most of the 360's made after Nov last year are pretty stable... I've had mine since Jan, and its still going strong...

Yeah, but there's supposed to be a new model coming out this summer which has fixed most of the RROD issues. I will possibly get a 360 for my birthday in August since they're supposed to be coming out in June/July.

in any case, isn't Mass Effect kinda "sand-box" type of game? Exploration and the like is something that's not seen much in JRPGs hey?

That's true, and I hadn't thought about it that way. I guess I just would just like a little more freedom and be able to go to a whole bunch of different planets. Who doesn't want that in a sci fi game?

How is it?  :(

It's good. Impressively good.

Give it a download - I found it on IsoHunt.

Degolas - Just got into Black Mountain about a week ago after reading about them.

They are impressively good.

Oh yeah - A Clash/Killers mashup.

To put this on topic,

I want planetary exploration.

I know Mass Effect had it - but I haven't played it yet and probably won't until the fall (when I plan to pick up the new model of 360 that supposedly doesn't crap out after 2 days).

A prequel doesn't really fill me with confidence, but the expansiveness (potentially) does.

Well there are also space limitations to think about.

Of course they can fit a 40 hour FF6 on a gameboy cartridge.

But "modern day" graphics and such on a DS cartridge + music = 40 hours?

Might be tough to fit. I wasn't expecting a 40 hour game on the DS.

I'm just happy to hear that it sounds like it doesn't suck.

Noticed the first review is up.

Sounds interesting, if a little like SMT.

Looking forward to something new.

I thought a faggot was a bundle of wood or sticks.

How the hell are they eating it?

I don't disagree with you, but for me it was fine because I have a slim PS2 that is only a year old, so I didn't need the backwards compatibility for PS2 games and it plays PS1 games.

Yeah but, not everyone is going to have that. Some people may have older PS2s like me who want the full BC for all their games.

Thankfully, I got a 60 gig, but I'd be pretty fucked off if I bought an 80 gig PS3 and then my PS2 died shortly after.

So I've only started paying attention to this game now, via word of mouth.

Are people enjoying it?

New trailer!

Interesting. Gives me hope that it will be expansive like it looks.

By the time Wii shortages are over, I'll have MGS 4 and Little Big Planet and I just won't care.

4980  The Rest / General Discussions / Watershed Games on: March 29, 2008, 11:33:59 PM
Hmm - it's a tough call but I'd say Silent Hill was a real watershed moment for horror games, even moreso than Resident Evil.

It has better voice acting (comparatively) and is a hell of alot scarier. I know Alone in The Dark came out before both of the games I just mentioned, but I'd say SH is the one the most people sat in their living rooms and crapped their pants with.

Another one would be Doom. Not only for being one of the first FPS but also notable for being one of the first games to use shareware to promote itself.
