1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Project Brazil....An Upcoming Mod For Fallout: New Vegas on: May 10, 2016, 09:16:12 PM
This is a massive mod and the first installment is already out....the second installment is almost done

I made a video about it - www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yk6OCYB7Mmk

Project Brazil information

Project Brazil Nexus - http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45138/?

Project Brazil Moddb -

http://www.moddb.com/mods/falloutprojectbrazil

Project Brazil Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/FalloutProjectBrazil

From Moddb - " This is a near Total Conversion for Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout: Project Brazil adds an all new story around a new player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18. You'll discover a pitched battle between the Survivalist Raiders, the New California Republic, and The Super Mutants, which shapes the politics and events leading to the NCR's invasion of the Mojave. The story takes place in 2260 - many years before the "Courier" awakes in New Vegas, while the Enclave struggles to rise again on the West Coast."

Is the game really a grindfest ...  I don't mind grinding especially when the rewards are worth it
3  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Gothic II: Gold Edition Review Video) on: April 27, 2016, 05:00:27 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCI10cWhjgU

Gothic II came out in 2002... it is a very underrated cRPG that was overshadowed by Elder scrolls 3 Morrowind (came out months before Gothic II) ... I don't think it gets the credit it deserves...this is my review of a game that more people should know about .. I hope you enjoy  Gothic II Gold Edition is Gothic II and the add on Night Of The Raven

Some info for anyone that just wants to read (perfectly fine)

From Gothic II Wiki - "Like Gothic, Gothic II is set on the medieval styled isle Khorinis. Places include the City of Khorinis, the monastery of the fire mages, farms and woods. The mine valley of part I is also in the game, though it has changed. Of the old camp only the castle remains, the new camp has turned into a region of ice, and the swamp camp is made inaccessible by a fence built by the orcs. The final place visited in the game is Irdorath, a dungeon similar to the temple in Gothic.

Khorinis is a rich area with beautiful farms and dense forests. The main trade resource of Khorinis is the magic ore delivered from its prison colony to the King, who is fighting the orcs on the mainland. Most of the farms in Khorinis are owned by one landowner who has hired mercenaries to protect him and his farms from the militia when they try to collect taxes from the farms. This has caused Khorinis to be on the edge of a civil war. The city is low on food and relies on travelling merchants as the ships from the mainland have stopped coming because of the war.

People in Khorinis believe in three gods. Adanos, the god of water and balance. Innos, the god of fire and good. Beliar, the god of evil and darkness."

From Gothic II Night Of The Raven Wiki- " The expansion does not bring many significant changes to the gameplay. However, a major change can be seen in terms of difficulty, where the developer had rebalanced the whole game and made it harder, after this was requested by the community.

This increase in difficulty is done by adding new, more powerful animals, reducing the number of potions, and special plants found in the game, making attributes and items more expensive, and reducing the effect of permanent potions.[4]

An addition brought by the gameplay consists of a few new skills, and special items. The player now can learn the language of the ancient people which inhabited the newly introduced city of Jharkendar, giving him the possibility to read the so-called Stone Tablets. These can be found across the whole Khorinian island,[5] and have the property to increase the player's attributes.

Night of the Raven also introduces another skill, Acrobatics. Unlike in Gothic, this skill is learned when reaching 90 points of dexterity,[6] and cannot be learned otherwise. Acrobatics is not present in Gothic II."
4  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Fallout 1,2,Van Buren,Tactics and Brotherhood of Steel Concept Art on: November 02, 2015, 10:00:35 PM
Fallout 4 is almost here! I'm a big fan of the Fallout series (especially Fallout 1 and 2) so I put together a video showing off the concept art for Fallout 1,2 and Van Buren (Interplay's Fallout 3 which was canceled)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLhavWWp0pk

I also made one for Fallout Tactics and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icq8UrTlG1E

From Wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painkiller_(video_game)

"The game is inspired by such classic titles as Quake and Doom, with the emphasis on killing large numbers of monsters. The game is divided into five chapters, each about five levels long. The player's objective is to get through each level, from start to finish, by slaughtering hundreds of monsters. One of the game's most important aspects is its diversity. Each level presents a new location with various themes and art styles. The levels include castles, monasteries, an opera house, Venice, graveyards, and more. Monsters are also very different, with new ones almost every level. There are five "boss" levels where the player fights a boss. The game presents an option to complete a special task each level, which results in the player getting a "tarot card", a rare, hard-to-obtain bonus. Each equipped card provides different bonuses for a small amount of time, like powered-up weapons or slow motion."
6  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Fallout 2 Review on: July 20, 2014, 03:44:24 PM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_2

Fallout 2 is a role-playing open world video game developed by Black Isle Studios and published by Interplay in 1998. While featuring a considerably larger game world and a far more extensive storyline, the graphics and game mechanics from Fallout remain mostly unchanged.

The game's story takes place in 2241, 80 years after the events of Fallout. It tells the story of the original hero's descendant and his or her quest to save their primitive tribe from starvation by finding an ancient environmental restoration machine known as the Garden of Eden Creation Kit (GECK)

This is straight from their page on Moddb

Van Buren: A Fallout RPG Adventure is a remake of Interplay's canceled Fallout 3 by fans. You are the Prisoner in this - the biggest ever - Fallout game. Video (Q&A and Exclusive Screenshots) - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20ke8o_van-buren-a-fallout-adventure-q-a-and-information_tech

When I saw this I was very interested so I emailed the man behind the project, Hexer .. We exchanged emails and I eventually asked him a couple of questions (5 Questions) about the game and he was very easy to talk to and had no problem answering them, I decided to make a video about it ( the video includes screenshots, some already on the web and others that were given to me for the video) , I will post the link and the transcript of my questions and his answers.

Question 1 : What inspired you and your team to remake fallout van buren and bring it back from the dead?

Answer For Question 1: Today's CRPGs can't hold my attention the way older ones did. Because of that I was losing interest in CRPGs and became frustrated with the fact that I might never play a game like Fallout 1 or 2 again in my life. So there I was at the end of 2013 trying to find a solution. I asked myself a question - what CRPG do you want to play? One of the classics that has been around for decades? - No. Something new yet in the same vein as the classics? - Yes, Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 from Black Isle Studios.

Since I have lots of experience with modding Fallout 2 and doing large projects on my own (privately and on my daily job), I was perfectly comfortable with the idea to do it on my own. It would take a long time but I can do it. So I started and posted about it on RPGCodex's forum. Soon, other fans started contacting me expressing support and even joining me as writers, musicians, artists, etc.

Question 2: You are using original design documents, developer interviews and forum posts as information to bring the original vision to life as close as you possibly can, Is it enough for a full game or do you have to add original ideas of your own to flesh the game out?

Answer For Question 2: Yes, we have to rely on our own ideas and writing abilities in certain areas. We gathered plenty of information on the internet but that wasn't enough. The main plot was loosely defined while some locations and companions weren't written at all, merely mentioned. Changes to the game's famous SPECIAL system were also incomplete.

So we rolled up our sleeves and started filling those gaps in. We put some extra strain on ourselves by bringing back everything BIS cut from the game but we believe that's the only way to do it right.

Question 3: This is a personal question for you Hexer, What is your favorite fallout game and why?

Answer For Question 3: My favorite Fallout game is Fallout 1. I love the atmosphere, the story, the world, and the music.

Question 4: Is there anyone from the original F3 van buren development team working (or giving support ) to the project?

Answer For Question 4: Chris Avellone helped us with our questions related to the main plot and central characters. We plan on reaching out to other developers when we finish the Alpha version. If not with questions, then with information that Van Buren is happening after all and they'll get a chance to play it!

Question 5: I would have to ask of course! Is it possible to give me time frame of release, percentage of how much you have gotten done?

Answer For Question 5: We're currently assembling the Alpha version which is over 7 GB in size. Most of the music is done, the art is about 80% done, mapping is under way and we've finished about 40% of our maps, we are a little behind with dialogs lately although I'm certain our dozen writers won't disappoint. Changes to SPECIAL and scripting numerous quests are also under way although I will first need to finish the new art and mapping before working on it full time with our other programmer.
Voice acting and cinematics are last on our list of things to do so we only discussed them informatively although we secured voice actors for the Narrator and a few NPCs.

With all this in mind and considering our current pace of work, I don't see the game being released sooner than 2016. We want to make it right and certainly not rushed and disappointing!
8  Media / Single-Player RPGs / [Fallout 1] Retrospective on: May 30, 2014, 11:45:51 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sImV92PP4Q

I appreciate all the games in the Fallout franchise but like a good amount of fans i only knew of fallout from fallout 3 and new vegas but when i discovered they were other games before that I had to try it out, I did not know that I would embrace the first 2 fallout games and they became some of my favorite games of all time... This is a video on the first fallout game

no matter how i feel about fallout 3 ( I dont hate it ..just my least favorite fallout game... that does not mean I think it is bad though) , I have to thank Bethesda because if it was not for Fallout 3 I would never have discovered the fallout games that came before it.

Its rare for a sequel to surpass the one before it but max payne 2 does that..it improves upon the elements that made max payne a classic and sticks a successful formula.
If you have never played max payne 1 or 2 then i suggest you do.. cant comment on max payne 3

Developer of games such as fallout 3 elderscrolls series, over the past couple of years IMO they have been making mistakes, buggy games, bad game engines and reliance on patches have been their achilles heel, this a message of love and support and hopefully they get better and mot worse.
