4816  Media / The Soundroom / New *Live* Bloodbath CD on: March 13, 2008, 08:44:18 AM
Swedish death metal "supergroup" BLOODBATH has issued the following update:

"The first and so far only concert with BLOODBATH will finally see the dawn (of the dead) as a live CD/DVD digipak entitled 'The Wacken Carnage' on Peaceville April 21st. Almost three years have passed since this carnage took place in Wacken, but worry not — we were already past our best 'expiration date' back when we started the band, so this concert will consequently prove our old school principled death metal values remain timeless. The elegantly brutal artwork was created by Travis Smith."

"The Wacken Carnage" track listing:

01. Intro
02. Cancer Of The Soul
03. So You Die
04. Soul Evisceration
05. Ways To The Grave
06. Ominous Bloodvomit
07. Like Fire
08. Bastard Son Of God
09. Breeding Death
10. Outnumbering The Day
11. Brave New Hell
12. Furnace Funeral
13. Eaten

Peaceville Records has launched a mini-site for the release of "Unblessing the Purity", the new mini-CD from BLOODBATH — where you can hear exclusive audio previews of all four songs. The mini-CD is also now available for pre-order for only £4.99 (£4.25 outside of EU) plus shipping and handling. Note that the initial pressing will only be available from Peaceville's online store, so go get your copy now!

BLOODBATH will release "Unblessing The Purity" on March 10 through Peaceville Records. According to the band, "The classic old-school-looking cover artwork was created by Dusty Peterson who won last year's competition. We'd like to congratulate Dusty and thank him for visualizing our art concept. We'd also like to thank all the other artists for taking their time and effort to submit their creations even though it didn't make it all the way. Look out for audio-preview teasers to be posted shortly."

BLOODBATH 2008 is:

Mikael Åkerfeldt - Vocals
Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström - Guitar
Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson - Guitar
Jonas Renkse - Bass
Martin "Axe" Axenrot – Drums

Check out a photo of the new lineup at this location.

"Unblessing The Purity" track listing:

01. Blasting The Virginborn (Music & Lyrics by Renkse)
02. Weak Aside (Music & Lyrics by Nyström)
03. Sick Salvation (Music by Eriksson, Lyrics by Renkse)
04. Mouth Of Empty Praise (Music by Eriksson/Renkse, lyrics by Renkse)

OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt previously stated about his return to BLOODBATH, "I was slightly 'talked into' coming back but I certainly don't regret it now. Obviously I am busy all the time, both with my family and OPETH, so don't hold your breath for any massively extensive tours, BUT, I do believe we'll do the occasional gigs when the time is right. I was asked to sing on a four-track release the other guys been working with entitled 'Unblessing the Purity' and I have to say it's the best fucking death metal I've heard since 'Domination', and I'm not even counting my own involvement. I just basically did what they wanted me to and it sounds really good! We might record another album as well sometime later..."

BLOODBATH's latest album, "Nightmares Made Flesh", received a U.S. release in March 2005 via Century Media Records. Due to the long gap between the European and North American release dates, the American version was enhanced with two bonus songs taken from a previously unreleased demo recording of "Breeding Death" EP, as well as a different front cover, featuring artwork by Wes Benscoter

I'm going on the 21st for 3 days with a friend as I got a deal on the tickets. Anyone been? Any suggestions other than checking out the harbour?

I'm replaying Grandia right now - on disc 2.

I had forgotten that Grandia promotes terrorism.

It has Al Qada in it!

Yes, only for the fact the Suikoden III is a much better game.

My PS2 won't play PS2 games - but will play PS1 games (It's like an 80 gig PS3!) so I'm playing Persona Revelations.

It's interesting going back but it's kind of a hard game to love.
*Terrible* translation, lots and lots of level grinding.....it's pretty unforgiving.

Graphics aren't really important though - and the music is good.

How the christ do I do spoiler tags again?

Hey that's all well and good but I was more of a "Mr. Dress-up" man.

He was the Canadian equivalent:P

But still, mark me down:)

Amen to that. Mr. Dressup was the shit.

I'll wear a sweater if it's not too hot.

The PS2 had suckass releases for the first year or so also, don't forget. Each PS gen has (thankfully) been an RPG magnet, and I figured I wouldn't be disappointed here. I'm glad I bought my PS3 when I did.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but the combat isn't turned based in this game, is it?

Or are you referring to Shadow Hearts being a pseudo-successor to Koudelka?

Yes, SH being the spiritual sequel to Koudelka - it wasn't quite a sequel but definitely had its roots in it.

I think it's fair to say that there's nothing pseudo or spiritual about Shadow Hearts. There's a direct link there.

As for Persona, that series had time to gain some notoriety in NA, because those were the only MegaTen games released during the PS1 era.

Resident Evil 4? Good controls, good graphics, hated the story and *loathed* the escort missions. My least favourite RE of all of them.

What I saw of FFX-2 (watched my friend play the first hour or so ..... and I fell asleep while he was playing it) was enough to convince me it wasn't the game for me.

Fucking typical. I move from Korea and THEN they have a concert there?

God Dammit.

We're never going to get the old PS1 Squaresoft back. It was dead as soon as it merged with Enix.
That's not meant as a slam on Enix, just more of a sign that the old Square was not financially viable anymore.

It's a drag, I'd love to have it back, but we'll never get it.
I'm just grateful we got the games we got when we did.

Can I just chime in and say Fucking Right On?

Sure, but about what?

About Fes.
I had given up on getting it. Between this and Valkyria Chronicles, I'm a happy, happy boy.
