2. Avoid pirating Saturn games and just use actual, original game discs. Legal issues aside, they're going to work better with SSF.

Did I also mention I'm broke?

If anyone's interested there are two other disc-only copies on eBay for 60 with free S&H right now, which is a pretty good price for it.

See, even that is over budget for me.

Oh thank goodness. I always thought I was missing something REAL important for the Sega Saturn. I could never get the darn emulator to work and the asking price is WAY over my budget.

100 dollars? I could buy like, every Fire Emblem game I don't own that came out to the US.

Sweet! Thanks dungeon-crawler...Damn, I guess I need to go back to Gamestop and see if they still have the Ultimate Edition, the package that features all the dlc. I looked in the xbox marketplace and individually they are pricey. I appreciate the info. I was a bit intimidated by the instruction book...it seemed like a lot of menus and stuff to remember.

Don't worry about that. I played through Dragon Age: Origins when I was like...Thirteen. On the highest difficulty setting.  The game is pretty simple once you understand what's completely useless and how to pretty much break the game. There are like one or two different enemies that might give you trouble, but after you hit like level 20 the game is pretty much over. Don't know about Awakening though, never touched any of the DLC aside from that one side mission where you play as Darkspawn.

The game can be pretty fun though. Just don't expect anything groundbreaking.

Heeeere's what I've got so far!
1. Shadow Hearts: Covenant
2. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

Oh cool, you're on the PS2 RPG backlog too? I've been meaning to collect all the gems as I just got my model up and runnin.

I'm trying the SMT series and Xenosaga first, but it's a tie between Shadow Hearts and Wild Arms for what to play next.

Yeah that episode of Space Dandy was great. Caught it on Adult Swim the other day, it was the first episode I've seen of the show and it was just fantastic. It also fueled a bit of my nostalgia to watch a new episode on an actual channel. Didn't hurt that it was Toonami of all things. Brings me back.

Probably should watch the other episodes online, haven't found an Anime to watch since Samurai Champloo. Might be fun.

I got nothing. After like 20 backs in a row last year I'm cutting back.

Props to Subterranea though, can't say if they're gonna get the money in time but the concept alone sounds Gold Box glorious. But finally given the modern sheen we've been needing. Sadly I'm going to guess that people are gonna pass due to the graphics. Ah well.

Lot of stuff I've been missing it seems, like 4/5ths of them I want but never knew I wanted in the first place. Turn Based Rune Factory? Sold.
23  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: [Kickstarter] Celestian Tales: Old North (JRPG) on: March 08, 2014, 01:46:05 AM
Another day, another Kickstarter. Lucky for them that they almost met their goal, oh hey yeah I remember them. Good, I was hoping to see this idea get finalized.

It's pretty refreshing to see stretch goals that are pretty modest, just simple stuff like an expansion, better graphics and animations. At least I know they have a plan, unlike others which don't know what to do with half of the money.

Did I beat Persona 4 this year? No that was in December, damn it.

I wish I was better at Bravely Default. Taking forever to beat. 88 hours and still on Chapter 5? Must've left it on for too long.

Ys I and II on Nightmare.

It was SO not worth it. And yet, I did it anyway.
26  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dragon Age 3 on: March 06, 2014, 07:44:52 PM
Well that showed jack shit. Other than the pretty graphics, I guess.

The 30 minute preview, however, was helpful. Not a "most buy" or "insta-buy" for certain, but it does look better than Dragon Age 2. So hey, that's something at least.
27  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: One Of The Greatest RPGs Of All Time :Baldur's Gate! on: March 01, 2014, 09:34:54 PM
I don't really like Baldur's Gate 1 all that much. I don't hate it, I just don't like it all too much. Mind you, I played the original. No mods, just the latest patch, and that's it. So vanilla it hurts.

For starters, I didn't like the combat. It tried to blend real-time with turn-based and it just really didn't work. Most battles boiled down to pointing your fighters/rangers to the nearest dude, and have the casters shoot shiny stuff at the baddies every once and a while. The only time I applied strategy was the final boss, where I lead him into the middle away from everyone and shoved like 20 fireballs up his ass. It was hilarious, but pretty much the only good part in the game in terms of battling. The story wasn't that interesting either. Playing as a Paladin felt like a waste, since the most fun to be had in the game was definitely the magic battles. I'm glad that some of the kickstarter successors are choosing turn-based over the RTwP thing.

However, Minsc is awesome. And the sequel was badass. So there's that.
28  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Underrated Classic!: Gothic 1 on: February 22, 2014, 02:29:19 AM
I've been meaning to finish this game for the longest. It's right up there with Thief and Deus Ex in my Late 90's to Early 00's PC games that I need to get around to playing. I played up to understanding the controls though, so that's something.

I have tried playing Risen for a bit but the combat felt so stale. Though I think that's because the majority of what I did in Risen was try and kill these overpowered moth things in a cave that was obviously way over my skill/character level. I do remember a unique "leveling" system, an interesting story (VA sucked more than some JP VA's) and a pretty open world. Well, open enough.

Added. It's like an in-game way to cheat!
