I have a hard time accepting the risk of selling\buying on message boards, especially with expensive stuff like consoles. So, I slap that bastard on eBay to keep their policies and both my money and yours safe! Buy it! You know you want to.

Haven't posted here in a long, long time. Was curious to see if anyone was hitting up MDF this year. With Cathedral's last tour dates ever, Doom's reunion, as well as Exhorder, Neurosis, Corrosion of Conformity, Marduk, Voivod, and Coroner, this is by far the best American metal and punk festival I have ever seen. I remember a good portion of folks on here being into metal, assuming this still holds true.

I see the other thread now, so this one can be discarded, locked, or whatever.

Pentagram and Witchfinder General are good stuff. Hank III does a good Pentagram medley live.

I've always had a strong appreciation of all things Black Sabbath, and this extends to the genres Sabbath gave birth to. I know a ton of bands, but my collection in this sub-genre is mediocre at best. I'm thinking along the lines of bands like Acid Bath, Eyehategod, Electric Wizard, Cathedral, sHEAVY, Iron Monkey, Sleep, Mushroom River Band, Candlemass, Skepticism, Novembers Doom, etc. I'll listen to anything, so fire away.

Bloodbath - Treasonous

Easily the heaviest song off of The Fathomless Mastery. So glad Swan÷ and his vagina are gone from this band now.

So I've been re-reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.  I know for sure that he has another book, Lila: An Inquiry into Morals. What I'm curious about is finding more of his work and others like him. Philosophy is better interwoven into a storyline as opposed to presented in a fact-of-the-matter non-fiction style. Seems to breathe life into a genre so beaten down by egos. Anyway, that's what I'm looking for if anyone can help. And if you haven't read Zen..., it's an instant classic. Pick it up.

Kreator - Whatever this new song is called.

Thrashtastic. Los, you're gonna want the new album :P

Hordes of Chaos is a bad ass album. Friend of mine in the business sent me the promo a bit ago. The song "To The After Burn" is fucking great. The last song on the album, Demon Prince, is great too. Throwback to Flag of Hate, Pleasure to Kill stuff.

Now Playing: Unleashed - Your Children Will Burn

Emperor - angL.

Ihsahn seems almost flawless throughout the entire album. The collaboration with ┼kerfeldt couldn't be any better. Thoroughly enjoy the pieces very reminiscent of Anthems.

Unleashed - Hammer Battalion.

Sucker for old school Swedish death metal.

Some good mentions,
Enslaved - Vertebrae
Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery

Edit: How the hell could I forget Opeth - Watershed? Best release since My Arms, Your Hearse.

Man, when I ran into these guys back in 2003 on the Art of Noize II tour, Johan was a bag of laughs. I think we were equally as drunk 'cause we were both slurring English so awful, but when you're drunk, you understand drunk mumbling.

Anyway, a friend of mine actually bought a kit for brewing mead. Came with a huge glass jug with a small plastic tube with a one-way valve so air doesn't get in, only out. The only thing Amon Amarth seemed to forget is the end. After it's fermented to your desired alcohol content, you absolutely have to remove as much sediment as possible. Some people leave it all in, but from my experience, the more sediment the bigger of a headache in the morning. It's an interesting thing to do. So, so easy. Moonshine? Not so much.

Sons of Perdition - "Fall to Your Knees"

For some reason or another, I've been addicted to doomsday country. Sons of Perdition have a blend of downtrodden atmosphere with the lyrics and music, but they incorporate many others. I like to think of them as a Hank Williams Sr. that was way too into acid and Pink Floyd.

Bloodbath - "Blasting the Virginborn"

Kind of a removal of previous Bloodbath tendencies. The crushing Swedish death metal is still alive and well, but the band has taken a much faster and (personally) brutal attack. The mixture of Nystr÷m's eerie leads and Renkse's mastery of the death metal epic combine to create one blast-tastic face grinding death metal tune.

Thrash is an amazing beast.

DetÚnte - "Recognize No Authority". Cali thrash band nestled within the punk community more-so than the metal. Female vocals with all the workings of an 80s brand of thrash.

Municipal Waste - "Hazardous Mutation". Richmond, VA's finest offering since Gwar. Thrashing tone and technique, the Waste sit on the top of the contemporary thrash scene. Great mix of tremendous riffs, fast drums, and an over-all beer swelling thrash attack.

Tankard - "Beast of Bourbon". One of their newer releases, but also remains one of the premiere albums from these drunk German thrash masters. Everything that makes Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom great.. they're all here. German thrash owns.

Gama Bomb - "Citizen Brain". One of the new bands on the block, but seem to have mastered the art of thrashing. Palm mutes, the chug, everything is here in all its rhythmic glory.

Dark Angel - "Darkness Descends". The mid-80s saw the rise of many great thrash bands and Dark Angel is no different. This is where the highly acclaimed Gene Hogland got his start. Think pre-"Reign in Blood" Slayer with better drums.

Just to throw some names out that I'm confident you can't go wrong with. Testament, Sodom, DRI, Suicidal Tendencies, Sepultura (pre-Roots), Sarcˇfago.
13  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / WoW: Wrath of the Lich King: A New Expansion: ::: on: August 03, 2007, 06:00:03 PM
It seems way too soon for an expansion. We wait three years for an expansion, then an announcement comes for the second expansion only six months into Burning Crusade. Granted, I'm not bitching. More content is always good, but not the rapid release strategy that Everquest had in its later days.

If the expansion doesn't have a long period until the release, I'll never get to run Black Temple or Hyjal. It would end up being like running Molten Core now. Fucking pointless aside from some sort of nostalgia.

I'm a bit weary about the Death Knight. I'm really hoping it isn't a paladin with a shadow tree instead of a holy tree.
14  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / World of Warcraft OH MY GOD CURRENT EVENTS THREAD on: July 24, 2007, 12:28:05 PM
Went with my guild last night to Kara. Ended up waiting for the majority of the raid, but I got in to take down Netherspite and Prince. We one shotted Prince, fairly simple battle if you know what to do. Then we back tracked to Netherspite. We wiped our first try due to people new to fight. Second try, we had him on lockdown and at about 20% our main tank gets disconnected. Was too late for another shot. Oh well. Fresh Kara today, we'll blaze through to Curator today and hopefully finish by Thursday. /cheer

Looks like my already busted ass PvE spec is going to suck even more in Arena. But I'll be god damned if I don't end up one of the last survivors and on top of the DPS list in Kara.
