Will buy after I get paid. I very rarely purchase games at or around launch.  So here's hoping there's no buyers remorse on down the line.

Dragon Age Inquisition - Started a week or so ago. Currently character level 7, playing as a dual-wielding female elf.
Just recruited Sera, who promptly replaced Varric, due to me feeling limited by his use of only one weapon. I'm still mainly working on quests in the Hinterlands, although I've briefly explored a few other locations at this point.

BoF IV - Tried the chasing of the hideous apteryx a few more times, and ended up only frustrated. Haven't played the game in a few weeks now, which is a shame, because I was enjoying it otherwise. ...What a stupid, stupid thing to put in a game.

don't give up on BoF IV. It's a gem.

1) Doom and Destiny -  stop #1 on my "Xbox360 Retirement Tour" was stupid and rote and most of the jokes were offensive.  Oh well. On to the next one.

2) Shank - Another XBLA game I blew right through.  I'm trying to retire my 360 so that means slogging through shitty, overly violent platformers like this one before I finally play Dark Souls.

3) Guardian Heroes - XBLA
4) Half Life 2 - XBLA
5) Breath of Death VII - XBLA
6) Cthulhu Saves the World - XBLA
7) Sequence - XBLA
8) Panzer Dragoon Orta - Xbox
9) Castlevania Chronicles - Vita

10) Tales of Vesperia - 360 - 57 hours. Great game, 2nd best tales after Eternia. But the real story is that I finally get to chuck my old and busted Xbox 360.

Get a line tracer and some white tape, then remember that someday, someone else will have to trace those same wires and try to make your taped marks readable.
Forget "someone else", I need to tag everything so that an older, slightly stupider version of myself can figure it out.

Haps:

While I was out gardening, someone left a bag hanging on the front doorknob containing a small plastic bottle, and a form for a free water test.  From the small print, the test was being conducted by a private company selling water purification equipment, and not affiliated with the city.  I was supposed to put the bag back on the knob for them to pick up (leaving the "kit" unused if I didn't want to participate).

In a rural area it might be different, but this is the middle of a metropolitan area, with excellent (and extensively monitored) water quality.  There just isn't any honest justification for this type of push marketing.

So, I filled the bottle halfway with brine from Bick's Hot Mix, filled it the rest of the way with 5% acetic acid, and then added a spoonful of sugar, some salt, and a pinch of skim milk powder (for texture).  Pickle juice was my first choice, but the greenish tint was too obvious.

They wanted water from the kitchen sink tap, so I carefully labelled the bottle with "SINK WATER", using a black marker, so that there could be no mix-up, and also so that they could admire my lettering skills.

On the form, I put a local address, using the number of a house that doesn't exist due to an accident of geometry, and the phone number of a nice gentleman who will tell you the time at the tone.  I tried to fill out the rest of the form in a manner consistent with someone who has spicy pickle brine on tap.

I dearly hope that this isn't a full-blown scam, and that they actually test the sample, and that confusion ensues.  But if nothing else, my labelling might prevent them from reusing the bottle on some poor sucker.

whatever you're doing here, you're doing it right

so many to add...

I hadn't updated this in a while.  But I'm nearly to the final dungeon in Tales of Vesperia which means I'm finally and mercifully almost done with my xbox360 farewell tour.  I can't wait to get rid of that loud hunk of junk.

I prefer the forums too.  Much more organized.  I can find specific things that were said 10 years ago with relative ease and that's just not possible with Discord.

But, if that's the way the wind is blowing, then I really have no other choice.  Where else am I going to shout about pixels with strangers?

here is the discworld reading guide.  You can basically pick any strand on there (would recommend nights watch) and they are more or less self contained.

I think it's REALLY REALLY difficult to build an effective and coherent fantasy world in 1 novel (unless its 1100 pages long) there is just too much foundation that needs to be laid and history that often needs to be fleshed out in order to adequately tell a story set in a fantasy universe.  Hell, Tolkien was the master and even he needed to write the 350 page Silmarillion in order to make sense of Middle Earth.

^ thanks Jimmy. That's exactly what I was going to recommend.  It has always confused me why people queue up to pay for material when they can just as easily get it for free.
