Faith in gaming, restored.

I don't understand why they don't do a tv series of this.

They could easily make this a BSG style series and have the seasons have long arcs. It's perfect for it.

Then again, it's already been done and better than it ever will be as a live action series.

I finally sat down and watched all 3 seasons of the original Star Trek.

Man, there is a lot of crap.

Certain things are interesting like how the series initially sets up a crewman as Kirk's potential gf before they decided to make him into a womaniser.

I didn't remember Scotty being in charge of the ship as much as he was.

Kirk and McCoy could be real dicks to Spock.

There are genuinely good episodes but there are so many episodes where they just magically go back in time or find an Earth like planet that emulates some part of Earth history, it's just ridiculous.

Does not hold up nearly as well as I expected.

I'm playing Devil Survivor Overclocked and it's *way* better than I expected.

I'm on Day 4 and the broad strokes of SMT plots are certainly there.

Edit - the game has crashed *twice* on me in the last hour during hard battles when I try and analyse memory cards. Not impressed at all.

Now I'm not sure if I'll play the DS version of DS2 right after or if I'll pick up the 3DS version.

I really can't justify $60 ($65 with tax) for a handheld game though.

What do you guys think of the last few seasons of South Park compared to the rest of the seasons?

Not perfect, but pretty funny and pretty consistent overall.

I think their ability to edit their programs quickly now helps them stay topical, which is to their advantage.

Just to be contrarian, the Beatles are the exception to the rule.

Their early stuff was pop fluff - the equivalent of boy band fodder.

And they finished with their best album - Abbey Road. (Let It Be was released after but recorded before)

For the big MGS fans, how do you feel that Konami vows to continue the series after Kojima leaves?

Are you happy there will be more MGS or are you let down that they'll never wrap it up and a convoluted story will go on forever?

It's been wrapped up with MGS4.

I haven't gotten around to MG Rising yet, but that's the game that seems to continue the story.

If they let Platinum do it? I might not be so upset. It's a wait and see at this point.
8  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: FF8 am i the only one who dislikes it so much? on: March 26, 2015, 07:13:29 PM
FF8 is by far the worst game, if only for its god awful, insult to intelligence story.

The fact they all magically forgot they were muppet babies together and the villain was their nanny was the only time I have rage quit a game because of its plot.

Truly, truly awful.

I'm being placed in a catholic school for my last placement.

I am a public school teacher who has long hair, earrings and likes Slayer. Hopefully I get through it without being exorcised.

Plus I got a job helping design an online course - $28 an hour! And this was right after getting a bursary for $1700!

Time to go buy Bayonetta! \(^^)/

Just a shambling corpse now.

Tooker is being reasonable and that's about it.

Everyone else is just "Fuck yeah digital! Fuck your opinion!"

Unless you consider calling my points about ownership of digital media "bullshit" as "being supportive of my desire for physical versions of my media".

Don't act like there's been a conversation. There hasn't been.

You and only you. Christ, talk about selfish.

It might be nice if they at least fixed the grammatical errors, but even if they don't people can take consolation that it's still going to run better than the Silent Hill HD collection.
14  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Suikoden 1 and 2 finally coming to psn + Suikoden discussion. on: December 08, 2014, 08:36:23 PM
Honestly the data transferring in Suikoden was always kinda pointless when characters level on a curve anyway, the equipment doesn't really do much, and there's no story bits to transfer other than your hero's name- wonder if they'll keep that glitch.
McDohl McDohl, hero of Toran

There actually is a bit of story data and you get to revisit one location from Suiko 1, if I remember correctly.

It still bugs me that both Chrono Cross and Legend of Mana are maligned simply because they aren't copy/pasted sequels of Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana.
