The following item has been added to the list of goods purchasable from linkshell distributor NPCs:
Pendant Compass

* The compass is an equippable item for characters level 20 and above which, when used, will display one's current positional coordinates within a given area.
* This coordinate information may be used with the upcoming "Player Event Support" service. Detailed information will be made available via a special site for the service in the near future.

This might be interesting, but it doesn't count if it need another patch to be usable. If all it does is save you from having to <pos>, I'm sure this is something Windower can handle.

Having fannied about as a PLD up to 20 as previously mentioned, I decided to go back to DRG. Since LOL no one invites DD, I've soloed it from 34 to 41 in about three days. Qufim was fucking great at first, Altepa is a bit arsey. I should go back to Beaucedine Glacier since everything should hopefully be DC now.

Watched the FMA movie with Losfer last night.

All I wanted to see was Al, but having to sit through:

Code:
LOL HITLER.

was asking a bit much.

Square's being sued (finally!)

Quote
A federal class action suit is in progress against Square Enix. Allegedly deceiving 100,000 customers by not being upfront about fees and penalties, Square Enix will now enter court.

Plaintiff Esther Leong of San Francisco stated that Square Enix lied about monthly fees for Final Fantasy XI. The case claims that Square Enix concealed its montly fees, penalties for late fees, interest, and restrictions, and several other payment fees that weren’t detailed during the signing up phase.

The class action suit is seeking damages of more than $5 million, ranging from unfair business practices to false advertising.

You can read the court filing here.

Charging late fees and interest for an MMO is fucking ridiculous. I'm a victim of this and wish I could join in that class action.

To think these assholes went from a F to a B grade when they joined the BBB.

And I don't want to know how much money they've scalped from subscribers that reactivate halfway through the month. I'd be more concerned about that rather than late fees and interest. Once you get to that point you probably should be better prioritising that $13.

I've been working on PLD for the last day and got it from 1 to 20.

But that's not important, I was looking for someone to rep me just now and spoke to a NIN who asked me if there were any white people in my PT. Cause he didn't want to play with white people.

...

I don't care if he was joking or not, what a wanker.

I'm trying to get the Heat weather condition for the Summoner quest, but it's a bitch to try to get it appear at the designated areas. I've tried Valkurm Dunes, Rolanberry Fields, and even Meriphataud Mountains, nothing. The only place I haven't gone to yet is the Altepa desert, which I read that it is more likely to appear over there, but it's a long trip. Probably going to end up doing that next. My Paladin is at level 28.

If you can do the supplies quest for Altepa at the same time, it's always handy to have that outpost warp available. A couple of levels and people will start inviting you there, anyways.

Back at the end of the year, I tried soloing my RDM AF1 at 53 and failed miserably. Went back last night and tried to kill Purpleflash Brukdok again, this time with the new RDM skill Composure. Wow, what a difference that made. Now I just need to wait until 12 noon today and I can pick up my Generic Red Mage booties.

Goddamn, this is one thing they need to fix in FFXIV. If you make it so people need to party, make it easier for them to hook up for chissake.

Personally I find Level Sync to be the best thing they ever added- it's not much easier to get a party than this. Really, you could just grab 2 friends you know and just FoV all the way to 75 if you really wanted to.

Yeah, level sync is pretty awesome, but whenever I duo, I always feel like I'm missing out on being in a full party. What I mean is that the communication tools available to players could be spruced up a bit. For instance, instead of having to shout constantly in Jeuno, you could just post onto an in-game advertisement board. If you're a duo / trio that would like to join a full party, they could be automatically matched with a group leader instead of individually seeking for god knows how long.

But, actually, the only pressing issue I have is that some of my Phantasy Star friends are on Phoenix. :P

I should probably get you into the linkshell I'm in.  Fair number of low level folks.  That and I have a level 26 WHM that needs leveling.  Level sync will let us party starting at level 10.

You guys are still on Leviathan, I'm assuming?

I wanna get back into this, but I'm 53... There's no point unless I can get a semi-static group going or find a relevant group of people that are still building up their characters.
