Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tales of Xillia panel at WonderCon!
|

Yesterday, I got the chance to sit in on the Tales of Xillia panel at WonderCon and even meet Hideo Baba! The panel showed off some new footage and even one of the fully voiced skits. (it was about Jude not knowing what Bazongas are. Haha!)
Pros to the panel: The voice actor who plays Jude was there and talked about working for the Tales Of franchise. There was a funny video from the actress who plays Milla, because she couldn't be there. :( I got to see a little bit of extra battle footage and watch the whole opening to the game on a huge screen around a bunch of people that are as big of Tales Of fans as me.
Cons to the panel: They still didn't announce an actual release date like I was hoping they would. The only "surprise" was that they are bringing Tales of Xillia figurines to North America. The panel just wasn't very long. And I didn't win the gift bag raffle which had A LOT of great things!!
All in all, it was completely worth it. I got Hideo's autograph and I even got to film a little interview for the Tales Of YouTube channel! All it did was build my anticipation even more for this game. :)

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Should I replay FFX or wait for the remake?

The difference between this and a FFVII remake is like the difference between fixing up a car and building a whole new car from scratch from already existing blueprints.
Whelp, you got me there. I was somewhat proud of my analogy but yours puts it to shame. I guess I'm just a little bitter because I feel like the differences in graphics aren't significant enough to warrant a whole new release on the PS3 and Vita. ...but knowing me, I'll probably still get it. Haha!

I'm not completely sold on this game. I really enjoyed FFX. But I don't believe it really needed to be re-done. I feel like this is time and energy that could be spent on much better things. Polishing up ALREADY 3D graphics is like tracing over a picture and everyone saying "ooooh, what a pretty picture!" I'm not trying to sound too negative, I'm just disappointed that they put so much money into remaking this when much better games like FF6 and FF7 are still yet to have a worth while remake.

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Screw announcements, let's just release the game (Atelier Totori Plus)

Soooo, help me out. I bought Atelier Rorona a while ago and I just never got around to playing it. I got it for a good deal, so I just grabbed it assuming I'd play it eventually. It has the same feel and graphics as my Tales Of games(at least the way the box looked). After reading up more on it, I became more and more skeptical about it.
My question is this: should I play it? Like, is it worth it? If so, I have a whole new series to get into and a Vita game to play so my poor Playstation Vita will stop gathering dust. But all the alchemy doesn't exactly sound fun to me. I like decent characters and stories and fun battles and pretty graphics. Spending most of the game finding items to make other items sounds.....iffy.
What's all your feedback on this predicament?

So far, all the REALLY good ones have already been mentioned. But here's my opinion:
Trails in the Sky is great and needs the support so we can see the 2 sequels come state-side.
Persona 3 Portable is wonderful if you have 70+ hours to kill. Haha.
Riviera is a fun little short game.
Ys Seven was the best game I personally played on the PSP.
Final Fantasy 4: The Complete Collection if you want a BUNCH of great nostalgia.
And 2 turn based RPGs that I particularly enjoyed that weren't mentioned yet are Crimson Gem Saga(a fun, although pretty challenging game) and Hexyz Force(a fun and pretty damn easy game).
Yup, that's all I can come up with at the moment. I hope you find a good one! :)

On my end, it's not being talked about more because there isn't anything TO talk about. Game's set to come out in late summer/fall IIRC, and I don't care to follow every piece of information until I basically see everything the game has to show. Though since this has been brought up: let's link to the soundtrack on Amazon.com and iTunes.I'm sorry! I didn't mean to step on any toes in bringing this up! I just got excited about it and was wondering who else was too. But you're right, there isn't a whole lot of info on it just yet. But I did watch this video of the gameplay and it basically had me drooling on my keyboard. Haha.

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Ys: Memories of Celceta...

I'm kind of surprised this isn't being talked about more. Now, granted, I didn't get into the Ys series until recently with Ys Seven. But after beating that game, it immediately became one of my favorite games to date! And the fact that Ys: Memories of Celceta is made the same way, has me thrilled! This year has been one great announcement after the next...at least in my book. :)
So my question is: Is anyone else as excited for this release as I am? And if you played Ys Seven, how did YOU like it?

Actually, yes! My friends and I play it! I didn't go as over board as my friends though. They bought almost ALL of them! Seriously...there is a book shelf dedicated to all of the Skylanders he has. ....it's a lot. :)
We really like it. It's fun with 2 people, having a character that's yours makes playing with it feel a little more special, there are lots of different moves to learn, and the dialogue can be funny sometimes. Haha.
In conclusion, it's a great game if you like collection stuff. Because that EXACTLY what this game is. And the new one coming out later this year will only add to collecting insanity.

I played through Legend of Dragoon 3 times because I had to use each set of characters. I remember enjoying it each time I played it. The localization may leave something to be desired, but for the time, it was pretty good. It was the battle system that did it for me. It was fresh and challenging and rewarded you for mastering it.
I hope you enjoy it. I thought about re-starting it, but I think now a days, it might be a little to slow to play over again. The best advice I can give you, use the old guy. He may seem silly, but he's pretty much the strongest character. haha. :)

I agree with everyone. I NEVER thought I would be able to play this game!
It looks like we are FINALLY getting a year of RPG's! The last 2 years have been dedicated to the fighting games, but now it's our time to shine!! :)
