I really enjoyed Mushishi when I watched it, but I don't know if that's nostalgia speaking or if it really was that good.

Played the shit out of Tales of Xillia today, and defeated the boss at the Felgana Mines. I'm started to get more used to Xillia's battle system after having played Graces F a lot.

@Elegance I do plan on going for the CPA. On almost every financial analyst position I applied for, it was basically this format:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred: CPA, MBA, or Master's Degree (in something like Statistics, Applied Mathematics, etc.); experience in some database (Hyperion, Oracle, SAS, etc.); 2-3 or 3-5 years of work experience; can outcook Martha Stewart; have more yachts than Bill Gates; etc. etc.

I sometimes do wish I had done something with math as it was my best subject in high school, but I just hated being pressured to be the best at math all the time, so I wanted to do something that didn't require a lot of math. However, there's a much higher chance of obtaining a job in accounting compared to many other business degrees, so that's why I'm choosing to do it. The advisors at the college of business at my university tried to sell me on an MBA, but I politely told them no. I honestly don't see the point in getting an MBA when I'm just 23 and have no relevant work experience. Plus, if an undergraduate degree didn't help me get a job, I don't see how taking the same classes at the graduate level would help me any.

I was half thinking about just going overseas to teach English for a couple of years and then start working as a translator since I already do translations, but it would take me so much longer to reach a native-like level and be able to translate much better than I can right not as opposed to just getting another degree.

Speaking of liberal arts degrees, it seems like their best option is law school...despite there being more than lawyers than the market needs right now, leaving people with an extra $250,000 in debt with no way to pay it off.

Right now, I'm trying to get through some hoops in registering for classes. I graduated in December with a bachelors degree in Finance, so there are some dumb rules that I have to get past before I can register for classes again. I'm going back for for an accounting degree, and an advisor told me to get an MAS (Masters of Science in Accountancy) since the school isn't allowed to award me a bachelors in accounting because of dumb rules. However, I already had those intentions anyway.

I wasn't able to obtain an internship for the type of finance positions I wanted, mainly because during my junior year of university, I was preoccupied with trying to enter the military and trying to become an officer (through Officer Training School), but when I found out the low odds of being selected, I was planning to go enlisted and then try to become an officer. However, I later learned that I most likely have gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance (I had several tests for acid reflux disease, but they all came back negative, so my doctor is pretty positive in my condition), so I'll never be able to enter any military branch because I can't eat anything made with gluten without getting a bad case of acid reflux.

Then after I graduated, the only places willing to give me interviews were for financial services positions, which involve selling insurance, financial advising, and investments. I wanted to be a financial analyst instead because I enjoyed my corporate finance and investment courses more, but hey, in this economy, I thought to go with what's available and work hard, hoping to jump fields later if the opportunity arose. Alas, I had to take personality tests and as expected, I don't have the right personality for a salesman (as financial services jobs are essentially sales jobs).

So, an accounting degree should help me because it would help me get a financial analyst position (because contrary to the title, it actually is another accounting job), plus other types of accounting positions, so there's that.

And this is just a few months after bragging that I'll never have to take another stupid test again in school.

The reviews I read say the game is fun despite being very short (10 hours) and being another buggy Obsidian game. I'll most likely wait for a price drop.

I hit my first snag in Xillia. The boss in Bermia Gorge annihilated my party because of those damn status effects. I did have Jude and Elize linked so that I could heal everyone and remove remove status effects for the whole party, but it looks like I need to adjust the skills for some of the characters before trying it again. So far this game feels fairly easy, considering how long I took off from playing games, but I guess I have played enough Tales games in the past.

Tales of Xillia - I'm at the Sapstrath Seahaven, roughly 4-5 hours in. I have to say Graces F has ruined every other Tales game for me, because while I am enjoying the battle system in Xillia...it's still not Graces F's battle system.

For a character that fights with his fists, Jude is pretty good and I'm glad that he can heal without wasting a lot of TP, but I had more fun playing with Legendia's Senel.

I'm downloading Tales of Xillia through the PS Store for $20. I played the Japanese version back in 2011, but got stuck because I couldn't understand enough to proceed. I never really had that problem with Graces F, because I have 30 hours invested in the JP version of Graces F. Now with the English version, I can proceed with a lot less dicking around.

Mesh, didn't you major in Russian or something like that?

My interest in languages was too strong to the point where I was studying Korean, Japanese and Chinese at the same time...so I had to just back off of my two weakest languages and just stick to Korean for now so that I didn't burn out. Now I don't feel like learning Korean is a major burden anymore and have more time for other hobbies again.

Wow, I didn't know other people here used Anki. I mainly use it to study Korean grammar points, as I dislike using Anki for vocab. I may use Anki just to maintain my knowledge in Japanese and Mandarin even though I'm not actively studying either language.

Yeah, the Xbone is pretty useless as far as being an RPG machine goes, because any RPGs it will get will also be available for PC, and what few exclusive RPGs it will get probably won't warrant a purchase of the system unless you want exclusives from other genres.

Been playing some of my PS2 backlog on my fat PS3 before it kicks the bucket, because I'm sure I'll have to buy some of these through the PS store if I want to play them in the future. I'll have to do that with some PSP games eventually since my PSP died last year. The fans are getting real loud, so I've been trying to clean the PS3 as much as possible and putting it on it's side so that it gets better ventilation, but I know this is only extending its life, not fixing the actual problem. Thankfully PS3 slims are much more affordable now. I'm also waiting for a few PS3 games to become cheaper so that I can buy those too, such as the English versions of Tales of Graces F, Xillia and Xillia 2 when it comes out. My Japanese comprehension has deteriorated in the past couple of years, so it's really hard for me to make any progress in the Japanese games that I own.

The main game I have been playing is Digital Devil Saga. I'm at Coordinate 136 right now and I just got there, so I definitely plan to do a little grinding so as to master some mantras now. I also need to even Serph's stats out a little bit. Most FAQs are saying they should be even, but I've poured everything into Magic and a few points into vitality. I guess my playthrough of Devil Survivor/DS2 has influenced the extremely imbalanced stat distribution.

I'm also going through a bit of my GBA and DS backlog, trying to clear some games before I eventually get a 3DS and Vita (I doubt the 3DS will get any cheaper, and I'm not buying that ugly piece of shit called the 2DS), so it's just about saving up some money. Luckily I'll have plenty of games to choose from since I took about a 5 year break from heavy gaming (just did some here and there, like playing Persona 4 and a bit of Tales of Graces F back in 2010/2011.)

Since there isn't an Olympics thread, I just want to say that I'm livid that Kim Yuna got robbed.

I'm definitely buying this day one. I have been waiting for this game for what seems like forever now.

I liked LinkedIn. I don't use it a lot, but I made an account last year because it is helpful in trying to find a job. Depending on which industry you're in/trying to go in, LinkedIn will have a different use. I was a finance major in university, and almost everyone in the business school had a LinkedIn profile.
