1  Media / The Soundroom / Ni no Kuni : Wrath of the White Witch on: February 01, 2013, 04:26:17 PM
Great news for Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch!

The soundtrack from the PS3 game (2 CD) composed by Joe Hisaishi and a collector color booklet has just been announced by Namco Bandai and the label Wayo Records! Apparently, the item includes 12 exclusive tracks, that were never released on the japanese OST :)
Definitely, a limited collector item to own.

Again, Joe Hisaishi did a great job, just listen to the worldmap theme, or the ending theme song!

They ship worldwide, needless to say I already ordered mine...
More info here on the official shop page of the label:

One of 3DS's best game as of today. It also known for the quality of its musics.
Just in case you did not have a chance to check out this beautiful soundtrack, well, it just won the "best score award" on the 2012 annual game music awards (organized by Square Enix Music Online : http://www.squareenixmusic.com/features/awards3/bestscore.shtml)

Mitsuda, Koshiro, Sakuraba, Sakurai... the best composers worked on the musics for the better! It's still possible to grab each composers' style.

Here's a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY1IRYWrDgY

The boss themes are so majestic and the quality is amazing for 3DS. The OST is actually sold out verywhere, and it costs almost $80 if importing from Japan...
it can still be found on some online shops.

did you have a chance to play the game?
3  Media / The Soundroom / Re: Masashi Hamauzu's new album: Black Ocean ! on: August 09, 2012, 06:07:06 AM

I received my precious package last week! and the handsigned picture was really there :)

No surprise, this is clealy a Hamauzu project, and what a great one!
It's a if he took the best from Saga Frontier II, FFX, FFXIII and XIII-2, with a spicy classical taste to give life to a wonderful atmosphere in which I was quickly immersed.
The track "Giant" is typically what I could expect on huge worldmap. Imeruat, is also one of my top-3 ! Mina's voice is always charming and efficiently adding this little something to the melodies.

If you have not had chance to listen yet, I recommand strongly this album!
I wish I could understand more of Ainu language now !

So anyone grabbed the CD ? It was released 2 days ago..
There are more and more samples on the official page, and it doesn't sound so bad after all ^^
Stil I can't understand why the track "Machinaries" was chosen among the other ones.

Honestly it is a bit disappointing. I was expecting something more lively, with better instrument quality. The result is still charming of course! I played the game so many times and know the melodies by heart with the Snes sound library.
Games were so good at the time!
6  Media / The Soundroom / Masashi Hamauzu's new album: Black Ocean ! on: July 23, 2012, 04:43:59 AM
If you have played Saga Frontier II, Unlimited Saga or  FF13, you know who is Masashi Hamauzu :)

I just heard of his brand new project: Imeruat!
He teamed up with Mina an Ainu descent singer and 4 talentuous musicens from which Hijiri Kuwano! (Violin performer on Chrono cross, Noir...)
There is a new album called Black Ocean, which looks quite good !

I found an interesting review and an awesome track here!

The CD was only available in Japan until now, but a french label (Wayo Records) is now taking care of worldwide distribution and they ship for a reasonable price (cheaper than importing from Japan^^)

I'm ordering now, hopefully I should receive my CD in few days!

Can't wait..
