241  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Gust making a spiritual successor to Ar Tonelico: Ar no Surge on: April 14, 2014, 07:24:20 AM
Given the mountains of text in this game plus the connections to Ciel no Surge I'm really questioning whether we'll ever see it localized.  Seriously, the amount of text in this game is not normal, even for an RPG...
Shut your mouth. Of course we are going to get it. We have to get it. *cries a little inside at the possibility of it not getting localized*

So reread through all of World Trigger last night. Really wish that they would release it in volume format so that I could read it through without having to constantly change digital issues of Shonen Jump. It was a fun read through, and I caught a couple of details that I had previously missed (primarily the number of black trigger users on the invader's side in the current arc).

Welp, now that I have succeeded in killing this thread off, I'll just start using this thread  to keep a waifu harem! So first addition, Alkaid from .hack//G.U.

There is absolutely no way that this can go wrong. *triggers boat end flag* No way at all.

Made it to Chapter 5 in Bravely Default. While the major twist was already spoiled for me by all you folks' "hints" (yes, saying 'you have to do everything over again' isn't exactly subtle) I was pleasantly taken aback by the twist involving Ringabel. Tried to do the first subquest again before doing any grinding and got my butt kicked by the Monk's death throes.
I don't think anyone was trying to be subtle when they mention those "hints". I think the people who mention that were just venting without regard for their subtlety. I'm not sure what twist you are talking about with Ringabel. There was only one plot thing relating to him at the end of Chapter 4 and beginning of Chapter 5 that I can think of.....and that was telegraphed back in chapter 1.

Code:
I assume you are talking about the reveal that Dark Knight has Ringabel's face? If so then yeah, Ringabel being the Dark Knight was telegraphed back in D(ark knight)'s journal, end of chapter 1 (where Ringabel is conveniently absent when the Dark Knight attacks the ship), and sometime in chapter 3 (when Ringabel comes back injured after the Dark Knight was attacked by Victoria).  The only real "shock" is that the two of them are different people, but even that was telegraphed by the fact that D's journal has a large number of discrepancies primarily including the lack of Ringabel......so yeah I was not impressed by that reveal. :p

Well going to be interesting to see what you think as you are going to jumping in smack dab in the middle of an invasion arc. A quick summation to try and get you up to speed as to wtf is going on:

Code:
A giant invasion of neighbors began a few chapters ago, beginning with a massive number of trion soldiers (non-humanoid neighbors that are sort of the equivalent of robots). After several waves of trion soldiers, the humanoid neighbors in charge of the invasion managed to pinpoint their targets (C-ranked Border Agents) and they joined the battle to both ensure capture of their targets and to distract the most powerful members of Border. The last chapter ended with one of the humanoid neighbors with a black trigger (aka a completely broken weapon) engaging in combat against one of the top ranked Border teams with one member of the Border team seemingly able to predict his attacks due to that member's side effect (minor psychic power/enchanced sense that some people with high amounts of Trion have).

If you have any other questions feel free to ask them here and I'll do my best to help.

Ah, you should give World Trigger another shot if you didn't like it in the beginning. It got better and it is imo the second best series in Jump. At the very least it is better than Naruto and Bleach. The others....yeah those aren't that good.

Summary of the first few chapters of One-Punch Man: Office Worker saves a kid from a monster and decides he will become a superhero and spends several years training his body (using conventional methods) so hard that his hair falls out, and by the time the series starts he has become so powerful that he can finish all fights with a single punch. Then he meets Genos who is in awe of his strength and becomes his "disciple", then they join the superhero association. And I think that is about it in terms of important plot.

Well I'm glad I finished watching Agents of Shield because it suddenly got good in the last three or so episodes.

Code:
I don't get the last few minutes as I don't think that Ward is a traitor for a second, so I don't get why he would kill off five SHIELD agents just to go undercover with a guy who was already captured....maybe he used icer rounds and blood packets? I dunno.

Because I exist to solve the mysteries of the universe, and I cannot allow people to simply leave a mystery unsolved because they want to keep it a mystery. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!...or something like that.

To be fair,
Code:
the most boring character on the show just turned traitor (and the episode even featured a triple cross for what its worth). Not that I couldn't see the outcome coming from a mile away (and I definitely know that there's at least one more traitor running around at this point, but I suspect that they wont cash in that revelation until the next major confrontation since he's probably gonna take over the roster slot for the other traitor until he turns back as he's a 'double agent' all along while Mr. Replacement suddenly reveals that he was a double agent too),
but at least the show is trying to go somewhere with this.

Of course the real reason why shit's going down is because there's a movie to tie into now (and not as halfassedly as Thor 2).
Oh the most boring character does something mildly interesting. That is good to know that.....ummm huh. I'm not sure who the most boring character on the show is. It could literally be any character other than Coulson. And he is only discounted because he is interesting in the movies. I think that reaction is probably a good sign that I have no interest in the show at this point. I'll probably watch another episode despite that in the next week or so.

Dragon Age origins

Nothing to be ashamed there.
If you had said DA2 though...
Hey, I said DA2 on this very thread a few pages ago!  Aveline Vallen is a saint!  A SAINT!!!

A saint with the jaw of a man. You heard me !
So? I still enjoyed DA2 more than DAO. That's right I said it.
251  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception II on: April 09, 2014, 06:54:04 AM
Anyone decided on who they'll go after first, based on the introductions and demo playthrough?  I'm thinking Fuuko, myself.  Not sure why besides the fact that she just seems so charmingly normal (relatively speaking, of course).  I guess I'm weird that I go for either the normal girls or the crazy ones (bonus points if they end up being both).
Ugh despite loving the game, I can't say any of the girls have really grabbed me yet. Out of the four that are available in the demo, I am thinking that Chloe might be the first one I go for. However I can't say that that is a strong preference.

Weekly Shonen Jump impressions before the scanlators release next Monday's issue.

One Piece
Code:
God damn it, I really wish that I had people to discuss One Piece with because this chapter was amazing. Dressrosa is in chaos, Donflamingo's plans are up in smoke, and Sabo is making his move. Oh and Kyrios beheaded Donflamingo. I don't actually think he is dead (either the body that was just beheaded is actually a puppet or he can use his strong power to reconnect lost limbs), but it was a great follow up scene where basically the events exactly duplicated what happened ten years ago with the set up.

World Trigger
Great chapter, more world building and some entertaining fights.

Naruto
Goddamn this arc is boring, can we just finish this series up already?

All You Need is Kill
Great chapter very emotional chapter, and I look forward to seeing where things go from here.

Dragonball One Shot
Really? This is something that needed to happen? *sigh* The TV special for Burdock was much more entertaining and this was way too Supermanny for my tastes.

Stealth Symphony
Most of the chapter was kind of meh, but I did greatly enjoy the exchange with Troma towards the end.
253  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception II on: April 08, 2014, 07:03:11 AM
Huh.  Not what I would have expected, to be honest.  Not that the option is unwelcome...

O.o Really? I'm curious as to why you wouldn't expect it. Considering the tone of the game, seemed like it was almost a forgone conclusion it would have that as an ending.

I don't even remember how long it's been since I posted here, last. I could look, but I like the mystery better.
Bah, mysteries exist to be solved! The answer is a few days short of three years.

I want Kevadu to be mine, but he resists all my attempts.  For the best, I'd probably just drag him around Japan mercilessly and convince him to start an XSeed-like company.
I'll volunteer to be your waifu (well husbando) Dice to save Kevadu. Although I will not be able to start and XSeed-like company.
