ZshadeZ:  Yeah, you're not supposed to go into that area until much later in the game.  I'm surprised you were able to handle it, honestly.  Even if you're good enough to not get killed aren't your AI companions getting slaughtered?

Third try or so when I won I started with a back attack and rushed with some quick ass beatery and 2 of the little rappy looking bird guys died fairly easily. Then Slenderman touched Alvin in a bad way and he died, but I sidestepped and warped behind him and started punching him in the ass. Millia was far off and set to artes only since I thought she was supposed to be the main mage-type at that point. She auto-item res'd him while I was comboing slender and by the time my ac ran down Alwin and her were both attacking him... he ended up stunlocked by constant attacks until he died, and then we all shot up 2 levels.

The next 2 fights were a pain too, but after that it was fairly easy so I figured it was just a nice little grind spot for challenge. After clearing each map between story areas in Graces 3+ times to try to get titles and get them to level 5 and still having bosses maul me most of the way through I thought 20 minutes of grinding couldn't possibly hurt me. >.<

I've sort of changed plans, if I hit somewhere else with overly high exp that's better than that place was I'll spend an hour in it and continue to RP as epic god slaying martial arts master PHD of Asskickery.

Also I gave Jude sunglasses and made them sink into his head and colored them an aqua that matches his outfit trim. So I'm a PHD of Asskickery with insect eyes.

Beat ToG with 70ish hours in, made final save, and decided to save future arc and such for the end of play 2 to have something new to look forward to.

Started ToX a few minutes back. Changing camera angles pleases me, but the menus and amount of polish in them... very unTalesy. Just met up with Ms. Maxwell, and trying to decide on my first grind spot. I miss Lhant Hill.

*edit*

ToG -> Grind titles and grind more to max them, character progress is still pretty slow. Beat the main arc on Chaos and it was a challenge even with a few hours of grinding (ended main arc with 120 mastered titles for Asbel and 3200 ether mixer)

ToX -> Started on hard and beat down the red haired girl with my Tales skills. Got to Millia's hometown and the gate guard said the floodmeadow had tougher enemies... got wiped out the first try. Tried a few more times for the challenge and won. Ended up spending about 20 minutes running around killing things and looting without paying attention to level. Realized I'd gone from level 12 to 26. Shop levels all around 30. That was about 6 hours ago. Left to continue and realized all fights are now a joke. Been running through collecting loot and shiny things between story segments and ignoring fights. Boss fights just involve mindless artspam and laughing as they try to injure me.

Eh. All of my Tales experience to date has been grinding and keeping at the highest difficulty I can handle and having the game only really easily "breakable" with grinding at NG+ using the grade shop. I didn't really expect 20 minutes of side grinding/looting to impact the game so much and for so long. If it's this easy to grind up to uber it's good that there's a 2nd play needed to get all of the story or there'd be no reason to NG+ at all.

^ Take it back and return it. I worked in a big box store for a couple years and the things we had to take back were just plain insulting.

Winner was a half-eaten (as in 50%) pie that customer complained "tasted funny".

You could also put Visine in Costco's mother as revenge.

Take that, Costco's mom!

Ah, yes, I pay attention to things. ;)

Actually I kinda thought the same....

What the hell games does SEGA even make these days then?

Wow. It seems like SEGA now focuses on producing mostly shit, and keeping the few non-shit titles Japan only. It's a great business model. Bastards.

I have never tried this thing, and would like to correct that oversight.

Well of course we'll have cognac and scotch. And e-cigars. We can have herbalists and prescriptions both, we'll be old.

Don't laugh, people, but I'm about to start watching Hercules again.  Yes, the cheesy show from the 90's with Kevin Sorbo. I have the complete box set from Anchor Bay and it's just something about the atmosphere, characters, and the beautiful women, that just makes me love this damn show....especially the women, lol.

I have all of the Hercules, Sliders, and Highlander TV series. No laughing here, that was some good stuff. :D

I'm still techically around! I...just don't post much anymore. Also, I'm not really all that important! I'm just old. :|

Lucca's alive too!

It will be a strange day when we have to start the RPGfan retirement home... but on the other hand, it will be a badass and fun place. I'm imagining plenty of turn-based goodness, since what twitch reflexes we have will be gone; the biggest TVs we can get to soothe our old eyes; lots of pizza/chinese delivery because fuck old people food; and tons of prescription medication because we're old.

Hell, that sounds great. We should get started on this.

Or just avoid Nintendo altogether. There's not much worth playing anymore, anyway. I still haven't found a single valid reason to buy a WiiU.

Monolith's X.

My test lead asked me how much cremation services cost today.

THIS IS WHY I DON'T NETWORK.

Heh, good times. Just look him/her in the eye with a blank face and say you'll do it for $50.

I feel like the implication is that, if you're ever content with your job, you're doing it wrong -- if you're NOT trying to constantly get promoted, then just quit, because you have no place in the workforce. I don't even want to seek more money -- I'm making more than enough as it is.

Also I'm pretty sure my lack of networking is going to fuck me over eventually, too.

Eh, yes and no. Being content and comfortable where you are is awesome. When I was in my early 20s I had a paid off house I'd bought cheap as a repo and rebuilt the inside of and a decent car paid off. My bills were extremely tiny and was damned comfortable and blew money left and right and had plenty of time for gaming and whatnots so I was content with it. Then economic crap happened and I lest my good job and had always ignored the networking thing too. after a year of searching i ended up getting a much worse job at around $10/hour. not a fun job, but my bills were tiny so it paid them and left time for fun. Still good.

Then I met the girl who would become the wife. Her nursey job and mine paid about the same, she eventually moved in and we started planning wedding things. Neighborhood had been getting worse, tons of houses being abandoned, drug busts, several shootings very close by. Girl had something go bad at work and it messed her back up and she was off work. With wedding savings and bills on me the crap job I'd been content with wasn't cutting it at all... couldn't find anything else, though. Had no contacts and no replies to resumes sent. Neighborhood was becoming a place we didn't want to be very quickly, house was paid off but because of how bad the neighborhood had gotten had virtually no resale value, didn't have the income for anything better... was not fun times.

Content is awesome and I'm back to a company and position I'm content in and living in a place we're content with. I've just learned to try to keep things lined up to move forward to something higher paid where I am if needed and take the time to keep in general touch with a few former bosses/colleagues I respect. It isn't something that comes naturally to me, but I can no longer be content when I know one or two sudden big issues could pull the rug out.

If you want to grow and advance don't be content writing code or GMing a store

What if you LIKE writing code? What if you have no interest in being promoted endlessly until you end up in a position you hate or can't do?

By taking on as many tasks from the person above you as you can you're setting yourself up the same way.

1. What if you don't WANT their spot?
2. If you start doing their stuff if the haven't asked you to, you're either going to piss them off or fuck something up.

The article is advice on advancing and making the most of a career. If you're happy where you are and don't want to move forward in the chain... then don't? I don't think anyone is holding a gun to your head demanding you do so. If they are, call the police.

Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks did I SERIOUSLY just misspell exsanguinate as exangenuate?

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonnazar/2013/07/23/20-things-20-year-olds-dont-get/ As a 20-something with an employed, this is depressing.

With an employed? o_O

There's some great advice in the article, but it's missing my favorite piece... don't just do your job, do your job and as much of your bosses job as you can. If you want to grow and advance don't be content writing code or GMing a store, try to get involved in showing the new coders or GMs the ropes and helping get them fit in and productive. Train the people under you to be able to do your job and take over as needed, this takes work off of your shoulders and gives you space to take on higher tasks while also training them up for the promotion to take your spot. By taking on as many tasks from the person above you as you can you're setting yourself up the same way. When that supervisor is promoted or leaves the company and you've been doing half his/her work you're an easy person to bump up to the spot, especially when you've already trained people under you to take over your spot.

*edit*

And to add my the haps, just got my pay stub and it's $700 more than expected. Pleasing.

You can't look at that picture without this song. You just  can't.

Grand Cross!

I have the soundtracks for all the old PS games... think my favorite song is Generations of Fate, even though PSIII was my least favorite of the main series.

Why? A single player focused PS game, finally.... and it just sounds worrisome more than exciting.

It's Phantasy Star, you don't need to have a planet where existing skill sets won't work. There's nothing wrong with having an alien priest, a guy with a sword, an android with giant cannons, a genetically engineered girl with cat ears, and a wizard all working together.

"But we need to create a realistic world. Why would someone fight with swords when such amazing magic and cyborg-cannons exist?"

Fuck you guys. Some people suplex trains.

Will I buy it? Almost certainly. Will I gripe about it? I have since PSO came out, I'm not going to stop now. Give me back my Algol solar system, damn you.
