I was rooting for Sony, but that would have probably been a step in the wrong direction. Owned by any 1 hardware company wouldn't be that great.

I was so excited for Tuesday, I mean GTA V is going to be amazing! Then I found out I work from 4-9 tuesday, wednesday, and thursday. I have school 8:40- 3:25. I. Am. Going. To. Never. Sleep. Again.

Anyway, according to Rockstar, 500 missions ship with GTA Online.

Not even a year yet, so its ripe for expanding :D Its called Enemy Within, its standalone for 40 bucks on consoles, and 30 on PC. It adds a lot of new features like mechs, genetic enhancements, a new resource called Meld, 40 new maps to add to the 80 already in the game, this includes UFO's in cities now, which is something I wanted to see in the original.

Overall it looks like Firaxis is taking the quality of expansions of Civilization and putting it in an XCOM. Day one buy for me.

Reviving the dead topic, but anyone else excited for the new expansion? Best thing announced at Gamescom so far for me! A new class, more maps, more units, hopefully a bunch of fixes that the game needs. This game will probably keep my Xbox alive for a few months after new console launch.

36  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Did I get the shittiest KOTOR 2 ending or does the ending just suck? on: August 11, 2013, 04:20:18 PM
He said he played with the restoration mod, so I'm just going to go ahead and say that the ending for the game blows. I did like the final conversation with the hooded woman, I forgot her name though.

Wow, that original ending sounded bad. I mean they probably would have made it work, but now it just sounds baaaad.
38  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Saints Row 4 - Wub Wub Wub on: August 09, 2013, 10:46:15 PM
I outright despised Saints Row 3 compared to the first two. The first two were ridiculous with out  getting rid of some actual dark moments. Saints Row 3 just had the ridiculousness, not to mention just plain unfun missions. This looks to be continuing the downward spiral of stupid. They are also bringing a certain character back just cause. Even though the third one had the balls to do go there in the beginning just to get a cheap reason for them to go after the Syndicate. Saints Row was my first 360 game. Saints Row 3 was my last Saints Row game. This series is dead to me.

Also this is all obviously IMO, I can see why people are excited and like the third one.

Am I the only one who would love to use Sonic as a demon? He looks nothing like a hedgehog, maybe that is his secret backstory!

What difficulty were you playing on? Didn't die during that once. I had more trouble with the bloater fight, mainly because I was trying to find ways around it.

I didn't really have any bugs that I can recall either. Obviously with a game this elaborate, some people are gonna have them and some aren't, but my experience felt very solid, and watching my brother play through the entire game, his was as well. And even then, glitches never really bother me all that much, but that's just my personal experience.

Vis-a-vis shooting and enemies-- yes, I enjoyed fighting both immensely. Fighting humans involved totally different tactics than Infected, and I liked that.

And like I said, it comes down to story versus systems. Some sequences in the game "broke rules" in order to change up the experience. I know Rob didn't like those (an Infected spots you no matter what, you're hanging upside down with unlimited ammo, etc), but I thought they were excellent and kept you on your toes.

While I'm sorry others didn't have the same experience, this game is, again, easily one of my favorites I've ever played. If you didn't like the story until the end, that's totally cool, but I was 100% invested. The acting was outstanding, the voicing was perfect, and I was completely invested in all of the characters. Where ND really succeeded was including so many different ages and kinds of characters, which basically ensured that no matter who you are, you can relate to someone. As someone very close to my two brothers,
Code:
Sam and Henry's arc left me literally stunned. When I watched my brother play through the game this week, I could see that he was moved by it as well.
If you look at it as "THIS IS JUST A ZOMBIE STORY," sure, that kind of reductionism will make you value it less. But The Walking Dead is "JUST A ZOMBIE STORY," and everyone seems to adore that. Really it's about how well you get to know these characters, and in this regard, TLOU is an unmitigated success. I will remember the characters in the game forever, I enjoyed the gameplay, and I adored the fact that Naughty Dog didn't feel the need to spell out absolutely everything in the game. Naughty Dog made a world that I felt like I knew incredibly well despite only seeing certain sides of it.

So yeah, my GOTY all up in here. Totally cool if others don't feel that way, but I'll argue dissenters into oblivion :)

I really enjoyed the game, but to me Bioshock Infinite still takes that GOTY title. I loved the game, but the parts where it 'broke rules' didn't keep me on my toes, it just kind of pissed me off. Getting hung upside down and having to shoot waves of zombies with infinite ammo, if he had that much ammo, why the fuck wasn't he using it more often? Its a great game to be sure, just not the pinnacle of gaming as some like to think.

Also the just another zombie story thing, I think people don't levy that complaint at The Walking Dead because that really hasn't been done in gaming before. A game with such a similar premise as this one coming a year later is why some will levy that complaint at this game, instead of the previous. The way they go about telling the story is different, but the mood they set is similar.

Also spoilers for both TWD and Last of Us:
Code:
Kenny's family tragedy > Henry and Sam tragedy.

I was thinking about getting it with my fire emblem and SMT IV money, is it worth it?

The rumors are saying that Nintendo is poised to pick up Atlus. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/07/rumour_nintendo_is_shaping_up_to_acquire_troubled_atlus
Persona 5 for the WiiU?  I think that would be a system seller.

I actually have no problem with the voices, but you'd think something so important would be pronounced properly.

It's like the ORIGAHMI KILLAH all over again.
Then again, I don't think the mainline SMT games have really good dialogue anyway.

How so?

Mainline SMT's are all about the story, atmosphere, and gameplay. The dialogue is kind of short in supply, especially in Nocturne.

The only reason I understand that reference is because I just got the platinum for that. I don't think samurai is being mispronounced, I think they are trying to kind of create their own dialect for the world of Mikado. If you think about it that way, the stilted dialogue is more understandable. Then again, I don't think the mainline SMT games have really good dialogue anyway.
