempt to right my wrongs.

" Analysis and strategy above a level that you find fun does not mean the game mechanics are being "cheesed" or that the game is imbalanced."

True, but you said 'above'.  That implies that his level of fun is beneath.

Say 'beyond' next time.

...such is the line between mr niceguy and mr butthole.

The kids want this game; so do I.  Taelus' gaming tastes otherwise conflict with mine, but I agree that games that are too technical aren't fun.  Having said that, Armored Core and the Souls games are awesome because of how deep they go, but their context makes sense.  Souls is supposed to be hard, and AC is supposed to be real.  I disagree that DMC4 or Bayonetta go too far, but if they did get super technical, there might not be a reason for it to be super hard.

It's all backwards.  First came war, then came sexuality.

Grenades are boobs, penii are missiles...

Men and women both run away from the penis, and run towards the boobs.

Nevermind, this was a bad idea for a post, but I'm posting it anyway, to show that I have stupid thoughts.  err, to admit to it.

I am stupid.
27  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: FFXIV 2.0 - Holy Shit!? on: December 11, 2012, 09:46:35 PM
Is the new graphics engine much more demanding?  I was barely cutting it before, though it still played quite smoothly.

FFXIV was one lick short of an orgasm, in my opinion.  Blue balls all the way back down, though.
28  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dark Souls 2 on: December 11, 2012, 09:35:37 PM
I think Demon's Souls got a boost in popularity after Dark Souls came out... they extended the server life a million times, and as far as I know, it is still up!

The most finicky gamers I know say that Dark Souls is their favorite game, and that is why I am still their friend.  Their tastes are otherwise a mile away, but we can talk about DS for hours.  These powergamers fucking destroy everything they play, but Dark Souls still had a high enough ceiling for them.  They immediately played Demon's Souls afterward, and said it was even harder...

Dark Souls 2 could be directed by Michael Bay and I'd still buy it.  I will give money to the brand name even if the final product sucks, just this once.

Friend co-op sounds fun, despite how it would ruin the emotional desperation theme.  I think the 3rd game in the series is the perfect time to implement such "what if" features.  The gameplay  mechanics are solid, but I don't think I'd appreciate any more invisible floors or 3 foot visibility dungeons, no matter how well designed.  No need to beat a dead horse.

I would happily play capture the flag with my Dark Soul's character, to put it bluntly.

I bought Koudelka for $23 from the new used game shop in town.  Amazon prices = $36 and may not include case or manual, woot.

Also Evil Zone.  Old ass games are soothing.
