16  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Is brand loyalty "worth it?" on: July 24, 2015, 12:41:29 PM
I am loyal to Samsung for TVs. I have never had an issue with my Samsungs.

Gamewise-I have a bit of brand loyalty to the Disgaea series. Even when it hasn't been all that good or innovative I have bought them.

Watched It Follows-I thought it was so bad I found myself wondering-How could anyone enjoy this movie and think it is in anyway scary? I can understand how most movies can cater to different tastes, but nothing about this struck me as scary. For anyone. The worst part for me was the music. A lot of it sounded like nails on a chalkboard. The acting was terrible. The pacing was bad. The STD creature was at no point scary. It was just not what I expected.

Watching all of Supernatural again. My girlfriend hadn't seen most of it. Good stuff.

So I am not sure where to put this, but since I have decided for this to be more than me just looking for players General seemed a good spot.

First-I am looking for players for an online game of D&D, Pathfinder, or some form of D20 good times. I want to use Roll20.net because it seems to be the most versatile, yet easiest interface to use. If you are interested PM me and we can discuss stuff.

Second-I want to hear about peoples experiences doing tabletop gaming. Whether it's good, bad or ugly, I want to hear your stories.

I used to play a lot of D&D. I played with my brother, who I do not get along with all that well at the time, and a few of his friends, who through the game have become my friends at least moderately. One of these friends, Jon, is DMing. I am playing a halfling rogue that likes to play pranks on people. One day I ended up playing a practical joke on the fighter, paladin, and wizard where I tied their legs together with a spider silk rope while they slept. I managed a nat 20 on the stealth check so they had no idea I did it. They all did terribly on the perception check and didn't even realize it...until the paladin tried to get up and ended up falling, pulling the wizard from his bed, and breaking the fighters ankle when it got yanked and smashed against the bedpost (rolling a 1 sucks for him). The fighter was my brother and he got all sorts of pissed outside of the game and punched me. The DM was annoyed by his meta reaction but continued to play.

A week goes by and my brother just will not let it go. In game or out. He is being a real ass. So the DM had a fiery mountain fall and crush my brothers fighter. He was no longer pissed at me and it took a long while for him to play in another game.

I like exalted. I usually allow stunting in my D&D games.

Oh, also don't let the rules bog you down. I know that 5e has a lot of flexibility, but consider that if something doesn't make sense, or if you feel the need to house rules something, make sure to explain it appropriately and that it isn't just for the benefit of the DM.

To hijack this a bit...if anyone wants to do an online game I would be down ^_^

Woo. This is a big and complex question. It really depends on the style of play your players are looking for. I run games that a bit more heavy on the role play. I guess the best piece of advice I ever got was have fun.  I know it sounds trite and a bit simplistic but really that is the most important thing. As the DM don't let one player ruin the game. Don't let them overcoming an obstacle too easy get you down, just as you don't want to make it impossible for then to complete the campaign. Put yourself in the shoes of the player and ask "would this be fun".

Constantine- I don't think it really got a fair shake. It wasn't the best show, but they could have done a lot with it if they had some better actors.

Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone. These kids love their Funko. It's the new "get in my van I have candy". Now if only I could find someone to help me out. I have gotten nothing.

Saw Jurassic World. It was good. I enjoyed it for what it was. That being said-I really wish most of the characters were eaten by...anything. Christ Pratt, Jake Johnson, and the kids mom were the only actors that seemed to enjoy being on screen. I don't know if it's the way the other characters were written, or the way they were played, but overall, not awesome. If it weren't for Pratt I don't think the movie would be doing even close to as well as it is.

Asking everyone I know that may go to SDCC to pick up a Funko for me. I didn't realize how tough it would be to get someone to grab it for me.
29  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Someone going to SDCC-HELP! on: June 29, 2015, 08:32:23 PM
I need the help of someone going to San Diego Comic Con. There is a Funko collectible that is going to be exclusive to the show at first and then most likely hard to find after. It is the Unmasked Flash from the TV show. My gfs son collects these Dunks and this one he wants really badly. I am hoping if you are going I can pay for it and shipping to have it sent to me so I can give it to him as a gift. If you can help the  PM me.

The miniature XBox 360 controller has been the greatest PC controller I've ever had.

I'm with ya on that one as well. While on the subject of controllers, though on a different note entirely, anyone remember this epic fail from back in the day??

I had that and I loved it! I could drink and eat without putting down my controller!
