Much better than I expected it to be, given RTD's past record with finales....though he usually blows it in the second half.

The one thing that bugged me was
Code:

While watching it. I realised how typically Rose was acting.

Everyone's trying to formulate a plan to save the Earth and Rose sits there bitching "Who's she? (about Martha) I was here first! Why isn't the Doctor paying attention to me? Whinewhinewhine".

Fucking whorechrist.....My characters are all between levels 68-73 and I *still* get wiped out by Dormina and Calm Death from time to time.

Shit like that is just incredibly aggravating.

I'm still trying to max out my charts is Digital Devil Saga 1. It's repetitive and taking a long time, but I'm doing the sidequests now as well, which is helping.

As for Assassin's Creed, it's the only game I have ever bought and traded in. Easily one of the single worst games I have ever played in my life.

It looked so promising....and turned out to be a stinky pile of doo. Anything from Ubisoft will be a rental for me from now on.

In Sony's corporate strategy meeting, it was also announced that early anticipated RPG White Knight Chronicles (Shirokishi Monogatari) will be released in the 2008 financial year. The game is being developed by Level-5, the studio behind the Professor Layton games. The third-person game was playable at last year's Tokyo Game Show. It's expected to do brisk business in Japan.

Seinfeld does the same sort of thing, making you take a closer look at the everyday things in life and say, wow that is weird/stupid/silly etc.

Yes but the difference between them is Seinfeld had no balls.

Carlin had genuinely biting humour. And he wasn't afraid of offending people with his opinion. If you didn't like it....tough.

Seinfeld and Carlin should *never* be mentioned in the same sentence when talking about comedy.

There are rumours that Kratos is going to be a playable character in the PS3 version of Soul Calibur IV.

That was an awesome example of 1985. And people are nostalgic for that shit?

Best Quake mod ever!

The level of detail is surprising.

4795  The Rest / General Discussions / 10 essential games on: June 23, 2008, 03:34:41 AM
Need For Speed High Stakes - good controls, decent graphics, great soundtrack, Fun To Play. Never played a better racer.

GTA 3 - Despite it showing its age, it's still the best example of the 3D GTA series, with the best story and voice acting.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence - I agree with Hidoshi but the Subsistance camera is what makes all the difference

Ico - Strikingly original, like a visual representation (to me) of the old Zork games, where you just explored. Perfect for new players or for the casual "Myst lover" types.

Katamari Damacy - I agree with Shiguma.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney - A nice alternative to show people that games aren't all about shooting hookers and running over people. A solid translation and interesting characters actually make this something people want to keep playing.

Grandia - A fairly soft introduction to RPGs that's not too difficult, an easy battle system to learn and doesn't require *too* much grinding. A good gateway drug for RPG novices.

I just hope we aren't treated to two episodes of more Doctor as Jesus imagery.....please let it be good.

It's funny going back and watching Runaway Bride and seeing just how awful Donna was in that to how much better she is now.

4799  The Rest / General Discussions / College girls banned from whistling at builders on: June 22, 2008, 11:44:14 PM
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/2174531/College-girls-banned-from-whistling-at-builders.html

A further education college is having to protect builders from wolf-whistling girls, in a reversal of traditional gender stereotypes.

Officials at West Kent College in Tonbridge, Kent, sent an email to all pupils warning that the behaviour was "totally unacceptable", and saying any students caught harassing contractors would face disciplinary action.

The email was sent after a demolition team started work on a 94 million, three-year building project at the campus.

The email read: "It has come to the attention of the college that some female students have been making comments to, or whistling at, the builders both whilst on site and as they walk around the campus.

"Although we are sure no offence is meant, this constitutes harassment and is wholly unacceptable.

"We have asked the contractors' representative to pass on all instances of harassment to the college and we will take appropriate action which may include disciplinary action."

A spokeswoman for the contractors, Galliford Try, said: "We have no registered complaints on this issue. However we do not condone inappropriate behaviour from any parties on our sites."

Meanwhile new laws could see wolf-whistling builders placed on the sex offenders register. The Sexual Offences (Scotland) Bill will create a new offence of "communicating indecently", punishable by up to 10 years in jail.

The legislation is intended to punish sexual harassment by text, emails and letters, but ministers also aim to include sexually explicit comments to strangers. It is expected that the law would only apply to persistent offenders.

At the moment, workmen who repeatedly make obscene comments to passers-by can be convicted of a breach of the peace.
