from what i've heard it's now just going to be called "ninja turtles" so your right there will probably be some military shit thrown in there for explosions and whatnot.

I honestly think all these remakes are there for the western audience discovering SMT from Persona 3 onward, and the series's  appeal in Japan going mainstream post P3 also.

I'd say Nocturne onwards, but that's perhaps slightly pedantic, the PS2 generation REALLY made people sit up and pay attention to the series.

Though it helps that even for those that followed it from Persona 1 (or god forbid Jack Bros) were either getting games that didn't come out before or were much needed re-translations.
the first smt game i played was p3fes at behest of one of my friends who's been plaing since psx era. after that i got nocturne, dds1. i got p4 sitting here waiting to be played i got p1is for psp when it was rereleased and i ordered dds2 last night so i'd sorta agree with logick a little bit. i missed the psx era cause i was playing aD&D games on pc so take that how you will.

I agree hell snake, the demo did feel as though it was missing something, like I was playing wrong if you will. But hard is not a word I would use to describe it. It was challenging like any action game, figure out the controls and your own pacing and it's cake. The only reason the chimera was more difficult than the gryphon was because one of my guys actually got downed during the chimera fight. Plus, he took a hell of a lot longer. The gryphon was downed in less than 2 minutes.

I'm gonna toss around the idea of a preorder some more, but I doubt it honestly. I'm tired of games that basically have a 2 week shelf life and then go into cold storage or worse, a resell to lamestop. I hate it, but I need some form of multiplayer these days to warrant a purchase, or at least a promise of new content for the game. As much as I hate dlc, some cases are acceptable-ish.

yeah i was total opposite i schooled the chimera. the griffon was only hard cause i was getting to close when it wasn't on the ground yet so it'd one shot me (or that's how it felt anyhow) i was trying to get my pawn throw me up to the griffon while it was still in flight i only got it to work once and then i abandoned that method and just waited for it to land.

i did sorta feel like something was missing but i attributed it just not knowing all of the commands very well. that and there wasn't much to explore. multiplayer would be rad.

i had a pretty good time with it...it took me a while to whoop the griffons ass. i died so many times trying to get everything set up right. as the strider i hit start or select and the control diagram came up and then i started using the bow to get a feel of that. i'd say mechanically (which was my main concern) it passed. i'll probably mess around with it after work again tonight. i'll probably put a preorder in today.

A bunch of the PS2 SMT games are available again on Amazon for $20, Nocturne included: http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2012/1392.html

thanks for posting that i've been trying to get a cheap copy of dds2 for a minute.

Reading Catching Fire now. I enjoy it. A quick read. Growing attached to the characters. Having a surly Woody Harrelson as the image for Haymitch certainly is a bonus. I'm interested to see where this all goes, but it seems ridiculous at times. How does a dictator have the time to micromanage a teenager's life?

i finished the first hunger games book right after the first GoT book. i really liked it. it was the antithesis to game of thrones that complemented my experience for both. i started the second game of throne book before catching fire though. i ended up giving my paperback copy of hunger games to my friend so she could read it and when i found out i couldn't get paper backs for the next two i just bought the whole trilogy set hard bound and told my friend she could keep the paperback. we went to see the movie the other night i thought it was okay but as someone who read the book i thought there was things in the movie you wouldn't understand without reading it like the mocking jays. normally i try to watch the movie first but i read the book first on this it sorta ruined the movie for me a little.

So... I now understand something. I didn't really like Dune, and I didn't really like Game of Thrones.  This despite the fact that they are objectively recognized far and wide as being mighty good.  Seeing you all say they feel similar makes me understand better why I don't like them both.

i think those books are kinda like soap operas they take so long to get where they're going but if your patient they really flesh everything out. however i can't say that 100% on game of thrones yet. my roommate couldn't get 60 pages into the game of thrones first book he said it just wasn't compelling and the characters are all talking heads which i sorta scoffed at cause i thought he sounded quick to judge. but he sorta has a point the beginning is not action driven.

About 93 pages into Dune. It's basically been a huge info dump so far and I don't even care because it's so damn interesting.

This is kind of like Foundation only unlike Asimov, Herbert actually knew English.

i finished the first book of game of thrones about a week ago and i felt it was like dune in that everything takes a long time to play out. in dune it sorta does it to it's own benefit in that it has sociopolitical and philosophy ties to the real world that kept me engaged. game of thrones i felt the pacing was a bit off i kinda feel like it was the ramp up to the story arc rather than an arc within an arc. i'm starting the second book soon. so far the only characters i care about are john snow, arya, bran, catelyn and daenerys. the rest i feel are generally dipshits.

i read the whole dune series aside from the stuff brian herbert wrote i'm kinda curious about those books. i felt the first four dune books were really good, 5&6 sorta felt like a long epilogue.

think i might be okay with this if he named it "teenage alien ninja turtles" then it would make sense and people would differentiate maybe...

yeah i sat and farmed the dual kat guy for several days but there is a phantom dual kat guy that's supposed to drop on a more regular basis i haven't tried that route. i'm glad you can get platinum without the servers cause eventually i'm going to do it this one of the few games i feel i need to.

...that's where I'd draw the line.  If she needs me to swim in the red river to help ease her cramps a little, I'd probably do it on the condition that I get to sport warpaint like a warrior about to plunge into the thick of battle.  Drinking from it... no thank you.

In college, I saw one of my friends after he'd drank from the red river and he looked like something out of a horror movie; his beard was all gory looking.  It took me years to unsee that.

EDIT: But lemme tell you, tampons can be a punk or metal musician's best friend (along with duct tape.)  Why you ask?  Moshpits.  This one dude told me a story where this guy took a massive elbow to the face and this girl shoved two of her tampons up his nostrils.

EDIT 2: My 3rd choice superpower would either be accelerated healing or "oculus reparo" to magically fix eyeglasses like Hermione does in Harry Potter.  Why?  Moshpits again.

as a punk rock dude myself i have had this conversation a couple times, we tend to go for crude humor. my roommate and i have talked about the embarrassing super powers the power to give someone diarrhrea on command or vomit or orgasms.

i think my super power would be to be a ghost at will. imagine walking though walls, invisibility, telekinesis, talk to people in their dreams, ability to absorb energy from electrical sources being able to push your emotions on someone, possession and maybe some understanding beyond humanity all rolled into one package.

I dunno, I always liked to think of Ben Franklin as incredibly vulgar for some reason. XD

well he did have a bastard son who rose pretty high in the ranks so i don't think he was totally innocent.

even though i can't imagine it i guess i'd like to see it. if i get to take ben or follow him to a brothel and hear him say titties i'll smile. i'll be stoked if i can steal washingtons wooden teeth too.

the other day i was reading about the sex lives of the founding fathers after posting my previous comment and i found that washington made himself available to several ladies he went 0-9 till he got married you'd think he'd be luckier then again wooden teeth.
