Nah, that was just dumb.

Crazy Silent Hill fans sure are entertaining.

Looks like fun. I've generally enjoyed what I've seen from Ninja Theory, and I'm sure they're working hard to make a much faster, more fluid game than what they're used to. I'm not sure how it will stack up to DMC at it's best, but I'm sure they'll make a solid action game.

Did these people seem normal when you talked to them online?
20  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Internet Dating, A.K.A. How to Scar Yourself Forever on: August 12, 2011, 09:03:38 AM
No girl I've known online and actually met offline has been normal.

I avoid internet dating like it's genital gangrene.

Are we talking purely dating sites? Because the women I've met through forums and meetup.com have all been pretty normal. The dudes have been weirder, if anything.

If I was single, I'd probably try internet dating. I think I'd generally rather try bars and clubs though.

Check out these two rants from AlphaOmegaSin.  His channel is really good and is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels on YouTube.

Whiny guy is whiny.  Now with swearing.

Why on earth did I watch that?

Oh man, it's so bad.
22  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Should Random Battles Be Done Away With? on: July 11, 2011, 01:06:08 PM
These days I won't even bother playing an RPG if it has random battles. That doesn't mean I think they should go, because there are clearly people who still enjoy them. I'm just not one of them.
23  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Gaming and Anime Tattoos!! I know you got em.... on: July 07, 2011, 11:44:17 AM
The one tattoo I've got is based off a Mike Mignola drawing, which makes it fairly nerdy. I can't really think of a gaming tattoo I'd want at this stage.

If Amazon is the only source of data, then yeah, I'll take it with a considerable amount of salt. But man, even that is better than VG Chartz.

The exchange rate is not exactly a reason to not release anything. It just means profits from the US will be lower when put in yen. But, a profit is still a profit. Plus, if the games tank, losses will be smaller too. It works both ways.

That's assuming it would make a profit. I don't know much about that, since I've never published a videogame before.

There are several people here who have worked in this industry for years.

Oh, I didn't know there were people on the boards who'd worked on the publisher side of things. I'd love to hear their thoughts, especially if they have experience bringing over games from another region.

We may not know exactly what big bosses at NOA know (or think they know), but a lot of other stuff is in plain view. Nearly empty release schedule, available translations, free advertisement...

There's a few things in plain sight, but not nearly enough to be able to judge the NoA higher ups fairly.

what i want to know is how they came to the conclusion that they would be profitable in europe and not NA. it makes me think there is some external factor at play in america.

I honestly can't think of anything... Well the DS is dying fast because of R4 abuse, but that's unrelated. The PSP is doing (slightly) better in Europe than in de US, but that's unrelated too. Both regions would have a pretty empty releaseschedule without the Rainfall games. Are JRPG's doing better in Europe than US? Maybe, but I doubt the difference is huge enough to leave a release schedule nearly empty.

I've heard Dragon Quest 9 did quite well in Europe, and don't forget the exchange rate. Nintendo make a lot more money for each game they sell in Europe as opposed to the US.

The thing is, nobody knows the reason why. We can guess or call Nintendo dopey names, but we don't really know. I mean, it's fascinating watching people playing armchair publishers, but without knowing everything Nintendo know, I think it's silly to just assume the higher ups at NoA are idiots.

If Wii didn't have region lock I would have imported with no issues attached.I already speak English,Spanish and can read French so I would have imported Xenoblade from one of at least 3 EU countries.

Don't worry too much about that, it will be the same game in all three countries. The only difference is the cover, the game itself just will just have a language option at the start, just like all European/Australasian releases.

I love how modern society forgot or denies that a thousand years ago, it was perfectly normal to have sex with a 12 year old.

We do? I mean, I think we kind of know that life was pretty awful a thousand years ago, and I know I'm personally pretty glad that, at least in my (and presumably your) part of the world, things are significantly better.

Big ups to Eusis for helping to keep Sankaku away from my poor eyes. I've been to that site once. I don't want to go back.

Too Many Rappers is such a great song. The whole album is pretty great overall.

The gameplay footage kind of reminds me of Far Cry 2, just in the way the world is set up and the kind of things you have to do, although this looks like you'll be interacting with a lot more people. It looks interesting, but I'm not quite sure if it's something I'd want to play.
