I've been having a hard time deciding on which three characters I am planning on using as my final group.

WTF?  Is that normally something you decide before you've even started playing the game?
Yes? That's not to say that it can't change when I play the game (which I suppose makes the term final slightly inaccurate), but I will generally go into a game with some kind of idea of which party members will be the ones I drag around the most often. For JRPGs I tend to just plant firmly into my party once I get them. For a game like Dragon Age Inquisition, I will switch them around to manipulate affection (or whatever the equivalent is) until I have everyone maxed out where I want them and then stick with the final party unless I ended up liking someone else more.

Honestly this batch of characters is less interesting to me than DA2's batch. I've been having a hard time deciding on which three characters I am planning on using as my final group. Right now I am leaning towards Casssandra, Varric, and Dorian with my character as either a Knight Enchanter or a Warrior of some kind (depends on how early you can choose a specialization).

I bet it tastes like chicken though.
Nah, Trademark infringement does though (which this project also seems to have). Copyright infringement tastes like a hot dog.

The game is going to have a genuine plot, so perhaps the TP focus is based around when the story is supposed to take place in relation to other titles? Just a guess.
It has been stated in one of the interviews regarding the title that the game doesn't exist in any of the current timelines. I mean I'm pretty sure there was no killer moon in TP. :p

I smell copyright infringement!

Her gameplay looks interesting....but I think I am going to hate playing as her more than any other character in a Musou game because of mannerisms and such. x_x

Future events such as these will affect you in the future.

Newcomer Lana's video!

...By Zelda standards, she's pretty chatty.
Love that moveset.

Was planning on playing Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn today, but sadly it isn't getting a preload like it was supposed to, so I might not actually get to play it till tomorrowish due to download times. Dammit Sony. x_x

Just beat the story in Dragon Age II. That was a damn fine game, I don't get the hate. Sure it could have used larger areas and more places to explore because it gets kind of tiresome going to the same places over and over, but I really did feel like I had an influence over Kirkwall and watched it evolve over the game based on my decisions. It was really neat. Same goes with the characters. They relationships with them really sold the story and setting for me. These are memorable characters (maybe even more so that the first game). The story is awesome too and should have major consequences either way you go about it in the next game. It does feel more like an action game than RPG at times, but Mass Effect does too and I don't think it's a bad thing. I just think that's why RPG purists prefer the first game. I like them about the same, but for different reasons. I like this one because it has a better quest system, better menus, better graphics, and much less confusing item and crafting system. I like the first one for its exploration, mythology, and overall plot. They make a good one two punch. Can't wait for Inquisition! I can finally go watch some trailers without fear of spoilers haha.

Question for my Dragon Age friends: Any of the DAII DLC worth getting? I looked into Mark of the Assassin, but it just looks like a Felicia Day fangasm that has no effect on any of the story at all. I barely even know who she is anyway.
Glad you enjoyed it.  Out of curiosity which faction did you side with at the end? Now for DLC, I would say that all of the story DLC are worth playing....with some caveats. The Exiled Prince would have been worth it had you gotten it before hitting chapter 3, at this point thought I don't think you can actually run through it now so actually pass on it. Legacy is a must play as it has a major major revelation in it which there is some speculation may be leading into DAI. I recommend brining your sibling and maybe Anders along if you can. Mark of the Assassin is enjoyable, but it is more of a story about Tallis than Hawke. So if you don't care about Tallis, then it will not be worth it,

I really enjoy watching Code Geass, but there are a tons of things it does that I usually give other shows a lot of flak for, and I don't think I could really describe why it works for me when shows with similar themes and excecution make me cringe.
Any particular examples?

Rewatched all of Code Geass over the weekend except for the last few episodes of R2 (which I'll watch tonight). Still love the entire series. Really is great.

Just checked out the first 5 eps of The Future Diary this weekend.

Thought it was gonna suck at first when I saw the cliche tool of a main character... Boy was I wrong. It only took the first five episodes to safely say I'm hooked.

I've only read the manga of that. Let me just say that, assuming the anime follows the manga completely, that series is going to get messed up...well that implies it was at some point not messed up. It will get more messed up in the future.

So bump, anyone actually looking forward to Fairy Fencer F? The world concept sounds interesting.....but Compile Hearts so I'm leaning towards not getting it. Any reason I should give it a second look?

It is understandable to not care about race choice if you are going to be human, but you have to admit it was a terrible design decision on their part after letting us pick whatever we wanted in the first game. As for the combat, it is growing on me, but I still think the first one was alot more strategic than this which I prefer. The quest system and menus are definitely MUCH better in this game though. I'm enjoying it, I was just bummed I HAD to be the character they chose for me after being able to customize my own in the first game. The story is pretty cool so far too. It was nice to see Anders after I just beat Awakening and imported my save over. They even talked about
Code:
how I had burned down Amaranthine, which is awesome!
Terrible? No. They were trying to a more personal story by having a single defined backstory for the main character as opposed to Origin where your identity is just the Warden with your backstory coming up in one sub-quest of the main plot. Some of the events in the game just would not have made sense with an Elf protagonist. They didn't do as much with it as they could have, but that doesn't mean that it was a terrible decision. If they had spent the time to add in additional races, then I think the game would have been worse for it as they were already severely time crunched by EA deadlines so stuff would have had to have been cut, and chapter 3 is already severely anemic. Actually I was disappointed when they changed course with DAI and decided to put multiple races back in.....maybe I do actually care about it when I think about. *shrug*

Hurray, I won't have to import the game now. Hopefully the US release won't be too far behind the European release.
255  Media / Game Journals / Re: A Game Journal Reborn on: June 25, 2014, 06:35:51 AM
I started up Dragon Age II this morning before work and played a couple of hours. NOW I understand why so many people were upset. Bioware changed way too much shit they shouldn't have. I have no idea what they were thinking. Not being able to import your character from the first game and play as them is understandable given they wanted another story going on at roughly the same time with new characters, but forcing us to be human and not be able to customize like anything is horseshit. The combat system is also alot more like an action game in this one. I much prefer the combat in the first game. The improved character animations and facial expressions are nice, but the art direction in the first one was also way better since they had to make up for less pretty graphics. Now, I do think the menus are better handled in this one because I can actually read things since the text and everything is bigger. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, they switched the conversations to the Mass Effect system when the first one was completely fine. Again, not something that needed changed at all. We'll see how much I end up enjoying this, but I'm pretty bummed out currently. I know I'm late to the party, but I had to vent somewhere haha.
Disagree regarding the conversation system. DA2's is the best conversation system between DAO, ME, and DA2. Tone indicators are a freaking god send. I remember multiple times in DAO when I would select and option and the implied tone based on how the person I was talking to reacted was completely different than I had intended it to be (which included the time I accidently started romancing Zervan because my line that I read with an intended tone of w/e was instead taken with a tone of "Come by anytime.")

Actually disagree with a lot of the points (prefer DA2's combat, prefer DA2's design direction, don't care about the loss of race choice), but then again my only complaint about DA2 is that it was clearly rushed, and frankly on my second playthrough, I didn't even really notice some of the short cuts they had to use despite being fully aware of the fact that they were there.
