So, I'm going to have a lot more freetime coming up over the next few months, and was thinking of finally giving this a whirl, but I've got a question or two first. While I did play the first DA, and actually got pretty far in it, I never finished it, nor did I even touch Origins or DA2, and I don't remember what happened in the first DA all that well either. With that said, is it alright to go into DA3 not having played all of the previous games, or should I really have played them first to understand what's going on in 3?

My buddy is playing with no prior DA experience and is understanding everything pretty well. The game doesn't really ask for any prior knowledge of the series, and feels a lot like a quiet reboot. Characters from the previous games are in here, and it is a treat for fans, but you really aren't missing out on a whole lot if you haven't played.

I've always hated Dark Souls but I picked this game up on a whim anyway. The new aesthetic was the main reason. The combat is much more aggressive. After that first boss fight I got really into the game. The second boss is a lot of fun, and third boss is also just as fun. I've raged so much at this game, but for some reason I can't look at it with anything but fondness. It makes me want to pick up Souls 2 for PS4.

So does anyone have tomorrow hype? I've got tomorrow hype.

Season 2 of Aldnoah.Zero has been a lot slower overall. I do enjoy the larger focus on Slaine though. Next episode things look like they are gonna pick up.

I don't know how, but is Durarara Season 2 some how better than Durarara? This season has just been damn solid so far. Hopefully the rest of it can keep up, but the show shows no signs of slowing down the greatness.

I started watching Beyond the Boundary, and so far I'm really enjoying it. It reminds me of both Haruhi and Chunibyo (I wonder why), but with a larger focus on action. So far it is really good.

This looks OMFG amazing. I love those damn menus, and the art in general. Every thing seems a lot dirtier. The red reminds me a lot of Innocent Sin, and even if the game turns out to be nothing like IS, it is still a good first impression. If that cat mascot is the new Teddy, I might have to cry though.

Just beat Bayonetta. Decided to turn it on Easy just to get the game done. Turned the game boring, but you do what you gotta do. I won't be able to start Bayonetta 2 for the next week, so hopefully I won't forget the story of the first one by then. I already forgot the name of the antagonist of the first one. Cause he came appropriately right out of no where.

I recently picked up Bayonetta 2 on Wii U after trying the amazing Bayonetta 2 demo. Unfortunately that means I should probably play through Bayonetta 1. It took me until Chapter 10 to completely realize it...but Bayonetta is terrible. Sincerely, one of worst games by Platinum Games. I don't know what it is, from instant death QTEs, terrible story (which is mostly unimportant), occasional broken difficulty, and for the love of god if I hear fly me to the moon one more time I'm going to break this thing.

I got to around Chapter 4 in Bayonetta 2 and most of my grievances have been solved. In fact, I LOVE this game. The difference between the two is insane, for what is essentially just tweaking. I think just a better polish really helps Bayonetta 2 shine. Really excited to dig into that game once I beat the first piece of crap.

I wouldn't say this one is good...in fact it is one of the most terrifying music videos I've ever watched.

Kids-MGMT It does fit the song really well though.
9  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Doctor Who on: September 11, 2014, 07:54:35 AM
I'm still weary of Capaldi. I'm liking him as a doctor, but his episodes have just been booooooooring. Into the Dalek was fun, but Dinosaurs in the 1800s (don't feel like looking up the title) and Robot of Sherwood were just okay. Robot of Sherwood was definetly better than his first episode, but I've never been a huge fan of when the Doctor visits the past, and I've ALSO never been a fan of Robin Hood. It was a good comedy episode, but otherwise I was bored throughout it. Next week looks to be a pretty good horror episode though, and I will NEVER write of Doctor Who as a show. Unless a girl becomes Doctor. Its not sexist thing but...Just think, if the Doctor were to be come a woman wouldn't his personality change completely? Which goes against that there is always a little bit of the Doctor in there. And I don't seem to recall David or Chris ever hitting on Jack Harkness.

Did anyone think that MAYBE this is just the JRPG version of Harry Potter? I'd buy that. I'd buy the shit out of that.

Disappointed about the HS setting to say the least, but I spose Persona games have always been about highschoolers (with the exception of EP but seeing how it was the second half of IS I'm gonna go ahead and count it as a HS setting anyway). I would have much preferred a young adult setting, especially since it seems ALL SMT games now a days has you playing as as a student. I think the last one that didn't was freaking Strange Journey. Which was a crazy long time ago. Like five years right? Still if they decide to follow a more mature route than P4's Friendship is Forever and Stay True to Yourself methodology than I will be ecstatic.

From the trailer it seems to have a darker vibe to it than P4 was. All that red and the breaking chains symbolism. But then again the next trailer could completely change all that.

I dunno. I dig it though.

P4 was hardly 'dark' game. As far as I remember it never reached some of the most dense moments P3 had.
Yup.  One of the reasons why P4 is so much better than P3.

I'm really intrigued by what the Persona team does with a dense cityscape as opposed to a country village.  Hopefully it actually "feels" dense and crowded as you travel through it.

And... I hope that I can stay spoiler-free on this one.  I really do.  I usually don't care about being spoiled by things, but I want to play Persona 5 early on mostly in the dark.  I'd like to hear some additional news about Persona 5's basic social and combat systems, and maybe blurbs and pics of the early cast.  Like, the P5 versions of MC, Junpei/Yosuke, and Yukari/Chie.  Three characters, three Personae, and some info on basic systems.  Then I'll try to black out any other P5 info I come across.

I don't know man, I find Persona 3 much better than Persona 4. I'd choose an apocalypse over an episode of Scooby-Doo any day.
Still I'm psyched that P5 is launching on PS4 now. They are going to get a lot more money as a result and...well I get to play it. HUZAH!

Don't forget, RPGs aren't the ONLY games out there man. There are a lot of great ones on the console, the recent port of Diablo 3 happens to be the best version of the game you can get. Infamous was indeed GREAT, and I actually got Skylanders and happen to be greatly enjoying it. The console has a lot to offer, and come October even more to offer. I love RPGS too, but if you really loved them you would get a Vita (if you don't already have one) or 3DS (if you don't already have one)

Beat the game last night at level 50. I went through it on Normal at first, but the game was such a joke. I eventually joined up with a buddy and we bumped the difficulty up to Hard, beat Diablo like he was nothing. Then bumped it up to Expert when we hit Act 5 and two other people joined. It devolved into absolute enjoyable chaos. Eventually everyone ditched so I left it on expert and fought Maltheal. I heard stories about that dude being difficult, but I killed him with one try. Probably because Crusader is hilariously overpowered.

I am well aware that this is not an rpg. I edited my original post 2 seconds after finishing it to clarify that posting it here was an accident, and asked the mods to move it...
