4966  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Suikoden 1 discussion! SPOILER ALERT!!! on: February 23, 2008, 02:37:09 AM
Well it's funny how people complain about how slow Suikoden V is considering it's a good 8 hours before you get your castle in Suikoden 2.

I'm going through Suiko 2 now and I'd forgotten what a complete bastard Jowy is.
4969  Media / Single-Player RPGs / which one to play first ? on: February 20, 2008, 09:07:42 AM
I'm too late, but you should've gone for Xenogears

Terrible translation and all, that stuff is still better than the shit that is spewed out of Victor Ireland.

Almost finished summer vacation in P3. Keep losing the grinding I do because my PS2 keeps freezing - which is really starting to piss me off.
4971  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 3 on: February 11, 2008, 06:51:13 AM
I have to say the only thing that I really don't like about the game is that I have to manually go from person to person to check their status and equipment.
It's a fucking pain in the ass.

My PS2 is dying....it keeps freezing after about half an hour of play time. Fucking figures that it would do it right after I arrive here. Hopefully I can find a place to get the laser replaced or get a new one and get it chipped so it will play NA games. It seems I'm destined to never finish this game.

In related Opeth news:

Swedish progressive metal titans OPETH have set "Watershed" as the title of their forthcoming album, due out on June 3 via Roadrunner Records (one day earlier internationally). The CD, recorded in the band's native Sweden and produced by frontman/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt and Jens Bogren, is a masterwork that follows the time-honored OPETH tradition; its modern yet timeless, progressive yet paying homage to the sounds of classic rock.

"Watershed" track listing:

01. Coil
02. Heir Apparent
03. The Lotus Eater
04. Burden
05. Porcelain Heart
06. Hessian Peel
07. Hex Omega

All the songs were written by Åkerfeldt apart from "Porcelain Heart", which was co-written with new guitarist Fredrik Åkesson. One additonal track, "Derelict Herds", was also recorded and this was written by Mikael Åkerfeldt and Per Wiberg. On top of this, three cover songs were recorded. "Bridge of Sighs" from ROBIN TROWER's 1974 LP of the same title, "Den Ständiga Resan" (sung in Swedish) by MARIE FREDRIKSSON as well as the classic ALICE IN CHAINS song "Would?" (Cool!)

The album was recorded at Fascination Street studios during November 1 and December 13. Some additional recording was done between January 3 and January 7.

Says Mikael Åkerfeldt: "I've worked so hard with these songs for quite some time now, I've listened to 'em a zillion times. I don't hate them just yet! The album sounds great sonically and I think I can hear us evolving as the record plays on. It is taking us somewhere musically and I don't know where. It's very exciting to say the least! I can't remember having enjoyed a recording this much ever before."

The cover was (as usual) designed by Travis Smith in co-operation with Åkerfeldt.

You guys are right - coffee raises charm.
Karaoke raises courage.

I didn't know about the shrine raising academics, thanks.

It actually broke me from wearing it :(
Korean taxi drivers can be extremely pissy.
4977  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 3 on: February 03, 2008, 05:28:39 PM
Fair enough, I guess that's the same with any RPG, really.

It wasn't meant as a swipe against the game, I'm actually really enjoying it. I guess I'm a little surprised more than anything.
4978  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 3 on: February 03, 2008, 01:45:50 PM
I found the bosses, in particular, fairly easy.

The last bosses I fought were at the love hotel, which tells you where I am in the game. So I can only assume that it gets harder from there.
4979  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 3 on: February 03, 2008, 01:34:20 PM
I would have to say that this is the easiest game of all the SMT games released for PS2, in terms of bosses and not dying one shot deaths.

I'm only in July in Persona 3 though, so maybe it gets harder.

I'm terrible about wearing my seatbelt.
I got out of the habit because Korean taxi drivers always used to get slightly insulted when you put it on and they'd always tell us how great their driving is and how we don't need them.
