Whole back wheel is bent and fucked up, frame may be damaged. The asshole was pulling out of a Walgreens and I had space to pass him since LEGALLY he's supposed to stop before he pulls out (I was on the curb, I know, not supposed to be). As I get half past him, he starts moving again and before I have time to move he runs into me, taking out the wheel and knocking my bike out from under me. Scratches on my right leg from the bike getting knocked around, and my knee feels wobbly but that could be from nerves and adrenaline, nothing hurts though.

As I'm cursing about getting hit, he gets out of his car and gives me shit for being on the sidewalk. I told him get away from me before I put his head through his windshield. His wife kept asking if I was ok and I said I'm fucking furious, your husband needs to get away from before I hurt him. He then drives off, never asking if I'm ok or about the damage he inflicted on me or my bike.

I'm so over today...

^ infuriating... what a knob

pro tip: when you are approaching a vehicle like that, looking directly at the driver's head seems to help them notice you.  I think there is something in our DNA where we just seem to know when someone is looking at us, so 99% of the time staring hole through a drivers noggin is enough for them to make eye contact with you (and thus acknowledge and react to your presence).  It's really unfortunate that idiots behind the wheel force cyclists to have to be careful enough to make sure everyone else is paying attention to you.

I hate hearing stories of cyclists getting hit. It's FAR too common unfortunately. Really really really glad you're alright D.

Pretty sure Rucks was just starting it as a joke, as being "basic" is literally just being stereotypically white and boring....I honestly giggled...

Then again, this is the same guy who actually used the word cisgender as an arguementative phrase against me... so there's that.

Also, coffee sucks.

The basic thing WAS a joke...

But everything else wasn't about coffee, it was about a whole bunch of other issues that he and I had argued about over the last few years (that there is no point getting into now) and gross pumpkin coffee was just the straw that broke the camels back.

Admittedly, the cisgender thing was me being too preachy.  It's not really my place to use that term (in the manner in which I was trying to use it) anyhow.

The issue is that it's gross and that it's EVERYWHERE. Like Taco Bell.

But this is a dog vs cats issue so Imma leave it alone before natros gets "ALL CAPS" about it and even more indignant than usual.

I at least own my indignation, Rucks/glass/Josh/whatever. You should own your condescending self-righteousness, or are you too busy feeling (comically unjustified) white guilt and making signs boycotting chain stores?

JFC.  Grow up you child.  You're smart enough to know of all the awful things out there that you support/patronize, yet you're too lazy to do anything about it. This goes way beyond pumpkin spice. It's every aspect. It's easier to just mock those of us that actually make an effort than it is to actually try.  America is going to choke on its complacency because of people like you.

@Rucks , you totally rock the counterculture lifestyle. You're so alternative, bro. Are you sure you don't live in Portland?
Seriously, I'm not going to deny myself something I truly enjoy, just because it carries the stigma of being over-popular with trendy sheeple. I'm not about to go buy pumpkin spice Pop Tarts, or a t-shirt proclaiming my love for it, or anything. However, those spices do work very well in coffee. For the record, I don't mess with cheap coffee.

If I was in Portland, where everyone is whatever is it that you think that I am, then I wouldn't be "counter culture" would I?  I'd be just like everyone else.

Especially now that pumpkin spice coffees (read: the shit) are in season.

A) You're a pair of Ugg boots away from being basic.
B) fake pumpkin flavored coffee is the grossest misappropriation of taste this side of cherry wheat beer.
C) Aeropress is the best way to make coffee bar none.

been sick. watching the first season of Pushing Daisies. Along with Dead Like Me, Bryan Fuller has made two of the most bizarre and visually impressive tv shows this side of a wes anderson script.

Shame they were both cancelled after their second season.

Wedding was awesome. We had it in our backyard.  Which seemed like a great idea until someone clogged both of our toilets and it turned into a literal shit show.

Better a brown wedding than a red wedding ;)
