1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The one (rather popular) RPG series i havent tried.... on: September 28, 2014, 12:30:45 AM
Well im not sure how or if its possible to see the number of page views on this forum but as far as posts go the reason I only have 118 posts is because I prefer reading the different topics and posts on this forum (and most forums) then making constant posts or posting in conversation threads. I prefer searching the forums as much as possible and just reading the different creative topics people come up with or even opinions on certain games....I literally clicked on the last page of this forum and read every post up until the current page (well most of them)

So before trying to interject or change subject on a thread before actually knowing if I read the posts ill assure everyone that yes I read every post and yes I read posts on all of my threads that I make

As I said I primarily read posts and threads....so ill only make a thread if I want differing opinions on one convenient thread (that way I can just search threads I created and go back for information)

Also as other people have stated in this very thread for example "About everythings been covered in the series by the other people but (insert opinion)"

So everyone has posted plenty of good information that I have read (very thorough is what Im trying to say) that I dont really need to/want to ask anymore questions especially

This goes for most of the threads I make when asking about a certain game

Also before someone says something along the lines of "but this a discussion forum people including the topic creator are suppose to discuss different topics" Thanks point noted
2  Media / Single-Player RPGs / The one (rather popular) RPG series i havent tried.... on: September 26, 2014, 10:27:03 PM
That is the Xenosaga games....

For some reason or another I skipped out on these games when they were first released however I remember them being quite popular and even after they were out for a while still were pretty popular

ive read mixed things on them however....

From it the CG movies being too long to the series originally being 6 games then cut down to 3 games with xenogears some how fitting in the series. also for some reason i thought the battle system was really complex and i dont remember why i thought that especially without playing it maybe thats why i skipped it

how does the series stack up to other big budget titles on the ps2 and how are the games?

i read the reviews on the site already just wanted some opinions

i remember back when these games were getting released being like "why is namco focusing on releasing these games instead of more tale games" lol

So when does Panzer Dragoon Saga become worth $300 so far im on the third disc and the story doesnt seem to stray too far from basically Edge the empire and the other bad guy all racing to get to this super important place but their hasnt really been any major plot twists at all. By the way the description is vague because of possible spoilers but anyway will there be some like major plot twists or anything really to make the story more interesting because so far the story is not that interesting. The gameplay is fun but even that is starting to get a little boring. Please do not give any spoilers but aside from that Dragon Force might have been the better choice for a game it looks very interesting and fun for a strategy game
4  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Xenogears Hyper Low-Level Challenge on: March 14, 2014, 11:12:26 PM
I've had that problem while playing normally through games where one turn is the difference between a game over and beating the boss. As far as Xenogears the game I havent played it yet although I do have it. I have to beat Suikoden II first since im in the middle of that game and stopped to play Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shining Force III and some other Sega Saturn games but looking forward to that one the game seems great

Maybe I  didnt make the first post clear enough but I already have Albert Odyssey Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shining Force 3 along with many other games that arent RPGs. I actually started to get a lot of non RPGs and thats what I mainly wanted the Sega Saturn for I just figured Id pick up a few that were on the system and thats why I bought those three. Im towards the end of Shining Force 3 and just started Panzer Dragoon Saga had a few questions about the game actually. Are all of the items that have a yellow icon (the useable items have a green icon) just to sell to the shops because they all have different descriptions that are kinda weird. By the way the first disc was about 2 hours long but I already knew going into the game that its pretty short. The game is fun to just move around but so far nothing big in the game has happened. Also does anyone remember what the 4 different dragon forms do I already know what the agility the attack and defense forms do its just the last one but as far as the game itself so far so good

been a while since I posted here and I got really into video games and collecting again. I'm a gamer first so I dont collect for no reason just to let the games sit there on the shelf I play them. Ive made a lot of big purchases lately since I bought a TurboGrafx 16 and a Sega Saturn a while ago and been enjoying both consoles a lot they are really underrated. I picked up a lot of good games for both consoles such as Blazing Lazers and Fantasy Zone Dungeon Explorer which is actually an Atlus game for the Turbografx 16 and the very rare Bonk 3 on the Saturn I bought many games like Galactic Attack and Burning Rangers and also Shining Force 3 thats actually what I wanted to mention about the Saturn it doesnt have that many role playing games but the ones it has are great like Shining Force 3. Ive never played one of these before but they seemed like Fire Emblem and I wanted to give it a try since that is one of my favorite series. Two other games that I have waiting are Albert Odyssey and Panzer Dragoon Saga the first one is a Working Designs game that looks cool I read the review on this site and that was enough to buy it and the mighty expensive Saturn RPG Panzer Dragoon Saga seems great. Any opinions on the Saturn RPG library or any games to check out was just curious thanks
7  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Anyone collect strategy guides for RPG's on: October 25, 2013, 02:39:20 PM
Curious if anyone collects strategy guides for RPG's along with the games. I just got Suikoden II with the strategy guide but honestly I'm looking to sell the guide if anyone's interested

People seem to complain about Xenogears length. That the game was intended to be longer than two discs but due to budget constraints they had to shorten it. Thus, making the second disc almost all story and no gameplay. After all the reading in Planescape Torment the reading in Xenogears might be nothing compared to it
9  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Decided to give a computer RPG a try on: October 20, 2013, 02:21:09 PM
A couple months ago I made a topic asking for recommendations on RPG's that I should try. More specifically western RPG's for consoles but I made an exception of saying no PC games. Going back a while I did buy some WRPG's such as The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings and Dragon Age Origins. I might have gotten one or two more but I can't remember. I haven't started those two due to the large amount of games I have to play before it but I decided to get rid of that PC restriction since Planescape Torment is considered by many including this site to be one of the best RPG's created. I went on good old games a website that has PC downloads and bought Planescape Torment and also downloaded Ultima IV Quest For The Avatar since it was free. I know Ultima IV is very classic and I'm not expecting to get into that game....at least not yet but so far Planescape Torment is interesting. Im playing it differently then I would usually play a game and haven't gotten that far into it yet but anyone have any recommendations on what to do? Any missables? Only just got to the town of Sigil so no spoilers please. I'm going through the game but PC games aren't really what I play so it's not the main game I'm playing through currently. I'm currently playing Eternal Sonata and when I'm done with that I plan on moving to Xenogears another game that is supposed to be really good that I recently bought. Any interesting moments anyone wants to discuss in Planescape Torment or Ultima IV? I'm interested in reading some things for a change. I've been watching a lot of youtube reviews so a discussion would be nice.

Side Note: I plan on getting Radiant Historia since that's another game that a lot of fans say shouldn't be missed. I don't know I guess recently I got into more of a single game kick. Looking for great games that aren't part of a huge series (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest) The Legend of Dragoon wasn't that good but that won't deter me from looking for and playing the hits and great games. (Not asking for a list of games just stating that) Thanks
10  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: I need a Shadow Hearts game.... on: May 08, 2013, 09:46:57 PM
I still haven't picked up any of these games even though I'm leaning more towards the second game. I just finished The Legend of Dragoon for PSX and it wasn't that great....I'd probably give it a 7 but I'm not going to go really in depth and review it. I decided to give the PS2 a break though and plugged in the Xbox 360 and started Deus Ex Human Revolution something a bit different. I figured also I need a little break from traditional turn based RPG's and Japanese style RPG's in general. (Final Fantasy VI Advance (again), Dragon Quest IV DS, Final Fantasy XII, The Legend of Dragoon) those are the last titles I've completed that I can remember so figured I'd give a try to a more western style RPG (even though it's more of an action adventure game shooter and stealth game with RPG elements) I guess I'll see how that goes

Situation changed....and also I was surprised to see Midway as the publishers of the Shadow Hearts series of games
12  Media / Single-Player RPGs / I need a Shadow Hearts game.... on: April 30, 2013, 12:52:47 PM
I guess when these games were coming out they were just one of those series that I didn't know anything about so I decided to skip them. Little did I know that they seem super interesting especially the second game in the series. Out of all the RPG series' out there I don't own any Shadow Hearts games and since I have recently been buying games belonging to series I don't have (Witcher, Eternal Sonata, Shin Megami Tensei, Mass Effect) The Shadow Hearts games especially peaked my interest. I've read that the first two games pretty much follow each other while the third game (From The New World) is like a stand alone title. I've also read different opinions on weather or not to play the first game before the second, or to just go for it and play the second game. Because of this I was going to get From The New World even though it interested me the least out of the three of them. The one I really want is Shadow Hearts Covenant and no, I can't get all three at this point only one. So can I get this one and still know what the heck is going on? Also unrelated side question which game should I go for to buy online  Suikoden II (The only one I don't have) or Xenoblade Chronicles (Had but than sold it without even playing it once)
13  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: How's Resonance of Fate on: April 21, 2013, 01:29:32 PM
I also think that people seem to right away assume others don't read similar topics, use the search function, check other sites etc... before posting their topics. Hey, some people just want a specific answer to their question or maybe feel as if what they read wasn't sufficient to their likings. It is a message board after all and if their isn't 100's of topics cluttering up the forum so what tough
14  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: How's Resonance of Fate on: April 21, 2013, 01:25:33 PM
I was looking for information and there is a lot of it in here on the battle system which is great. I'm sorry I don't/can't view topics I create constantly, as I stated I was looking for people' perspectives on the game and I read the comments. I've never played the game so I have nothing to say and I feel the posts that did talk about the game were informative enough to not warrant further questions. I unfortunately needed to get rid of Xenoblade (before even playing it) so I have some cash to pick up a few games this being one of them
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / How's Resonance of Fate on: April 10, 2013, 09:22:06 PM
I read the review over in the review section as well as watching both IGN and Gamespot's video reviews but I wanted a better perspective on the game from the community.
