Just beat the first mission of chapter 6. Last fight of chapter 5 pissed me off hard, my rem kept dying so I reset like 15 times, then I finally gave up when the boss had like a pixel of health and my fire spell missed the breaksight and I got 1 shot (level 99, 160+ defense, 2300+ health, still 1 shot).

For any of you that didn't know about it, there's an abusive trick you can do for free level ups. Use at your own discretion, but bear in mind that even my 99 rem was getting slapped around by some enemies, so it doesn't exactly break the gamebut you will be hitting like a freight train early if you max rem since she has the highest magic ratings in game.

Start the secret training in the arena, jump to your psn menu and go to the options menu, then date and time, and move the date forward. I just jumped it up a month every time since it's the first option but I think the max bonus caps out at 24 hours, so your call

I think I'm at like 400 killsights with her already, maybe more. Rem is the most op character in the game, with Queen and Cater as my number 2 and 3, and Seven as my number 4. Eight's kinda fun, but overall I hate the male characters. They all feel oddly clunky, especially king and nine. Nine ia just a dopey fuck and his sword can eat a massive wad of used toilet paper.
I learned about the trick last night on gamefaqs and proceeded to max out Ace. Planning on maxxing everyone out today. Sad to hear though that enemies can still slap you around though. Oh well, still going to max them all out....because managing the levels of 14 characters (when you can only level 3 at a time) is just insane.
17  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Digital VS Physical on: March 21, 2015, 07:55:46 AM
Physical edition all the way! Collector's edition if available. I detest the concept of my access to a product being at the whims of another individual/company. It may be that it is their best interest to ensure that the product is always available to me, but there is no guarantee that that won't change in the future. For example, I am pretty sure that Sony will pull the plug on PS3 access to PSN someday as at some point it just won't be economically justifiable. At that point, I would be losing access to any games thqat I might have had to delete for space on my PS3's harddrive, and if the system ever died then I would permanently lose access to all digital games and DLC (which is sadly a larger number than I want to admit).

Plus, I like having a large game/manga/dvd collection to show off in my living room (although I need to buy more shelves >.>). I will always buy the physical edition unless there is no physical edition available or the physical edition is out of print and getting a copy is unreasonably expensive (and sometimes I'll do it even then....looking at you Fire Emblem 4 soundtrack).

DIFFICULTY/ Does anyone know if there is a content penalty for playing on Cadet?? I have been playing on Officer just in case, because I heard rumor that certain things can only be done/seen on officer and up but I haven't been able to confirm this. I ask because some of these side missions are seemingly impossible without turning down the difficulty, grinding my ass off or simply tackling them on New Game +
I checked on the Gamefaqs message board and according to what I saw, no difficulty does not impact content or trophies.

Made a top tier dimension bomb in Atelier Shallie last night after a lot of work.....unfortunately it is extremely underwhelming. >.> At least my auto full heal elixir works how I expected it to. I guess I should work on making some more top tier items to see if I can make better bombs with either of Stera's unique bombs.

That's...not a good system. :P

I should be able to tell what I've to do at a glance, it doesn't really matter what I did to unlock it, just what I need to do to complete it.
As I said it was poorly thought out. :p The secondary tasks are where the system messes it up. It should just list the next task you have in each category and have no tasks unlocked when you reach that next task. But that's not what they did, and what they did is confusing design. But at least you know what to do now.

Atelier Shallie is out but no one here is talking about it. I've not played much yet but it seems like it will be another good game. It is different to play not having any time mechanic but Iam starting to get used to it. The two stories seem ver different from each other unlike Escha & Lodgy where they meet up right away I am in chapter 2 and have not teamed up with the other Shallie yet. From what I hear the stories are much more different this time so replaying is pretty much a must.

The only thing to point out is that there is a bug that makes the game crash when opening the Growth System menu that you unlock at level 40. A patch is one the way and people say you can finish the game without it (you'll just be less powerful).
Eh they meet up around chapter 4, so half the game is mostly the same (I assume).

The game doesn't crash when you open the growth system menu and you can actually use nearly half of it. Basically you can move around the stat boost icons without fear of the game crashing. I'm currently grinding end game properties (damn it phoenix drop Super Properties already so I can make an uber bomb to make grinding you faster >.>) without having touched it for the most part.

I'm starting to worry quality control didn't exist in Atelier Shallie. As far as I can tell all the descriptions for my free time events are mixed up with one another and not to mention the game breaking glitch regarding the Growth System when you hit level 40.
They aren't mixed up, the naming scheme was just poorly thought out/explained. The names of the free time events are what you have to do to gain the free time event not what you have to do to clear the event. So as a made up example, if you talk to 10 people you get a task for beating 3 enemies. The task would be called "Talk to 10 people" instead of "Beat 3 enemies." Reason for this is probably because this gives it a unique name as there are many instances of beat 5 enemies or make a magic tool. Also this way you can quickly tell which events you have already unlocked and which ones (based on patterns) you still need to unlock. You can quickly view what you need to do for your unlocked ones by hitting square.

Also, I like how Marvelous spent and lost about as much money as Comcept made from the (first) Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter.
Honestly that makes me sad as I like Marvelous. :(

I was being sarcastic. I like Marvelous, too. If anything, I feel like Comcept is purposely trying to get 3.8 million dollars out of people. <_<
Oops, sorry. Damn lack of sarcasm tags. >.>

Been playing Atelier Shallie. I think I am at chapter 5 right now. The game has been good so far. My only complaint is that I have very limited ability to control when I finish the "free time" and you can't work on the side mission things (not quests....eh if you've played the game you know what I am talking about otherwise I can't explain them well) when you aren't in "free time." So for example, I have missions to kill 3/5 rare slags. I killed one a while ago and killed two while exploring new areas on a story segment. Neither counted. So now I need to go kill off four more to get w/e the reward for these missions are (probably combat exp).

Okay, I'm done with Escha's route in Atelier E&L, with every trophy but Logy's story scenes and the true end. So I guess I have to blitz through again just for that. Hopefully it will be faster, since I don't really need to worry about anything item creation related outside what is needed for assignments and then just sleep or something since I can one shot everything anyway. The final year was actually rather decent overall (or the 3rd of it, which was needed to level up to 99, finish the story and get über gear), but dear lord did it take long to get there.

As long as you got uber gear, you should be good for speeding through Logy's story.

I could've sworn we had a big fan of Turn A Gundam, so here's some good news for you: http://www.rightstuf.com/site/main/news/individual/FT0000007562.html
Hmm not personally a big fan, but I might feel compelled to pick it up....if I remember it exists sometime after it comes out.
26  Media / Game Journals / Re: A Game Journal Reborn on: March 12, 2015, 06:23:54 AM

I've finished it before, I was just trying to get through it again while reading the Another Birth books.
Oh in that case, nevermind. :p

After finishing Guided Fate Paradox, I decided to go back to my .Hack playthrough before Type-0 comes out. I have to say though, after taking a four month break during which time I played a lot of Kingdom Hearts and other action RPG's and then going back to the fourth game really highlights how awful the combat is in that game. To the point that after I made it about halfway through the first dungeon I just turned it off and put the game away.

:( I know the gameplay is weak, which is why I have never attempted a replay on it, but if you are in game four you really should finish the game. The ending hits me right in the feels. Not going to tell you to attempt the post-game dungeon (because that place sucks), but the main game is worth finishing at some point imo.

Confirming once again that Nintendo provides some interesting, probably illegal stuff in their cafeterias: The Codename S.T.E.A.M. Sing-along song
O.o Okay then. So I saw steam powered giant Lincoln mech, Ahab, Queen Califia, and a bison tank.....I have no idea if any of those were known before, but who cares. We have Mech-Lincoln. This game is going to be insane.
29  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Xenoverse, DBZ game or something more? on: March 06, 2015, 06:50:30 AM
Finished the story, it was alright.

I feel the same way. On the positive, a simple work-aroumd to negate the difficulty is doing them online with human partners. Host the room yourself for it to count and even then it glitched and I didn't get ranked a few times for completion oddly enough, but the challenge was no longer retard-level-hard.
Funny thing is that I have done a few more 5 star missions and it seems that the one initially giving me trouble was an outlier (honestly don't even remember which one it was at this point). However I have found two missions that are just evil. There are two missions where you have to fight every single super saiyan in a row (second one has even more characters). Now there are two problems with this set up. One you have to do it solo the first time. Two Goku and Adult Gohan spam Ultimate Kamehameha in the last round to the point where I frequently got hit by multiple of them with no chance of escape.

I have decided to build a unlimited ki saiyan to use to just grind all the skills until I get completely bored with the game. If the game is going to be cheap, I will too.

DQ VIII is DONE. The end game was EXHAUSTING.

On to Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time.

Does anyone know if the dialogue choices make any difference in this game beyond how the other characters treat you?

I've been either silent or condescending since the word go, so I'm wondering if that's going to bite me in the ass in the end.
I think your dialogue options impact your personality....I don't remember what your impact your personality actually has on the game though. Looking through the message board at gamefaqs, the only thing I can quickly find is that it changes the facial expression of the character. I know in Growlanser 3, your personality could limit you from some dialogue options that didn't match your personality but I don't recall if WoT does that. If you end up disliking the personality you get, you can spend money later in the game to adjust it.
