Do sprints. Sprints build up your cardiovascular endurance much more effectively than jogging, and you don't have to wear your joints out sprinting. Last year I was running a few miles everyday, but my right knee started feeling painful after all of that running. I had never been a jogger previously and I know why, because it isn't worth it.

In SMT Devil Survivor 2, I was so close to beating Mizar (just needed to destroy the very last tentacle), but got raped all of a sudden at the end. I had little trouble for the first 2/3 of the battle, but for some reason, I lost. So I've been spending some time level grinding the MC so that I can keep fusing my demons to get stronger ones.

I have doubts Xillia 2 will come here. Namco Bandai are just dicks like that. It'll probably be 2014 or 15 before they're done dicking around with ToX2. By then, they'll say something such as "Yeah, everyone moved to the PS4. Fuck you guys, you know, like we usually do."
That's why I import all of my Tales games, just to make sure I actually get to play them.

My JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test, a standardized test by the Japanese government) certification arrived today. Now I have an official piece of paper that says I know Japanese. I took the N3 test, which is just intermediate level but it was my first time taking it and I wanted something I was confident I would pass. Planning on taking N2 this year (test is only offered once a year...).
Isn't the N2 the one you need for employment in Japan?

Thanks for the replies. Like Dice said, I want to avoid raising duds and prefer to know which familiars to go after. I do plan on experimenting a bit since I really do enjoy the game, but I usually only have an hour or so to play during the weekdays, so I don't want to waste my time with fucking shitty familiars.

I have a question for you guys who are much further than I am. When it comes to metamorphosis, is it it better to evolve them right away or to continue leveling them up in an inferior stage? I'm only 7-8 hours in and have only evolved the Mite familiar because the game basically had me do it.

I'm on Day 6 in SMT Devil Survivor 2. I had a character end up dying. I'm not a perfectionist when it comes to games, so I'm not too worried about it. I did try to beat the boss and was just about there, but I got raped at the end because I was underleveled/didn't have strong enough demons.
Been playing Ni no Kuni. I'm at the place where you have to do those sage trials. The test of friendship is hard for me since I'm not used to using the right analog stick at all, so Esther keeps falling off the ledge. It'll just take some practice to get used to controlling her in that part.
Ahhhhhh! That friendship test didn't take me long but it sure did piss me off..... Just take your time and move them one at a time and it is much easier.... I was (at first) trying to move them both simultaneously and Esther kept falling on me too.... I believe there is only one brief instance you actually NEED to manipulate them both at once (at the start of the 3rd set of paths if I am not mistaken) I tried it again the next day and got it on the first try. I did what you said: just focus on moving one character at a time as long as the game permitted me to do so. Once I figured out moving both of them at the same time was just about impossible for me, I just tried moving one character at a time.

I don't know if it's because I haven't played a true JRPG in a long time or not, but the 5 or so hours I've put into this game so far seems to be the funnest 5 hours I've put into a JRPG, ever. I was bound to like it anyway simply because Studio Ghibli was doing the art/animation, but wow... the beautiful art and graphics aside, the game excels in every area. The familiar apsect scared me, but it's not really like Pokemon at all. Having a modern word to go to is nice (and rare). The ways they utitlize magic outside fo comabt is awesome, as is the ability to not only feed and strengthem your familiars but to arm them with weapnms and armor as well. About as perfect game as I can think of. Pretty deep too... 5 hours in and I still don't really know how to use items or heal while in battle... I guess you have to switch back to Oliver to do these things?
Switch to Oliver, and scroll over to Provisions. You can also go to Spells and cast healing touch.

I'll have to second the notion that this game reminds me of DQ8. I loved DQ8, so I should love this game. I've only put three hours in, but this game really does remind me of why I fell in love with RPGs when I was younger. It does seem to require grinding, but thankfully there are enough side quests to do in the game that make the grind more fun.

I always have to grind in Megaten games, but it's not bad compared to other games. I usually know what strategy to use to defeat a boss, but it's no help when your characters are as weak as shit and can't take any hits or do very little damage despite exploiting weaknesses and using buffs/debuffs.

The last book I finished was The Cassandra Project. It was interesting in concept, but the story didn't capture me. Anyway, it was still a good way to spend two hours. Currently reading Lord of Mountains right now. It's alright, it just took too long for anything to really happen in the book.
In Korean, I'm reading 미실 (Mishil). It's about a woman from the Silla Kingdom (back when Korea was divided into three countries) trying to become the queen. She was my favorite character in Queen Seon Deok, so I wanted to read a book where she was the main character.
