4726  Media / The Soundroom / Is the Policenauts soundtrack still in print? on: June 01, 2008, 11:58:00 PM
Thanks for the heads up from both of you. That bonus disc sounds great. I'm going to do some Ebay hunting around my birthday, so I'll keep it mind, thanks.

The first Grandia's story was just as abhorrent...

Not abhorrent, just had a huge swerve in it that you weren't expecting.

This week's episode is exactly why Stephen Moffat should be taking over. Credible, scary villains instead of stuff like a singing/dancing Master and reality show producing Daleks .
I can't wait for Series 5.
4729  Media / Single-Player RPGs / World Destruction Trailer, amazing music on: June 01, 2008, 02:26:14 AM
The kid looks like Yuri from Shadow Hearts. I had visions of Breath of Fire IV with the desert scenes. Good song.

Given the fact that they released Persona 3 FES in North America, Persona 4 is pretty much a certainty.

Nevermind, looks like someone on Neogaf figured out what it probably is.

Jesus, I hope that's not it.

Jet16 - thanks. I didn't know that existed.

You know, reading that card again, it actually makes me think more of Digital Devil Saga.

I could totally see Atlus reworking the game as an MMORPG, with two sides battling it out.

Now THAT'S a MegaTen I'd expect! Though, uhh, sounds like it's really not received well.

Not sure what you mean there.
4733  Media / The Soundroom / Is the Policenauts soundtrack still in print? on: May 31, 2008, 06:39:02 PM
I'm thinking about trying to make my way through Policenauts during the summer and was thinking about picking up the soundtrack around the same time. Does anyone know if it's still available to be ordered?

Same gameplay mechanics - check
Same behavioral model for enemies - check
Reused enemy animations - check
Las Plagas-esque looking thingies - check
Knife as a secondary weapon - check
Chainsaw man with a sack mask - check
Shinji Mikami as a game director - missing

No buy for me. Seriously, what an embarassment. That looks like RE4 HD Edition.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I didn't really enjoy RE4, but with new iterations of Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill and Fatal Frame all coming out this year, there's enough horror to go around.

Quote from: "Jet16"
I might as well try it. RE has never been really that scary (then again, what game has truly scared you?

The first Fatal Frame actually creeped the hell out of me when I played it.
4735  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Brett Ratner to do God Of War movie? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! on: May 31, 2008, 06:22:04 PM
From www.ps3fanboy.com

Video game movie adaptations haven't been all too successful, and it doesn't look like that trend will change once Brett Ratner joins the ring. The director of films, such as X-Men III and the Rush Hour series, is looking to go into the ever-growing genre of games movies. Currently, Ratner is producing a commercial for the Guitar Hero series. He is also directing the first non-Hannah Montana music video for Miley Cyrus. A man of many tastes, to be sure.

A quick blurb at the end of a recent Advertising Age article also suggests that his next target may be Sony's esteemed franchise. According to the article, "[Ratner] also mentioned that he might be working on a movie adaptation of the video game God of War." While the God of War franchise would make for an excellent film if in the right hands, we're still weary about the quality of games films. We'll see if anything comes to fruition.

I don't know how many people on this forum have played the GOW games, but I think most people at least have enough of a passing familiarity with them to know that Ratner is not the guy to do this type of movie. Especially after seeing X-Men 3.
4736  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / New The Dark Knight Trailer on: May 31, 2008, 06:20:39 PM
Me!

I think it's going to be great.

I thought that trailer above looked old.

There was a really good one in front of Indiana Jones.

Will be there first day for this.

Actually, I did find the second series better than the first.

The first episode of the second series in particular is really funny.

And The Simpsons brought to light the fact that many young cartoon boys are voiced by women.  Whether it's Bart Simpson being voiced by Nancy Cartwright or Ash Ketchum of Pokemon being voiced by Veronica Taylor and more recently Sara Natochenny, it's pretty common practice.

I don't know why I've never seen it before. It was great, and I watched it twice in a row.

That is a *great* movie
