5086  Media / The Soundroom / Iron Maiden Tour 2008 on: February 01, 2008, 03:05:23 PM
British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN kicked off their Somewhere Back In Time - World Tour '08 with a headlining performance Friday night (February 1) in front of nearly 100,000 fans at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, India. The group's setlist was as follows:

01. Intro - Churchill's Speech
02. Aces High
03. 2 Minutes to Midnight
04. Revelations
05. The Trooper
06. Wasted Years
07. The Number of the Beast
08. Run to the Hills
09. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
10. Powerslave
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Can I Play With Madness?
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden
15. Moonchild
16. The Clairvoyant
17. Hallowed Be Thy Name

IRON MAIDEN's Somewhere Back In Time - World Tour '08 trek revisits the band's incredible history by focusing almost entirely on the '80s in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian production of the 1984-85 Powerslave tour. This is arguably be the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented, and includes some key elements of their Somewhere In Time tour of 1986/7, such as the Cyborg Eddie.

NOTHING from Killers? :(

About 1/2 through Mr. B Gone by Clive Barker.

It's a fun read and even though it's classed as horror, I dunno if I would classify it as that.

It seems more in the vein of his fantasy books.

Here's a question:

Which of Barker's longer fantasyish works are worth picking up?

I'd read that alot of them seemed overlong and self indulgent.

(Though I have both Abarat books and enjoy those.)

I thought people would be happy about that news.

To anyone on the fence who has a Wii already, I have to ask you a question: Are you one of those frustrated by the low number of quality third party releases on the Wii? If the answer's yes and you can afford it, then just buy the damn game.

How about someone who's on the fence about buying a Wii.

Between this and the new Fatal Frame shots, I'm teetering.

Would this, Zack and Wiki and a new Fatal Frame make the Wii worth owning?
5092  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Level 5 announces new game: A... DS Graphic Adventure? on: January 30, 2008, 09:06:08 PM
Yeah, it's coming out right after I go back overseas. FUCK.

This is in my top 5 for this year too, god dammit.

I think it's more of a graphic adventure.

A mystery, I believe.

I gave up on Assassin's Creed.
The game is unplayable and the story sucks.

I thought I might finish Persona 3 before I went back overseas on Sunday, but it doesn't look like I will. I've been playing it on PS3, and I don't have a thingie to exchange saves from memory cards, so I guess I'll just start over when I get there. :(
5094  Media / The Soundroom / Opeth singer returns to Bloodbath on: January 30, 2008, 12:16:31 PM
Swedish death metal supergroup BLOODBATH has issued the following update:

"So the time has come for BLOODBATH to once again poison the scene with a contagious doze of über brutal death metal. An old acquaintance in this zombified bloodline has once again re-visited his old home. We can now announce that the vocalist on the new mini-CD is none other than Mikael Åkerfeldt courtesy of OPETH.

"Second deathster to join the elite is Mr. Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson (ex-21 LUCIFERS, ex-GENOCRUSH FEROX). Sodomizer's brutal death metal songwriting approach as well as guitar shredding is a highly welcomed element in the legacy of BLOODBATH."

My name is also Neal.

I'm from Canada and I currently live just outside of Toronto.

The other Neal (Dincrest) on this board is the only other person I've ever seen who's spelled it that way.

I teach ESL English overseas and I've worked in both Korea and Japan. I'm going to be moving to Taiwan in February where I'll be working until the fall. If all goes according to plan, I'll be coming back to school for my education degree either in Ottawa or Montreal.

The one sport I really enjoy (if you can call it a sport) is scuba diving.
Love it. And I've been getting better at doing underwater photography, which is fucking impossible to do when you start. I spent two months in Thailand last year just mucking about with scuba courses and drinking girlie drinks on the beach and loved both.

No other real unusual hobbies - reading - I like horror and scifi.
Music - big death metal fan but also "classic" rock fan and drum & bass fan.
I was a fairly big sketcher when I was younger, and I enjoyed it, but I've let my skills lapse.

Mostly I enjoy travelling to new places because I get bored easily, which is partly why I'm going to Taiwan this time.

One sister and one nephew, who is already getting good at video games at 4 years old.
