I was genuinely sad to hear this news... they used to print his reviews in The Post-Standard (central new york newspaper) and I would read them every week... I didn't always agree with him but his opinion was always worth hearing out...

Anyway do you guys have any particular film critics you read?
I dig theflickfilosopher.com but she can go a bit overboard with her feminist overreactions at times (i.e. she slammed I Love You, Man for promoting negative stereotypes of how men should behave.. which I didn't take away from that movie at all..) but I generally enjoy her reviews..

Dude... don't get too cheap of a guitar.. it'll make it more difficult to enjoy playing at first, and you'll grow out of it quickly regardless.
You may as well just invest a bit of money for something that will actually be fun to play.

When I started I learned simple folk guitar stuff from some old books my parents had. It was a good way to learn a bunch of chords and progressions.
But you can also just look up tabs for songs you like and learn that way. Just be sure to think critically about what you're playing otherwise you'll just be memorizing stuff.
And google Justin Sandercoe. Awesome free online lessons.

I dig the brick wall. My old apartment had a couple really nice red brick walls in it... bricks add a lot of character to a room.

Just got back from visiting my parents, haven't played any kind of videogame in over a week.
But I borrowed Final Fantasy Tactics from a friend back home... playing this has been a very long time coming....
Hopefully gonna get into it tonight after I get home from work.
My roommate bought FFXIII yesterday, as well.. which I should play before he moves out in May, but I want to finish IX first.. my life is full of Final Fantasy at the moment..

If you stopped and played Skies of Arcadia, Klyde, you'd be quite pleased. The game was incredibly well done.

Get Legends, btw, as it's got far more content to offer.

More content, but since it was squished to fit on one disc, the music quality isn't as good. Just as an FYI.

And let's not forget Pinta Quest.
Actually made it really easy for me to buy new stuff because I'd bring my VMU to school. By the time I got home I'd have tons of stuff to sell. Never did get that last Cham, though...

I'm going to a theme party tonight.
The theme is "pick your own theme."
So basically the theme is "Halloween."
I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna throw on my Hunter S. Thompson hat/shades/cigarette-holder from Halloween.

IIRC there are a few people from the capital region, NY that post here?
Well anyway there's a used video game store on Central Ave. called Mr. Deals that I finally checked out the other day.
It's a great store and I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
But what's funny is that they have a very good condition copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga that I asked them about.
Apparently some kid traded it in for a Wii-U, which strikes me as an absurd thing to do. They're asking $275 for it now.
Can't believe someone did that..

Reddit can be quite the cesspool of misogyny and homophobia at times, which is a shame because it can be really great at other times.

Yeah but I guess the same could be said of the entire world.

FF6 - My bro got it Christmas Day and didn't open any other gift beceause he ran downstairs to start it up.  I basically watched him play through all of it, I was...about 6 or 7 at the time, so when I played it, it was his file and to go to towns (I didn't like fighting!).

This is adorable.
But on a related note, I remember that first play-through of VII when I was really young, I'd get lost for significant chunks of time and just enjoy myself exploring the world and towns. That childlike naivete made the series that much better (but I guess it makes everything better, really). I don't like to think of myself as jaded, but...

I've never seen an episode of Breaking Bad. Not even, like, a scene. I hear about it all the fucking time, and I have Netflix so I have no real excuse not to watch it.
Been using said Netflix account to watch Firefly, which is another show that I put off watching forever for some reason. About 8 episodes in, it's really good and I like it a lot but I think it's a little overrated. Only because of how insanely highly rated it is among interweb people.
I will say the characters are great, especially Mal, Wash, Zoe, and Kaylee.
My favorite episode so far is the "Shindig" one, by far.
