He smokes now? Westerners giving him dirty habits, terrible.

A lot of Japanese people smoke.

Honestly... I'd just want to say this did not get a good impression amongst a number of people.

I am aware, but my statement still stands. Japanese people may love their smokes, but it is Westerners who made the character smoke. I'm not pushed either way really, it's not like i'm going to catch passive cyber cancer. More just an observation.

Who's to say it wasn't Capcom that made the decision? I have no idea how much involvement they had with the development of the game. Do you? I'm not going to start pointing fingers. There's something to be said for the fact that the first two games that come to my mind when I think about smoking in videogames (Vanquish and whichever Metal Gear Solid game I played last) are Japanese.

I haven't played Heavenly Sword, so I have no idea what to make of this. The initial shock of them putting a deep voiced lesbian punk rocker as the lead character took me back a few steps, but I'll still play it if it's fun. I thought the new character they made for DMC4 was kind of dull, so I was hoping they'd go in the opposite direction and make Dante even crazier and goofier (basically DMC3 x2). Instead it seems like they're upping the angst to unforeseen levels. I just hope that it's fun to play, because it looks like I'll be skipping through the cutscenes.

I intend on playing it at some point, but I'm going to hold off until I can see it around at a cheaper price.

I imagine making a 2D game with a massive cast like this would be crazy expensive in this day and age.

Ladyhawke - My Delirium

La Roux

I bought their album a few months back. I must have listened to it dozens of times. They're incredibly catchy.

Pff, gamers these days.

You're not making it sound like it's any easier. And you're actually sounding more holier than thou.

I don't think you're a bad guy, but I hate it when people have that kind of attitude towards other gamers.

I know this is an old post, but bugger it. I'm replying anyway.

I'm hearing it's "hard" like Megaman is hard, where it's mostly just slightly difficult and requires some pattern recognition, but since people can't put up with that they complain that it's too hard.

Gen, you do realise that not everyone who plays games is you, right?

I mean, surely you're open to the possibility that someone might find the Megaman games difficult. Because I don't think I'm that bad at platformers, but I've never been able to get far in the Megaman games I've played (Powered Up, 2 and 9). And that's not from a lack of effort, it takes a surprising number of failed attempts before I'll put the controller down and play something else.

I’m thinking of importing a US copy of Devil Summoner in the near future. I think it’s about time I started getting some of the PS2 games that never came out here. I haven’t been interested in Shin Megami Tensei game in a while, but this one sounds pretty cool.

Oh god, the ending to The Iron Giant always gets me.

Final Fantasy XII – I have a hard time deciding whether this of IX is my favourite Final Fantasy. Everything about it, from the battle system to the story, is just fantastic. I love that they finally removed transition screens, and I really liked the loot system. It’s easily one of the most beautiful games I’ve played too.

Final Fantasy IX – It’s flawed, no doubt. Battles are sloooow. I don’t really care for how the story goes towards the end. But I just love the overall package. The cast of characters is great. Zidane might be the best lead the series has seen, but even he is outclassed by Vivi. It’s a pretty game too, even for a PS1 title. I also really liked learning abilities off of equipment.

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter – I’ll never get the hate. Breath of Fire never did much for me as a series. DQ changed that. It might have my favourite battle system ever. I love that actions on the field determine how things will go in battle, so both parts require equal attention. Giving you a limited amount of dragon power was a great idea too. It feels almost like the logical progression from Vagrant Story, and it’s sad that we might never get another game like it.

The World Ends With You. I love customization. I spend, so much time in RPGs just dicking around, perfecting my characters. TWEWY was like heaven for me. But what’s so great about it, is that all of that stuff can be ignored. TWEWY is so flexible. You can save at any time, and change the difficulty and levels at any time. You can make it an easy experience just so you can see the story, or you can make it hard and discovery how complex the game can be. It’s got a fairly unique story too. Again, I don’t know if we’ll get many RPGs like it.

Phantasy Star IV. Love the battle system, the dungeon design, the story, everything. It’s jst a solid game all round.

God damn. I'm sexy.

And before you ask, I'm sorry. I'm already taken.

Oh and while we're at it, why not port the first two SMTs over to the DS and add an Etrian Odyssey-like mapping system.

Or just DS ports of the first two SMTs. I mean what the hell, Atlus actually listens to its fanbase. Why are we not bothering them about this? The games already had GBA ports. Just translate them and stick them on a DS cart. They're not even that text heavy.

Nich from Atlus USA actually talked about that on the latest Retronauts podcast. He basically said that they’d been looking to bring them over for a while, but they just can’t foresee it being financially viable.

I saw Pineapple Express a few hours ago.

I thought it was hilarious. I was almost in tears during the last half hour or so.

Your face is emo.

Seriously though, I’m getting tired of people using that word.
