1276  The Rest / General Discussions / Chocolate Chip or Oreo on: March 28, 2006, 11:39:37 AM
Oreos are too sweet for me. They're sickeningly sweet.

Chocolate Chip Cookies (and milk, please) for me. They're usually not as sugary or artificial...at least the home-made ones aren't. Most of the time, I prefer tea biscuits to cookies though.

EDIT: Just remembered...

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies> Tea Biscuits > Chocolate Chip Cookies.

CastNuri. It's not my real name or anything but I've been called Nuri for forever. Currently 16 years young, will be turning 17 in June. I'm attending an all-girls High School right now...2006 is my last year.

I live in the capital city of Malaysia, that is Kuala Lumpur. With me are my overly benevolent parents and four siblings who I couldn't love any more than I already do. I'm not inclined to posting my picture right now (in other words, too lazy) although my LJ buddies have seen it before. Curly hair, olive skin and four-eyes. It's not unusual to mistake me for a boy because I tend to dress in oversized clothes; my religion and personal modesty refrain me from revealing attires.

Hobbies are plentiful. I enjoy playing RPGs, reading, writing stories and poetry, surfing the web, swimming, debating, comics/manga, anime and instrumental music. After I graduate I plan to sit for my 'A' Levels before
studying social & political sciences. Or philosophy. Or Journalism. Or-- well, you get the idea. Going to take a while before I'm sure of myself. :P

That's pretty much a bit of me in a nutshell.

Took a trip to the cinema. V for Vendetta was released in Malaysia today and my brother was sweet enough to buy a ticket for me.

I was really looking forward to this movie, although I thought it was going to be one of those films where my mind would wander during the boring scenes. Really wasn't. Loved the whole movie, didn't have a chance for idle thoughts.

Honestly, not sure if my other two siblings enjoyed it (I'm being called childish for liking it...). They said that it was good, not amazing. Eitherways, I feel like watching it again. Hugo Weaving did an excellent job as V. Portman pulled off a shaky British accent. Not much else to say. :P

Nanny McPhee. A funny family sort of film. Better suited for kids, although I did enjoy watching it greatly (up until the ending anyway).

McPhee reminds me of my Biology teacher. o_O

Took another trip to the store. I'm faithful to Kino.

Fruits Basket Vol.3 & Vol.4
I'm really enjoying this series. Sometimes it feels like the events are going by so quickly but drawing towards the end, you just want to read more. Hidoshi, I've never watched the anime, so I'm not sure if my opinion is that valuable. :P
Tohru finally meets with Akito. Hints of the Sohma Family's darker side are begining to grow more frequent. Yuki's fear and dislike for Akito is more evident than ever. Most of the Sohma family members (Akito is an exception) show affection for Tohru...and I'm begining to like her naive and humble disposition. No longer sickeningly sweet, just a little funny. I want to read more. Oh, that German-Japanese kid is adorable.

The Wallflower Vol.1 --- Vol.3
I'm too lazy to write about this. Basically, a group of four gorgeous guys are given the opportunity to board at a nice house for free if they can turn the almost always absent land lady's daughter into a true, pretty lady. The daughter is a creepy, horror-flick lover, self-pitying girl who denies all sense of her natural beauty, thinking that her to be beautiful would be going against nature or something like that. A funny series, pretty nice to read if you ask me. The characters are sometimes difficult to tell apart because two of them resemble one another. Sort of thing that's delightfully surprising and occasionally predictable.

Recently bought: "Priestess of the White" by Trudi Canavan. Slightly more than a hundred pages into the book...so far, so good.

Funny or not, donuts rule.

Took a trip to Kinokuniya today and ended up buying...

Host Club Vol.5-- Light-hearted and delightfully random. I love this series because it isn't as heavy (or fan-serviced) as others. Just a group of school students at Ouran High School who keep getting into funny situations. Kind of messy, in a way suitable to the storyline.

Fruits Basket Vol.1 & Vol.2
My friend recommended the Fruits Basket series. I don't like the art that much but it's nothing I can't adapt to. The characters can be categorized by stereotype and some (Kyo in particular) are a bit tiresome. That aside, I really like it. May pick up another two or three volumes next time. It's a little addictive. :P

I finally watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

It was a nice film. A little...uh, how do I put it? Random? Colourful? Eitherways, twas fun to watch. :P
1286  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Favorite Anime on: March 04, 2006, 04:22:05 AM
It's been a while since I've picked up any anime. They're more time consuming than manga, really.

My favourites (after the first, they come in no particular order)...

1) Haibane Renmei
2) Chrno Crusade
3) Samurai X
4) Princess Mononoke (Movie)
5) Spirited Away (Movie)

I still have some anime in my cupboard, waiting to be watched. Full Metal Alchemist and Scrapped Princess are among them. I've read manga in the love/drama genre but haven't checked out any anime in the same category.
