241  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: So... Board Games? on: April 05, 2014, 07:55:27 AM
So two things of minor importance.

1. Today is International Table Top Game Day! So everyone go out and play board games with your friends or with total strangers! Because everyone is doing it!

2. Allegiance: A Realm Divided is a kickstarter for a board game (well maybe more of a card game) that I think looks amazing and needs support in order to get funded, so all of you go and give them your money!
242  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: RPGs you're ashamed to like? on: April 05, 2014, 06:27:37 AM
I can't really say there are any RPGs that I am ashamed to like. I mean my favorite RPG is Ar Tonelico and I will proudly proclaim that. If we are using the definition of poorly received games that I like, then I am another Dragon Age 2 fan. I greatly preferred it to DAO. I also kinda like Rogue Galaxy, only a little though. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of any.

The closest thing to shame I feel from any games I play are eroge games which I just try to avoid to bringing up with most people. However since other people in the thread have admitted to liking some I see no harm in admitting I do occasionally play them.....can't recall any I particularly like that are considered bad atm though.

And Ranadiel- I too kinda liked Last Rebellion.  I stand by my review of it.  It had potential and could have been a good game, but ended up mediocre.  I've played worse.
.....This is my first post in this thread. How the f did you get me confused with Arhkaos when I didn't even have a post near his? For the record, I am not ashamed to like Last Rebellion because I did not like it.
243  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Conception II on: April 04, 2014, 06:27:22 AM
Based off of my use of Google translate, it appears that there are 9 endings with trophies for the game, including 7 character endings, a normal end, and....if you are familiar with this type of game you can guess ending number 9.
Thanks, that is encouraging.  I've found myself liking a few of the girls based on Atlus' introductions and the demo, though there isn't anyone i particularly dislike, either.

I wonder if ending number 9 would be a "Sad" forever alone ending, or a "Nice Boat" ending...
Good guesses, but too depressing for this game (although depending on your definition of "sad," normal might be the same as that). Eh, I'll just give the answer.

Played the 3DS demo and actually enjoyed it, even though it was a glorified tutorial that just barely gave you a dip into the pool.  Preordered it as soon as I was done.

I guess I'm weird in that I actually enjoyed the English voices.  The dialogue in games like these are usually going to be excessively campy, though that's not always the case, so I just roll with it.  That usually helps in games like this unless I find the acting really terribad.

I'm still wondering if each of the girls have their own story or endings, or if they're just fun little archetypes to make babies with and save the world, though.

245  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The official waifu thread on: April 03, 2014, 06:59:28 AM
Hmm can't say that I have any particular waifus at the moment. When I was younger Karen from Harvest Moon 64 was my waifu big time. I mean if I had to pick one I would probably say Luna from VLR because she is the freshest one in my mind atm since I beat the game a couple of days ago and found her adorable.

If I had to pick a husband, I would probably choose....(minor Danganronpa spoilers)

Chihiro from Danganronpa since I totally was crushing on him prior to the gender reveal.

Not sure what I'm going to be playing next. Maybe Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends? Sort of curious about the Lu Bu faction storyline.

Will you pursue Lu Bu('s Daughter)?
That seems like it would be a horrible idea. She would break me like a twig.

Forgot to post about this week's issue of Jump yesterday (and no I do not mean the scanlations that came out today).

One Piece
I love Kyrios. He is awesome. He cut his own leg off just so he could save his king and has continued fighting despite everyone having forgotten he existed. The Usop/Sugar fight was kind of a meh conclusion, but I don't mind too much as I am exited to see the shit hit the fan as everything Joker has done over the course of his reign is undone next chapter.

This arc has just gotten even stupider. The chapter in isolation is alright I guess, but it really messes with the whole idea of Naruto being a failure at the beginning of the series. Mind you that idea has sort of been gone for a while, but moving even further away from it isn't something I really care for.

World Trigger
Whoo new fights starting between high powered opponents.

Stealth Symphony
This series is starting to get interesting. Going to have to see where it goes from here though.

Yay Kenpachi, boo this fight. I can already tell this fight is going to be stupid/bad.

Finished Virtue's Last Reward last night. Excellent story. I still have issues with the puzzles because sometimes I just don't make the necessary connections, but spoiler free walkthroughs nudge me when I get stuck before I get too frustrated. Luna's ending was heart breaking. Now that I have seen the true end, all  can say is that volume 3 had better get made some day because that cliffhanger is evil if they don't make it. (Yes I know the most recent news is that things are being discussed.)

Not sure what I'm going to be playing next. Maybe Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends? Sort of curious about the Lu Bu faction storyline.

Watching someone play the demo on Vine. This looks stupid as hell.
Exactly, isn't it glorious?

Buh? Of course you can mime yourself. Freelancer/performer is great. Use the skill that gives everyone a BP, then mime it 3 times.

Its great when you face boss mobs where Hasten World just hastens your death.

Allow me to rephrase that, you're not going to get much mileage out of a Freelancer/Performer combo when your Freelancer has to pay 3 Brave to use the "everyone else gets +1 BP" song and then -1 BP for every Mimic thereafter (at Brave 0, you'll get at most +2 Brave before the Performer hits -4 BP).
Really? Because that is actually one of the components for the limitless silent world (or w/e the invincibility move is called) cheese that I used to get through the last chapter side quests. Every other turn your performer/freelancer uses +1BP move/mimic/mimic/mimic. On other turns the performer buffs. As for the only getting +2 , that's actually wrong due to how the game handles BP. You'll go to -3 from using the move, then you'll go to -2 from the move, then -3 from braving, and -2 from mimicking, etc. You'll never actually hit -4 and you can input commands that will send you below -4 BP. So you'll end up at -2 BP on the performer (assuming starting at 0) with the other characters having gained 4. If you throw in hasten world, then you can actually spam out 4 BP every turn (well I guess it would be a constantly regenerating supply of 6 BP total for the other three characters)

I haven't like Green's appearance since I saw it, and I just figured out why. The stupid cat ears. She'd look fine if she just didn't have those.
252  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Gust making a spiritual successor to Ar Tonelico: Ar no Surge on: March 30, 2014, 07:08:02 AM
It isn't. Class::EXSPHERE_NOSURGE; has nothing to do with Ar Ciel, and its melody has nothing in common with any of Ar tonelico's songs. The reason for it sounding so chaotic and bipolar at times is due to a certain event that is related to the main antagonist (check the lyrics: it starts with a "I'll kill everything!" and then changes to "I'll protect everything!"), which also segues with the meta commentary that Kevadu told about before.

Besides, at the point in which the Ra Ciela party comes to Ar Ciel, not even the Seven Bloodstains Incident has taken place, so the Grathnode Inferia won't happen for at least other ten years.

However, one of the songs does indeed have to do with Ar tonelico, though its melody was never heard before: the music box part at the end of Class::DISTLLISTA; is an arranged version of the melody played by the Orgel of Origins, which is the single most important piece of music in all of Ar Ciel. The original version of that melody can be heard in track 25 of the soundtrack's first disc (titled  "Burial Chamber").
Weird, I still think that the tune that plays at approximately 4:50 of Class::EXSPHERE_NOSURGE; sounds like a snippet of the tune from one of the Singing Hill songs (my gut is saying the end of Tylia) to me. If it doesn't play during the Ar Tonelico cameo portion though then I guess there would be no real significance to that even if I had been right.

Don't have the sound track though, so I'll just have to wait for the game to come out in the USA to listen to the full version of Burial Chamber.
253  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: A Game Journal Reborn on: March 30, 2014, 06:51:45 AM
Started playing Virtue's Last Reward yesterday. I feel so bad for Clover getting stuck in three iterations of the Nonary game. Also feel bad for K since I am assuming he has been involved in all three also (I am assuming he is Ace, Snake, or Seven....probably Seven since he has horrible luck).

Also slowly working on my evil playthrough of Infamous. Not in a real rush on that though since I want all of Papertrail to be out before I finish that run and there are four weeks left on that.
254  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Diablo 3? on: March 29, 2014, 07:03:39 AM
Yeah that probably isn't enough to save the game for me. I hit level 70 last night. While I was playing the game, I had two realizations. 1. Grinding for legendaries would be ridiculous because odds are fairly high I would get crap I don't want. 2. I am sick and tired of elite abilities that create areas on the floor.....which is basically half of their abilities. I am going to be the final boss and then never play this stupid thing again. Unfortunately that is going to take forever. God damn clouds. >.>
255  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Gust making a spiritual successor to Ar Tonelico: Ar no Surge on: March 29, 2014, 06:56:03 AM
So quick spoilery question for people who have gotten through the Ar Tonelico cameo portion of the game...

Do you witness the Grathnode Inferia at the end of that portion of the game? I ask because listening to the Concert CDs there is one song which sounds to me like hell is being unleashed with occasional bits of softer music. At least one of those softer pieces of music, I am fairly certain one of the softer pieces is straight from the Ar Tonelico.....and that portion of music sounds like it gets stabbed. So the music sounds to me like hell being unleashed as the world of Ar Tonelico is killed aka Grathnode Inferia. So I'm curious if my interpretation of that song is right or not.
