241  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: RPGFan Music Podcast (Rhythm Encounter) Thread on: March 16, 2014, 08:18:07 PM
Listened to all of them except for the final movement, and have enjoyed them all quite a bit.  Well done, fellas.

Also have to say: of all the RPGFan staff and guests who had picks for the show, my favorites were John's.  Now I really want to DL a copy of The Raven.

Eesh.  I've tried 7th Saga a couple of times, as it's the all-time favorite RPG of one of my close friends (for real...).  The farthest I ever got was using the alien, up to a betrayal by one of the other main characters.  I think I had three runes?  Whatever.  Brutal game.

Castlevania on NES, Castlevania Dracula X on SNES, Rondo of Blood, Super Castlevania 4 -> Pick one, they are all extremely difficult.
I've beaten all four of those except for TG Rondo (only beat PSP version), and I thought that Dracula X was the hardest by FAR.  It's also the worst of those four, although I'm mostly giving a pass to OG Castlevania 1 for being the first in the series.

TG Rondo and PSP Rondo are the same game with different graphics, bit by bit they are exactly the same level wise.
Dracula X has somewhat cheap and unfair level designs at times, I agree that it's the weakest of the four but I still think it's massively awesome.

Massively awesome!?  I think it's the worst Castlevania game I've ever played.  By a significant margin.  Rondo and Super IV are massively awesome.  Castlevania 1 is a classic that has aged okay, and Dracula X isn't very good at all.  But whatever.  For awhile there I tried to beat basically every Cv I possibly could.  And I sure played a bunch.

starting up Persona 2: Innocent Sin and WOW, it doesn't waste time.  I was expecting a more drawn-out beginning.  Now to get to the grind....

Wanted to watch a sports anime since I am enjoying Kuroko sooo much, watched 2 episodes of Prince of Tennis....and then realized it's 178 episodes!!! WTF!!!
If you haven't seen Slam Dunk yet then I don't even know, man.

BTW, the Kuroko manga is really good, but I'm worried it's about to end.  The only suitable opponent after the current game is probably... America.

Frog Fractions 2 KS is now live

If you haven't played the original, you're welcome. A full playthrough takes maybe an hour.  It'll be the best hour of your ****ing day.

I saw the word about Frog Fractions 2, so I fired up the original for the second time.  First time was around a year ago.  Still the best browser-based game of all time.  OF. ALL. TIME.

The only 2014 KickStarter that matters.
251  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Completion List 2014 on: March 06, 2014, 05:04:33 PM
1. Ys Seven
2. Rayman Origins
3. Assassin's Creed II
4. Dust: An Elysian Tail
5. The Walking Dead: Season One

Currently very early in Vagrant Story, midway through Mark of the Ninja, near the end of Persona 3 Portable (late November).  Don't know if that second one is going to happen at all.

Probably Dracula X for the SNES? Don't play that, guys. It's not great and unnecessarily hard. Play Rondo of Blood or Super Castlevania IV instead.

Played the first hour or so of Vagrant Story today.  I'm really enjoying the super-cinematic presentation coupled with aged-poorly PSX graphics - it's funky looking, but I mostly dig it.  Still getting used to the switching in and out of normal mode and battle mode; still think combat is weird, but not bad-weird.  Need to play more to get a feel for this game.

I rolled a few dice to determine which game from my backlog list I would play next; got Vagrant Story.  Let's see how this goes....

Mark of the Ninja is pretty good.  2D stealth is better than 3D stealth, I've discovered.
