I mean, you could just increase the ratio of grounds to water...

That's how I was, @Tomara
I hated coffee but loooooved coffee-flavored things.  And then I tried frozen coffee, which is essentially just a coffee-flavored thing.  Then iced coffee.... then just normal hot coffee.  That was the progression and now I just want to taste coffee with only a little sweetness.

As different as Rucksy, Frosty, and I are, we have the important things in common: coffee and RPGs.

Ha ha, Frosty, let's not start that again! :P

And yeah, I'm with you, coffee on a quiet, chilly morning is one of the best things ever.  Especially with a croissant and video games.  I, too, went until about 30 without liking coffee.  The story of how I got into it is long and, at times, kind of funny (I think), but the short version is that I was working a lot and doing some volunteer work, and I noticed on volunteer days that I would get insanely sleepy  at 4pm, like clockwork.  So I started getting frozen coffees for a pick-me-up and it all spiraled from there to where now I drink coffee almost daily.

Mustard is great in coffee, D, you should try it

There's no way you're being serious... That sounds like a terrible waste of perfectly good coffee.

You're correct, I was just messing with D.  He loathes coffee.  And then Dincrest ruined it by one-upping my attempt at being gross.  No way in the world would I ever waste coffee, coffee is glorious.

Also, that really sucks about missing Totoro. :(

I'd say "no", but I'd also say that about VC1.  People look back on VC1 and remember Alicia-rushing the Skirmishes in 2 minutes, but they forget what those missions were like their first time through when they didn't already know where everything was and where are all the shortcuts and tricks were.  And they also forget plenty of other Story missions where Alicia-rusing was impossible.  VC1's Chapter 7 (iirc, with the Batomys) was legendary for its difficulty and the number of players who get game overs there on their first attempts.

VC4 offers plenty of danger and tension, even as early as Chapter 4, which has 3 distinct missions in it.  Although my ranks for my first attempts at all 3 went "B" -> "A" -> "A", I never felt like it was easy at any point.  I always felt like I was on the verge of losing soldiers at any moment.

One time I was sure I had failed since I left an ace Lancer alive with literally 1 HP and had my radiator exposed, but I guess his low HP changed his AI to "stupid mode" and instead of cheap-shotting my tank he tried to run away and died.
But that's the only time I have noticed the AI be flat out stupid.

Started Valkyria Chronicles 4 properly.  A few hours in and I'd say it's basically the most perfect sequel to VC1 that I could have ever hoped for.  New class (and really creative implementation of such), excellent maps, bigger missions, fun characters and a lot more story to go with them!  Basically, everything we all wanted from VC1 sequel!

The only real weakness of the game, at all, is the UI, which instead of being a smoother, quicker version of VC1's is somehow clunkier and worse with 10 more years of UI design to benefit it.

Ignore Heemsbergen when he says the score is "forgettable", he's insane.  The OST here is exactly as good, if not better, than VC1's excellent OST.

I played on Normal and found some TMs that were below my level that could one-shot me, so beware.

Really cannot get enough of the art direction in this game!  The little details in the design make it come to life:

Warm and inviting interiors, too:

Once you get to Tainted Monsters and the ability to explore the world freely you're going to really feel the "hard" in Hard Mode. :D

I think Ranadiel's much more experienced than I am with JRPGs so I have assume that his criticisms have real merit.  However, hating on the town design is pure insanity.  The towns in this game are about as "generic" as pasta in Italy; sure it's what you expect, but it's flipping amazing and each bite is a sensation.  The attention to detail in the art direction is superlative and really pulls the player in.  Or at least it does me.

Wow.  Cool, yeah, I'll definitely fast track it then, in that case.

Sorry @Rucks , but I do believe I mentioned that it bored me to death.  However, that was after giving it like.... 2 hours?  Maybe slightly less.

I still want to play it again now that my attention span has evened out in my old age.  But I'm not sure what the best way to do that is.
