Saw the new Godzilla. I enjoyed it. While any and all monster movies could always use more action, I thought it had enough. Also, I do not get the "fat" comments. Godzilla looked fine. I think Pacific Rim was a better movie, but it was still enjoyable.

That could be awesome if it turns out to be more than just rumor/speculation.

Are you excited about the game or does any of the info seem interesting?
I guess I am excited? I'm not so hyped that I am keeping track of the news, but I have already preordered the game.

I am very curious as to how the Dragon Age Keep is going to work (although I am disappointed that my....tweaked DA2 save file is not going to be carried over, so no getting to see whether Allister or what's his face will win in terms of variable priority). Actually there are a lot of save game things that I am going to be curious to see what is possible, for example will the keep allow importing romances for both Morrigan and Leliana or will I have to make a choice. And I just realized you never mentioned the Keep, meh w/e.

Don't have a feel for the companions, so no real strong opinions regarding them. On a first look, I'll probably end up romancing Sera assuming I find her interesting, but again don't have a strong feel for her at the moment. Also feel I need to say that Leliana looks weird in that image you linked to.

I'm not sure what class I'm going to play atm. I have played warriors in the past two, but if you can start the Knight Enchanter specialization fairly early on, then I might do that instead.

Don't care about playable race.

The best was Son of Godzilla when he tries to teach his son to breathe fire down and cute little puffs of smoke come out

Oh my god, that was the WORST. Even as a kid I was watching something awful. And not in a good way.
No no no no, the worst is not Son of Godzilla. The worst is All Monsters Attack.

On top of this, he's not even the star of his own movie! They show a little of him here and there for most of the movie, with him finally taking center stage in the last 15 minutes. Even then, we are never really there with him as he does his monster thing.
That sounds a lot like a Showa era Godzilla film to me (well minus the last sentence). Haven't seen too much of the later eras to know if the trend holds, but most Godzilla movies do tend to focus on the humans and then throw Godzilla in at the end with maybe a fight in the middle.

So finished The Witch and the Hundred Knight yesterday.....and I do not like any of the endings that this game has.

So closest thing to an ending that I liked was the normal ending because the Knight basically just went F all this nonsense, I have better stuff to do than screw around with all of you. The "true" ending is just complete wtf? The game was crude throughout the entire thing, but killing at least one princess by rape? Having a minor unimportant character be some kind of evil mastermind or I guess cruel fatalist might be more accurate? Despite the fact that he never acts like this or hints that he was like that (oh plus he killed his entire village). It was just wtf for the sake of wtf. Oh and one of the very few likable characters was killed (possibly by rape), and yeah this was just complete bs.

Then we move on to the "bad" ending. In this ending all the characters in the game get happy endings.....except for the likable characters. Okay I am exaggerating, the pumpkin witch gets the closest thing to a happy ending she can get, Visco is returned to life (and she gets her wish for Metallia to come back to life, which makes no sense), but we never find out what happens to the fog witch and.....okay I think that is all of the likable characters. However every single asshole in the game gets a happy ending. Characters who plotted mass murder? Happy ending. Characters who were complete assholes, happy ending. Oh and the first princess? Based on what we saw happen to the other characters, she probably still remembers getting raped to death, possibly minus the death, since every other character was shown remembering the blow that killed them just not remembering that they died. So good brushing aside of that horrible wtf plot element there. So yeah, no satisfaction here. The asshole characters did not get their karmic rewards, so the ending just falls flat. Hell some characters who got their karmic rewards during the course of the game had them reversed.

The game's characters were just unpleasant and mostly irredeemable, so I regret having picked up this game. I've been losing interest in NIS games for a while and this one sealed it. Since I'm pretty sure that the next NIS game is finally going to be the Asagi one, I might pick that one up due to the never ending build up, but that is probably going to be the last one for a while.

Going back to Dynasty Warriors 8 XL now. Whoo! Grinding ahoy!

So I just finished Chapter 11 of Witch and the Hundred Knight......and wtf? This game......I just don't know what to say about it. That was a plot twist completely out of left field which has just me going da fuq?

I know I say this ALL THE TIME, but holy wow... It took me over a month to get that far. Mind you, I was playing other stuff as well for most of that time, but even then... wow. I am REALLY slow at games. It makes me completely jealous of anyone who isn't.
Eh don't freak out comparing your completion time to mine. I do hack my saves a little in order to speed things up because my backlog is never ending and I want to get through all the games in my backlog as quickly as possible.

What if the ending of Naruto is Sakura gets the super hyper eyes (I'm sure she can manage the surgery) and puts a genjutsu on Sasuke to make him her boy toy?

Actually, I have a question for everyone. Anyone know of a case of an author of a long publication making two very different publications back to back ?
The AMG-sama thing had me think that most long publication author tend to do a manga that's really similar to the last one.
I'm just wondering if there's a mold breaker out there.
That would be hilarious, scary, and awesome, but it won't happen because I'm sure Sasuke's uber eyes make him immune to Genjutsu.....and if they don't Naruto would free his bromance partner somehow.

When you say long publication, how long are we talking? I'm not too familiar with the authors of manga that ran for 25+ years and has ended. Hiromu Arakawa wrote Fullmetal Alchemist for nearly a decade and then went on to write a slice of life(?) story about a city kid going to a farming school (Silver Spoon). For a shorter example, Tsugumi Ohba wrote Death Note for three years and as far as I can tell his next work was Bakuman which are basically night and day.

Big news I guess.
After 25 years of publication, Ah Megami-sama (Ah My Goddess) has finally ended.

You could technically say it took 25 years for them to get married.

That is big news. :O Did they ever get a Guinneas World Record for Most Drawn-out Storyline?

Ahahahahahahaha, no. Not even close. You have stuff like Doremon, Lupin the 3rd, as well as other miscellaneous manga and anime that have been going on since the 60s-70s.
Well is there really a central storyline to either Doremon or Lupin the 3rd? I'm not too familiar with either one, but my understanding is that they are just very long running episodic storylines rather than drawn out storylines. Longest manga with a central storyline that I can think of would be Hajime no Ippo. No idea on whether that one is drawn out or not though.

I'm glad Morisato hopefully won't have to suffer more from his blue balls.

From my on/off reading of the series though, I've enjoyed it.  I'd still love to see what else Fujishima would work on.  He's a great illustrator and a pretty fun (albeit safe) story teller.

And, stupid point: But I admire this series for actually have three main ladies *all* without bangs.  I don't think this ever really happens ever in manga-land otherwise. :P
Oh come on, it happens often in Manga, like One Piece where there are two main female characters who don't have defined love interests (actually no main character in One Piece has  a defined love interest because adventure!.....not counting Sanji who crushes on every female in existence). Then there is Mag....no, Fullmetal....no, Baku.....no, Naruto? Does it count if the female character is obsessed with a guy who will never give her the time of day so there is no chance of them ever becoming a couple? Oh I know, Negima!....wait no that is a harem series, so the only reason there were females who weren't throwing themselves at Negi is because the series ended one arc early. Maybe Bleach? Depends on how generous you are with "main lady." Oh I know, Soul Eater and The World God Only Knows (weird that this one works considering that the series premise is the main character getting girls to fall in love with him, but it does apply throughout the series and thenseveral times over in the finale).

Fine I'll admit it is uncommon, but I'll counter that it is uncommon in most forms of media.

249  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Wild Arms For PS4 still possible on: May 17, 2014, 06:56:27 AM
I actually have a real love affair with Wild Arms 3's English opening.... because it's sung by none other than Jem from Jem and the Holograms.  Which was awesome

All other songs are invalid.

Wait, that's a lie.  WA1's intro is a goddamn classic too and the first PSX game I ever saw played.
Fucking nostalgia.  WHERE HAS THIS SERIES GONE?!

I agree with Dice, I adore WA3's opening, and appreciated how the animation changes based upon where in the story you are.  WA1's is my second favorite.

I also really like the WA3 ending theme too.  The English version's singer is perfect. The Japanese singer just doesn't have the strength in her voice.
I just remembered how freaking badass Asgard (or at least I think that was its name) looked in the opening for WA3 when it was in it. Actually Asgard just looked badass throughout all of WA3, should have been a party member!

Magi, what are you doing?
I don't care about Sheba and Solomon, just give me more Alibaba and Morgiana.

Magi, stahp!
Oh come on the two of them are finally getting together, so that should mean that there are only 5 more chapters till they break up meaning another 6 after that to explore the ramifications with one more for the end ramifications. That means we are almost done with the flashback! :p
251  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Wild Arms For PS4 still possible on: May 16, 2014, 06:55:49 AM
4's ending was depressing as hell, as well.  It's interesting, because despite 4 being very much thematically about being open-minded, it also is very fatalist.  You cannot escape becoming an adult, just as you cannot escape death.

I actually didn't really like 5.  At all.  I'm not sure what I didn't like about it, in the end, either.
Except for the main character of 4, because he stays a kid at heart forever and ever because he is awesome and would never become something as evil as an adult (pretty sure that is word for word from the ending).

And frankly 5 is my favorite of the Wild Arms games, probably followed by Alter Code F.

Babylon 5 had some awesome ships. Gotta love the Sharlin cruiser

If that thing didn't fight Kaiju or other ships hand to hand, then that design is a complete waste

So new issue of Shonen Jump yesterday.

World Trigger was great as always. Really love the tactical aspects of combat in this series. Kind of sad to see it was recently third to last in ranking, hopefully that doesn't stick.

One Piece was also great as always. I do kind of feel bad for the one star characters, to have such low bounties.

All You Need is Kill- Enjoyable read, although it is pretty obvious how this going to end based on this chapter.

Nisekoi- Bleh, I am sick o the most recent love interest addition. Seriously how ridiculously large has this harem gotten?

Seraph of the End- Worst chapter of the week. Although considering that this is the worst series in English Jump, that is not that surprising.

Toriko- Meh chapter, sort of stopped caring about this series a while ago now that I think about it.

Bleach- 18 pages to do what probably could have been done in 3 by a better mangaka. Yeah sounds about right for Bleach. Hurray padding! >.>

Stealth Symphony- Good chapter, unfortunately this series is almost certainly going to end in the next round of additions, so the odds of the plot threads in the .5 chapter going anywhere are near zero.

Blue Exorcist- Meh, at least it wasn't Seraph of the End.

One Punch Man- Alright quick chapter.

Naruto- Sakura why are you there? Kakashi why are you admiring Sakura for being too stupid to realize that Sasuke is bad news? And why is no one killing Sasuke?

The Witch and the Hundred Knight

Finished the first ending last night. Working towards the second ending now, hopefully I'll get there tonight. I am having a strange relationship with this game. Objectively, I recognize it as a very mediocre game. But there's so much here that I guess you could say 'resonates' with me that I can't get enough of it; in fact, I'm absolutely obsessed with it. Number one reason is that Metallia is my new favorite video game character. But I also am having fun with the combat, the story is pretty interesting, and I dig the music too.
Huh, I just started the game over the weekend and have hit Chapter 5. So far I am enjoying it, but I can't say I really care for Metallia. Kind of doubt I'll ever really care for her....considering the ending for chapter 1. And that reminds me, so far it really bugs me that every character in the game is basically either evil or a complete jerk (or both) except for the dog knight. It sort of fits for the game, but it is annoying that I barely have any characters I can root for.

See, I like how the game never goes the usual route of giving Metallia a sympathetic reason for being a vile psychopath other than "that's how witches are," but still manages to make her a sympathetic character DESPITE being an amoral monster. (At least I thought so)

I think the bigger question here is "does a protagonist need to be sympathetic?". I mean, just look at Death Note's protagonist Light Yagami. There's nothing even remotely sympathetic (even his name is unsympathetic as hell) about the guy but he's still entertaining with his "Just as planned." routine. Then you have Samus Aran who, up until Other M, only had backstory in supplemental material. The rest of the time, you're playing a character that looks like a robot on the surface.
Protagonist? No, you can certainly have unsympathetic protagonists, but if the main character is an asshole, there should be someone else in the cast that you can root for otherwise, at least for me, the story just gets boring and you end up with a modern horror movie where you just want every character in the cast to keel over and when you get to the point of wanting everyone to keel over, then the story becomes torture to get through if the cast is not dropping like flies.

I wonder if anyone actually read this........
I did, but I didn't really have anything to say in regards to it.
