4786  Media / Single-Player RPGs / RIZ-ZOAWD -- Wizard of Oz + Wild Arms developers! on: June 17, 2008, 04:57:23 PM
It's funny, because books like Alice In Wonderland and Wizard of Oz seem fairly obvious for RPG conversion, yet I've never really thought about it until this came up.

Looks interesting.

Strange Brew

What a *great* movie.

Are there any J-RPGs, as a rule, that are punishingly difficult? The only ones I can think of would be the Atlus games. And it's not that those are difficult, it's just knowing which spell to use at which time.

J-RPGs on the whole aren't *overly* difficult, it's just that there's so much level grinding involved.

Yeah, I was disappointed to hear about the localisation.

Especially in this day and age.

I would say get Xenosaga I, since people seem to be putting it forth as a suggestion.

It's not a cakewalk, but I didn't find it punishing either, at least in comparison to Atlus games.

Oh and I second the Atlus recommendations, especially since it sounds like they're getting easier to find.
4791  The Rest / General Discussions / TVersity - Media Streaming Program for game consoles on: June 17, 2008, 03:10:32 AM
Has anyone heard of this?

While doing my wireless PS3 stuff tonight, my friend told me about a program he uses called TVersity.

It streams audio and video (and internet audio and video) from your computer onto your console - with the option to download if you want - wirelessly.

I've got it streaming the entire series of Robotech off of my computer right now and it's working without a hitch.

And it's *Free*.

The only drawback to the program is it doesn't really have a good user's manual, and you have to blunder around in the dark a bit to get it going.

Once you install the program though and set it to the device you want, you're golden. There's no software required for the console to use and everything is streaming.

It's a really cool program.

Recommended if you download a lot of TV shows/movies/anime and you want to be able to relax in your living room.

I'm using it for my PS3. It's also listed (in the menu) as working for PSP, Wii(!), 360, Iphone and several other devices.

I've never seen FMA either actually.

What, so they're selling them opened?
4795  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Decent and difficult PS 1/2 rpg on: June 16, 2008, 11:26:45 PM
It wasn't *really* difficult, but some people found the battle system challenging, so I thought it might be worth a mention.

And it is decent.

:P

Now what's all this talk of Gamestop "gutting" them.

What does that mean?

So it's out - or is coming out shortly.

And getting mixed to horrible reviews.

Anyone tried it?

Last Exile was an overhyped piece of shit. Aside from the animation, art, and opening theme, I wanted the time I wasted watching this back. It doesn't even have a frickin' plot until the last four episodes.

I'll watch it and decide for myself thanks.
4800  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Digital Devil Saga question on: June 16, 2008, 09:37:23 AM
Well I might as well do it before Sept, while I do.

I've only been here a week and don't know anyone, and I'm too poor to go out.

Might as well use the time somehow.
