Things moving along quite well in Final Fantasy XII. I'm ~10 hours in with six party members, I've done a bunch of marks, and I'm about to cross the desert into the tomb of an ancient king. License Board isn't my favorite thing ever, but the combat is better than I expected and I like the guild framework they use for sidequests (it's totally ubiquitous now, but it still works). I doubt I'll see this thing through to get every weapon and summon and bounty, but I'll get some decent mileage out of it before the credits roll.

Decided to bust out a few older DS games and see where I was. I forgot how BAD the DS was for online connectivity - some of its games won't recognize internet connections that use WPA keys.
In other news Devil Survivor is pretty cool.

This past Thursday I downlaoded Kenka Bancho and Hexyz Force on from Atlus's PSN sale. So far Hexyz Force is really generic but decent. Only about two or three hours in. Haven't tried Bancho yet.
Also, just got back from a wedding, and I received Final Fantasy Dissidia Duodecim as my groomsman gift (which I wasn't aware was a thing). So sometime this week I'll import my ancient Dissidia save and try out the new charas.

Smartphones are fun.
Lies! I was anti-smartphones until my job gave me a Blackberry Torch last year. Became a key part of inter-office communication very soon after. A few months later, I received an iPhone as a birthday gift in February earlier this year. Now I can't live without the motherfuckers.

When I played Revelations: Persona a decade ago I thought it wasn't very good. Now that I fuckin' love Persona 3 I'm curious about the recent PSP Persona games. Can anyone honestly recommend them, or should I just stick to the new class of more recent SMT games?
I'm not sure if I can recommend the first Persona for PSP for you. If you hated Revelations, there's no way you'll like the PSP remake. I highly recommend Innocent Sin, however. Great story and characters, but the battle system might be a little archaic for your tastes if you're used to P3 and P4. I've played every Dragon Quest to completion, so I think I can handle archaic battle systems. I'll take y'alls recommendations under advisement, but I think I'll borrow a friend's PSP with Persona Uno and Innocent Sin first to see just how I like it. I know at least two people in my old college gaming club have both.

January in Persona 3 FES is taking up may more time than I planned. I also finished On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness really quickly, but I think the only extra content is the final Arena boss.

I kept my PS2 so I wouldn't have to worry about backwards compatibility. My PS3 is the 160gb model.
I have most of the PS1 RPGs I want, with the notable exceptions of Koudelka, Suikoden II, and Vandal Hearts. I'd never heard of Koudelka prior my internet-awareness years (2001-ish) and the other two were games I rented, mostly enjoyed, but never got very far with. Is Saiyuki any good? It's not based on that anime, is it?

For multiplayer action, Monster Hunter 2 + Unite.
For RPG goodness, Dragon Quest.
For "strategy", Disgaea.
I have invested a disgusting amount of time into each of those. A few years ago I would have also mentioned Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Tales Of, or other games, but those three are the ones that are most current and the ones I keep going back to.
