I was at a friend's BBQ before he gets shipped off to Afghanistan, so I couldn't make it this week.  I'll try and make it next time, though! Do you have any ideas about what game it's going to be?

The website has changed the "fatty" designation for the fat kid to "otaku" so that's over with.  I'm still way interested in this game and I'll definitely buy it soon after I get a Vita.  Which I'm guessing will be sometime in 2014.

I'm not 100% sure I'll make it tonight. Medium-busy day today.  We'll see what happens.

Fast Travel kind of ruined Skyrim for me. I just couldn't NOT use it, you know? It should have been an option only available at cities or something.
I'm the exact opposite.  If I didn't have Skyrim, I would have been too disgusted to finish it.  I will always welcome fast travel as an option for open-world stuff.  If there's no fast-travel, then there should at least be methods of going super fast.  Like riding power lines in inFamous.

I finished Tactics Ogre a few nights ago, so it's very, very likely I fire up the Wii for the first time in months.  Might even start XenoBlade, which I, uh, bought at launch.

I'm pumped for the Disgaea 4 Vita port.  By the time we get it (USA) I'll have a Vita, and I've barely touched the Disgaea 4 postgame.  Vita should have new content, some of the DLC built-in, and be on the sexiest small screen available.  I'm 100% okay with this.

Final set of battles in Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis.  Looks like at least five in a row without saving in between.  Heaven help me....

NEW BETTER EVERYTHING

Two things: I want more Japanese games to receive English-language versions and I want a movement *away* from AAA titles.  Give us more indie $5 RPGs, more small-studio $20 RPGs, and more self-publishing options, and give me a good amount of variety within those.  PSN store, XBLA store, Steam, whatever.  All of those.  There's a reason I'm basically a Sony fanboy now that we've seen the new consoles.

Pokemon White: Caught a Solosis. Named it Membro.
When I found out that there was a Pokemon named Solosis I practically flipped a ****.  "Solosis" is only one letter away from my real-life surname.  Let's just say that I definitely had a Reungiclus in my final six. Along with Haxorus, Hydreigon, Mienshao, Excadrill, and Serperior.

Finally got around to the new episode.  Fantastic work!  My only regret is putting forth a second Lufia II song when I could have shown off Skies of Arcadia's dynamic battle themes or something from Tenpei Sato.  Still a solid ep!

I like the fact that it takes place in Boston and uses real locations around the city, even if their geography is dead wrong (The statehouse is about 3 blocks from Park Street station for instance) creative liberties and all.
I felt the same way about Fallout 3, since it takes place in the DC area right where I live.  Seeing certain locations, especially the Metro, was practically surreal.  My hometown was appropriated into a suburb of cannibals.  Love it.

Possibly noteworthy: There's a "Persona Music Fes" event happening on August 13th.  Maaaybe they could have some kind of Persona 5 reveal then?  It'll definitely be on people's minds.

Eh.  Every game after Persona 1 has characters from prior games in it, at least in passing.  They aren't direct sequels, but they're iterations in the same franchise that take place in the same world.  I don't mind the semantics of "sequel" in this case.

My guess - we get some kind of teaser at TGS in September, then a 2014 release date.  This is my very, very hopeful guess.

Since it was on sale and there was a buy one get one half-off deal I finally picked up two games that I've wanted forever. I got Valkyria Chronicles and Soul Calibur V for $22. Valkyria Chronicles is extremely good, I love the art and gameplay. This game is as good as I thought it would be when it was released, but there was always other stuff in the way. I'm 9 chapters in and it has been tough, but fair. I've only lost one mission (the one with the huge tank with a million guns) and I thought Selvaria as backup was pretty bullshit and unfair, but the rest of it has been great.
That first mission with Selvaria is a bit of a breakpoint.  One of the hardest missions in the game.  When you're in similar situations later you either have an abundance of cover or an equalizer technique of sorts.

And Darilon, man, hearing you talk about those makes me want to replay DAO again.  I beat that game twice back to back in 2011 (plus Awakening once and DA2 once), but more doesn't sound half-bad.

So right now I think I'm in the home stretch of Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis and I will soon be looking for the next thing to play.  Right now leaning towards XenoBlade Chronicles.
