Just don't put the focus on the P4 crew. They have an the game, an anime, a fighting game, a manga, and a remake on the way. It could be epic, but I'm so sick of Persona 4 right now.
SOCIAL LINKS MUST END! There I said it, they were interesting, but unless they kind find a way to spice them up again, they can be done away with.
i'll grant you that they could be spiced up but if you get rid of them altogether i think you'd have a pretty boring game i haven't finished the second half of FES for that reason. Who says P5 will even have the one year calendar? Could be more standard rpgish. Kind of like Persona 2 rather than 3 and 3.5- cough, cough, sorry I ment 4.

I don't care how well the game sold, we don't need another one. The only thing they could possibly do is add more characters in a re-release, but that would just be bull. They need to let the characters of P3 and P4 live in peace. Especially the P4 characters. They need to live in peace. And leave me alone. Forever.
P5: NEW CHARACTERS PLEASE. OH PLEASE GOD PLLLLLLEASE!
Edit: For the record, I don't hate P4 characters, in fact I love them. However, Persona 4 needs to die a very quiet death after Persona 4 Golden comes out. The characters REALLY need to be retired.

the problem with what some of you are suggesting is that the ending of P4 arena is clearly setting up a sequel. though i dont think any P4 characters will be around for that except naoto unless some join mitsuru's anti shadow task force.
Obviously it's setting up a sequel...a sequel to P4A. I mean heck, this is Arcsys we're talking about. When have they ever released only a single iteration of one of their fighting games? There's going to be a P4A-2 or something. I also think it's crazy to assume that P5 will continue a storyline set up in a spin-off fighting game, canon or not NO P4A 2! No way. Seriously no. Although it would be awesome for them to have characters from all Persona's in P5. Make it like a grand finale of the series. The final battle. It would be badass. I'd rather the game be more standard rpg than the school year/social links formula. It got stale halfway through P4.

I just pray you don't play as Elizabeth. If you do it'll be like jumping from Innocent Sin to Enternal Punishment and your left wondering: Why the hell is Maya not talking?

I think the "core" story is brilliant, concerning Labrys and how she got there.
The slight "downfall" is due to the visual novel format and canon ending, so that repetition is a bit inevitable. It is also interesting that, the story is really more as a continuation of P3 rather than P4, maybe they should have called it Persona 3 Arena:)
Well it doesn't really focus on the P3 characters as much as the P4 ones. Its more just another, save the person from their shadow, story that P4 used.

I can safetly say, this game's story...blows. Would anyone have been sore if they left P3 and P4 alone? They could have done this way better as in, not give us 11 OF THE SAME GODDAMN STORIES. They could have gone the Mortal Kombat route, but they didn't. Seeing the same story over. And over. And over. And over, has made me very pissed. Sure, I love seeing P3 and P4 characters interact with each other, but they barely frickin do! The thing that pissed me off the most, was the goddamn cliffhanger. Seriously? You introduce a cool plot point, and then you END. THE. GAME? No.
The one bright shinning part of this game is Labrys' story. So sad. Yet even there, its reaaaaallly predictable. I hope we never see another Persona fighting game, because Atlus does NOT know how to write them!
Also, plot hole: WHY IN THE HELL AREN'T THEY WEARING GLASSES?

Yeah I just completed Yosuke's and Yu's stories. Out of all of the Persona 4 Characters stories, Yosuke's is my favorite. I love the hint of romance between him and Labrys. Its a shame that I know have to play through 10 other endings that amount to the same thing. Also I love that ending theme. Has Persona ever had a bad one?
My one main problem with Labrys's story thinking back...the writers didn't follow the rule of SHOW not TELL! More anime cutscenes could of done well, or actually letting us fight! It worked well enough either way.
