I don't understand the Batman remark.  I guess I'm glad? Because it should? xD

I find most mainstream games this past generation to focus on a "cinematic" approach and pump all the money into presentation rather than gameplay; so it's nice to see a game with a good number of mechanics, places to explore, things to collect, and is a joy to play.  That's also the reason I enjoyed the new Tomb Raider much more than Uncharted.

Really enjoying Conception II at the moment.  Yeah it's a grind, but quite an addictive one.  Also the voice acting is the exactly the same quality as every other Atlus localization so I don't know what caused such a fuss.

Also started Batman Arkham Asylum and am really impressed.  It feels like an actual game.

Kyle is not the right person to listen to if you're remotely interested in JRPGs.  His staff page shows some of his favorite RPGs being Planescape, Mass Effect, and Fallout, which is fine, but it's obvious he wasn't going to enjoy this (or Bravely Default for that matter).

I think that is a bit harsh man. Those are some of my favourite games and I also love JRPGs. People have different tastes and it is as important to hear those that dislike the game as it is those who like it. I was surprised Kyle reviewed this but more so because I had never seen him review a modern dungeon crawler before. Thought all the dungeon crawlers went to Ashton, Tooker or Hussey.

I mean no disrespect to Kyle or RPGFan.  My point is that the review would be beneficial to more people if a fan of Etrian Odyssey reviewed it to see how it compared.  People with similar tastes as Kyle probably already know that Demon Gaze isn't for them or don't even know it exists.  As it stands, Kyle's review is practically useless to me.

In regards to the physical copy thing..
It's not feasible for XSeed to do one, TiTS 2 is a risky localization and PSP is dead at retail, the fact that they are even bothering to localize both the steam and PSP versions is already something to be thankful for.
While I agree that mass producing it would not be financially viable, they could always do a "whoever wants one gets one" limited physical copy like what Gaijinworks did with Class of Heroes 2.  It would probably rake in more sales too because of collectors and resellers.

Turns out this isn't a SE store exclusive anymore because Amazon has pre-orders up.  I haven't seen any other retailers have it though, so...not sure what's up with that, but at least it provides an alternative for those that don't want to gamble with Digital River (or are in Europe).

SQEX is just gonna keep being SQEX. If you wanna see what happened to SQ then look at Mistwalker.
This.  It's as if all the people begging SE for a traditional RPG and complaining about FFXIII have never heard of Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey.  The throwback games are there; people are just looking in the wrong places.

Maybe somebody can answer me this not actually condescending question that is going to sound condescending... why max out every asterisk? You can only have 2 job abilities at once and like 2-4 skills depending on how they cost. I maxed out like 5 useful asterisks and stopped and beat the game.

The Freelancer job gets stronger the more jobs you master, no? I dunno if it's actually noticeable/worth it, but its there.
Yes, each stat goes up 1% for each job mastered.

Doesn't weapon proficiency stay at a satisfactory "B" though?
(those "weapon mastery" skills feels like a waste of good space too)

As it is, the Freelancer is a mediocre job at best. If it had even one "A" ranked proficiency though, it would've been one of the best jobs in the game.

Pretty sure Freelancer-Performer is the best way to generate BP though.

SMT IV

The difficulty seems to have fallen a lot since the boss fight with
Code:
om nom nom Xi Wangmu in Ikebukuro

Hopefully it picks back up. I actually found it pretty challenging up to that point with the tutorial dungeon probably being the hardest.

Hate to break it to you, but it doesn't.  It's insanely easy after the beginning.  The last boss can be difficult depending on your path and experience with SMT, but the game doesn't go above normal difficulty from where you're at.

:(

That is kind of disappointing. Guess it is due to the new fusion system. Don't get me wrong, it removes a lot of the tedium present in previous games but it also allows you to create teams that can handle any situation pretty early on thanks to the inheritance system. Still, I am having a lot of fun with the game and don't expect that to stop.
Pretty much, you can make a broken party.  At that point the only thing stopping you is being ambushed, which feels very cheap and had me constantly saving just in case.  I still love the game though.

I saw someone else pointing out that it's similar to Samsung now:

How often do you guys look at logos? :P I have no criticism. It is what it is.
I don't care that much, but logos are incredibly important to companies.  It's all about branding, and some will pay thousands for a logo.

Not a fan of the new logo.  The old one was perfect.

I maxed them all to try out different job combos and experiment with unique abilities.  I think that's how I got the most enjoyment out of the job system.  It doesn't take that long if you grind with the arcanist/black mage combo where battles literally last two seconds.

They could also try releasing games like Type-0 overseas (maybe too late now, but people were clamoring for it at the time).
