YELLING I don't get all the love for CT. Yeah, I understand it was revolutionary and all for its time, but from all the times I've tried to play it, it never really impressed me. But maybe this was because I didn't actually play the game until 2000 or so. Chrono Cross, on the other hand, I loved, much to most of my friends' chagrin. Yeah, the characters were pretty terrible, but I loved the setting and the main story. The fact that the game was set in an archipelago might have been the main thing that won me over, since I just happen to be drawn to that type of setting (possibly also why I liked Suikoden IV). Funny, I feel largely the same way - but figured I'd get butchered into pieces (metaphorically) for saying so.

TOS - sucks.
Tales games suck all around.
So did SO3.
Radiata Stories sucked the most. Couldn't even be bothered to get past the first mission. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too childish for me.
Chrono Trigger doesn't suck. But it's one of those games that's way overrated. Like Final Fantasy 7 and Zelda OOT
I finally played it last fall but once Chrono died.....i just couldn't be bothered to finish it.

I thought Jacobi was great - but John Simm was *wayyyy* too camp and over the top for my liking. I was actually pretty disappointed.
Didn't know the one spoiler about what caused the rift in Cardiff...but it's interesting if true.

It's hard not to turn your back, in disgust to anyone who would promote it... it FEELS like a personal attack on your sensibilities... you take it personally. Its like that for me with CC and SO3. On the flopside, I realize that some of my favorite games are deeply offensive to some people: FF8 being the big one. CC being Chrono Cross? I try to leave that one alone. I certainly can't say I've ever found games "offensive". Just divisive. Same with FF 8.

The Rest / General Discussions / I lost another cat today

In the five years since I moved to Korea, I've lost four cats. The last one being today.
One due to old age (she was 20)
One due to poor health
One due to I don't know what - parents were away and I was at the house taking care of the cats. Cat disappeared for three days, then I found it dead in the basement.
One had bone cancer...fuck. This one was the nicest cat I've ever had. Wicked disposition. California surfer cat. Whatever. Found out today his back leg stiopped working last week and he wouldn't eat. Not too pleased about his final days....and the fact I didn't get to see him after Xmas.

Season one with Eccleston was pretty much awful Don't tell that to Degolas... Too late. I stand by it. It was pretty terrible. But I like John Simm and I'm looking forward to the final 3 of this season of Who, if the rumours are true.

Hmm, well even with the facial emoting in Suikoden V, it was pretty simplistic body language. That still doesn't mean it would've fit on a DS. Not even close.

There's also the factor too that wasting time to flesh out an online experience harms development of the single player game. I've never played an online RPG that has a decent story. I don't think they exist. i have, can you guess what it is? Honestly? No. I can't imagine an online RPG with a good story.
