I saw this at a store today, in English, and considered picking it up.
Figured I'd ask for a few opinions from here first, if anyone has played it.
Looks ok but a bit generic, which is what I've mostly heard.
Anyone like it?

I'm interested in both this and Too Human, simply for the fact that they both look like "hard scifi" games, rather than fantasy.

Media / Single-Player RPGs / How Did You Play Final Fantasy XII?

I liked it overall. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "manually" controlling a character. Not using gambits, issuing each order manually rather than letting the system do it all automatically (Well, outside of using fight over and over at least). And I had fun before the point where I went on hiatus. I just found it enjoyable to do for a bit, make some progress... Then just stop playing. I found that too, actually. I played it on and off for a couple of months before I finished it. I largely did things manually, as far as magic and healing went. Pretty much only used fight.

"Aonuma says that judging by Japanese sales so far, accessible 'stream-lined play has been effective,' but he wants to see how Western audiences react to the new Zelda before making a final decision on future games' difficulty levels"
This strikes me as harkening back to the days when we got a dumbed down version of Final Fantasy II because the Japanese version was "too hard" for western gamers.

That was the best part about 3.
Filling in different parts of the story from different viewpoints. hang on... ur pic of kirby drinking an orange substance... thats orange juice, right? Sure. I thought 3 was probably the second best in the series, the Trinity sight system was a great way to add something new and interesting to the series. I wished Thomas became the focal point eventually though. Funny, most people hate Thomas. Nice to see someone else who doesn't.

It's nice that they've got redesigned PSPs, and /finally/ some color diversity. But, shit. I don't want my white PSP to have Darth Vader's face plastered all over the back. I'll probably just wait and see what happens, but the blue one would be nice to have anyway.
Edit: Wait it's silver. I swear I saw a blue one somewhere. I've seen the blue ones - the guy at the store where I bought mine had one. I was going to buy one before I saw it, but they're pretty fugly. Ironically, mine's silver. On a disappointing note.... Not all that many RPGs in the show, are there?

Basically EA is feeding into the shorter attention span/ADD culture that is developing. And I don't like it. Here's the irony, I have ADD... a fairly severe case too.... Okay - I should offer an apology. I throw that term around alot without thinking about it. Sorry. No disrespect intended.

Cauton pretty much summed it up.
Terrible conference.
Either Sony will be humbled by last year (ha) or they'll walk in overconfident because of the two poor showings.
God I hope they don't blow it.
