To be honest Lard, I used to have a 80 gig player myself, but I much prefer having a smaller player. Trying to navigate through 120 gigs using a shitty interface is just way too overwhelming, not to mention depersonalised.

I'd also recommend a 2 gig Sansa, but if not, I'd seek out a Zen or another Creative player. In fact, the Creative inner ear headphones I have are outstanding, despite being half the price of Sony ones.

Finished Climatrol in Phantasy Star II, just grinding up Anna now as my new 4th PT member before doing the dams. ...That's right, the dams music is fucking great. I should start on that right now. :P

I was more upset about Nei dieing than I thought I would be. :( For a game with such primitive storytelling, the atmosphere is top notch.
3  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Sega announces Shining Force Feather for Nintendo DS on: July 20, 2009, 11:10:16 PM
Keep in mind Atlus published all three of the GBA games. Looking at some of the obscure shit that is being localised for the DS, the only reason I can imagine it not coming out would be Sega withholding anyone the license.

(Insert Shining Force rant that nobody hasn't seen a million times before here.) -_-

Quote from: SE
The following item has been added to the list of goods purchasable from linkshell distributor NPCs:
Pendant Compass

* The compass is an equippable item for characters level 20 and above which, when used, will display one's current positional coordinates within a given area.
* This coordinate information may be used with the upcoming "Player Event Support" service. Detailed information will be made available via a special site for the service in the near future.

This might be interesting, but it doesn't count if it need another patch to be usable. If all it does is save you from having to <pos>, I'm sure this is something Windower can handle.

Considering it comes with an extra USB cable for the PSP / PS3, 20 isn't that bad. You could sell it after you're done with it, but it's handy to keep around just in case. Tales of The Abyss comes to mind.

I'm sure there's someone out there that still thinks Last Remnant is coming.

If you're on a website called RPGFan and you want to play an RPG, this would suggest that you'd go out of your way to play it. I'm sure a few people did that with KOTOR and the Xbox.

I'd buy it just because the soundtrack is by Yuzo Koshiro, but there's a pretty cool game that comes with it too! :P

Bought Phantasy Star II for the billionth time off XBLA. Did my obligatory one hour of grinding, on my way now to conquer the first dungeon. Thank fuck I have the Genesis hint book so I don't have to be glued to the Internet for the maps.

While this has the potential to suck balls, I'm just glad there's even a sequel at all. That's more than what they ever did with Skies of Arcadia.

Plus fuck year, fake France in my VC!
10  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Worst. Ending. Ever. on: July 14, 2009, 01:20:10 AM
The two endings that comes to mind are KOTOR II and Fable II. Not necessarily because of the endings themselves, but because they ended so abruptly. Fable II pissed me off especially with the

waste of 10 minutes that was the fake childhood flashback sequence.

Actually, throw in Lost Odyssey too. After suffering through that, I would have appreciated a final boss that didn't take four rounds to finish and a cop-out ending.

I was hoping the game would've explored the immortals' original world and the relationship between the two worlds a bit more. That was the only thing that stopped it from being a completely generic RPG, after all.

Ikaruga is $5 this week on XBL. Hard game is hard.
12  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Brüno ... on: July 14, 2009, 12:48:28 AM
I'm going with Deg on this. Since Bruno was of course brought in for the American Ali G series, it's more attuned to American humour than either Ali G or Borat (at least originally). I didn't enjoy the Borat film as much the segments, so I have no reason to believe I would enjoy Bruno.

So where's my new Ali G series? Has Sacha Baron Cohen imploded his career in the British isles in the same way Hugh Laurie (and a certain MD from New Jersey he plays) has? :(
13  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: PSX vs PS2 rpg lineup on: July 10, 2009, 12:48:16 AM
Since Square didn't bother to release ANYTHING for the PSX in Europe apart from your usual FFs (lol but no tactics), PS2 wins by default. I had more RPGs on my Sega Saturn, for fuck's sake.

There were other JRPG folk who released their games in PAL regions. Yes, we did miss out on Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics (well...we have it now) and Xenogears, but we did get many other non-Square RPGs. There are other awesome RPGs out there.

The only RPGs I remember when I used to get the UK OPM were Vandal Hearts, Breath of Fire III, Wild Arms and unmemorable stuff like Azure Dreams...  Yeah, it turns out a handful of the so-called classics did come out eventually, a year after NA, in 2000, but are so hard to find that I only found out PAL Suikoden II and Star Ocean 2 existed fairly recently. The exception to this would be Grandia, Ubisoft did a good job of actually making copies of that. :P

But regardless, the European RPG player will have a decidedly different opinion of the PSX, and this discrepancy has been minimalised with the PS2.

How about some motherfucking GBA games. A few suggestions from me:

-- Shining Force remake. Just because the Shining Force Advocacy Society (Losfer) isn't home. :P
-- The Fire Emblem games. Stories, like Suikoden, are more based around politics, but the gameplay is fucking epic.
-- Zelda: Minish Cap
-- Lunar Legend. No one likes this version for some reason, but if you haven't played any other version of The Silver Star, I think it's a pretty good intro.
-- Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga. Add Super Mario RPG for the SNES too.
-- Mega Man Battle Network, you only need to play the first one to get all you need from the series.
-- Sword of Mana, since you like Secret of Mana, enjoy your Final Fantasy Adventure remake.
-- Tales of Phantasia, port's not so great, but the story is pretty epic for a SNES game.

And if you can play the English translation somehow:

-- Mother 3

I don't get the bitching either, did everyone have the same problem with the Seventh Dragon sprites? Or is it because it's not Saga? :P I'm just glad Matrix is actually doing something new for a change, even though it will be the same regurgitated FF we've been getting since forever.

I wish there were more RPGs that were made with the DS in mind, as opposed to simply being on the DS.
