Thanks for the long posts about it.

The tutorial was interesting but I get the feeling combat could get repetitive depending on how long you put into it.

It does look like it's going to be a well polished story, and the voice acting seems like it's pretty good.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow, they get lots of games as presents and that their day is without any family drama.

It's not really an RPG though, it's got some similarities but as much as I or others will argue about Zelda's status, Steambot make Zelda look like Dragon Quest.

The game's $20, so it's not exactly a risky purchase. Hell, I think it's $13 used now or something at GameStop.

I got it for $20. Interesting you say it's not an RPG, being published by Atlus, I just assumed it was.

And that reminds me - I need to pick up Bully.
5089  Media / The Soundroom / Digital Devil Saga Question on: December 23, 2007, 08:18:48 PM
I have the four disc set that comprises DDS 1 & 2.

I noticed the single disc OST for DDS 1 and wondered about it.

Is it a kind of "best of" or is it more of a SMT Maniacs or Persona FES type of disc? Is it worth getting if you have the four disc package?
5090  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Games of the Year on: December 23, 2007, 08:16:51 PM
For RPGFan's GOTY, I'm going to go on a limb and say Brave Story New Traveller for PSP.

Ok....maybe not game of the year, but maybe best handheld RPG.

I get the impression that FF Tactics had too many problems with sound and loading for some people.

Is there going to be a Soundtrack of the Year as well?
5091  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 4 next year? on: December 23, 2007, 12:31:19 PM

The inability of developers to cope with technical demands is a significant problem, so I don't expect much PS3 output in the near future.

Well, it's getting better. The fact that Insomniac put out two high profile games in about a year, that were so drastically different, gives me hope for a variety of PS3 content.

I'm tempted to say Silent Hill Origins (Not an RPG but damn good.)

I'll have to wait and see about Persona 3. Hopefully, I'll be getting it for Xmas.

Wahahahahahaha--WHAT?! Ports?! Are you stupid?

That's... Oh man, I can't believe how stupid that was. That's like saying a cat is a dog man.

What?

Quote from: "Hidoshi"
It... No. What the fuck is wrong with you?

It would be nice if some people could make a point without simply typing FUCKFUCKFUCK-I WIN.

No-...Oh my God. So all along, those "classic Disney fairytales" were in fact dirty, disgusting, waste of space REMAKES? GOD DAMNIT. All those stories suck now.  Disney should have used its resources to create superior, original movies.  Let's march against Disney together, Lard.

Just because you don't like one of my posts in one part of the forum, doesn't mean you have to be a dick in another part.

I'd like to see a big budget adaptation of the Amber series by Roger Zelazny. In the right hands, it would be *awesome*.

Don't think this qualifies an RPG....though the closest comparison I can think of is Shenmue, and people seem to classify that as one.

I picked this up last week fairly cheap, since it's the only high profile title from Sega I've been interested in a while, and it was nice to see them not doing a terrible Sonic game.

I partly picked this up on the assumption that it was going to be *sort of* an adventure game...and the fact we're never getting Shenmue 3, so this was kind of a surrogate.

I tried the tutorial, which was, but did seem like it could get repetitive.

Just wondering how far off my assumptions are.

Naw, Lard, i think you're an elitist fuck that doesnt want younger audiences to be able to play a game with todays technology when they might have been a fucking fetus when it was initially released.

Get off your high horse, you're starting to sound dumb.

That's the stupidest thing ever posted on these boards.
God forbid someone have a differing opinion other than "REMAKES ARE TEH SHIZNIT!"

1) Lunar 1 and 2 were far, far more remake than port.

In what respects? Grandia especially, seemed a straight port.

Quote from: "MeshGearFox"
2) FFIV's gameplay hasn't really aged well.

That's subjective.

3) If Square made something new and innovative, everyone would bitch about them not staying true to their roots or something retarded like that.

Like when Kingdom Hearts came out?
5099  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Steambot chronicles on: December 22, 2007, 03:23:19 PM
I actually picked this up partly because I'd heard a few comparisons to Shenmue and partly because of the reaction to the sequel announcement on this board. People seemed genuinely excited, so I thought I'd check out the first one.

b) It's not pointless. Were remakes pointless we wouldn't have excellent remade experiences like Lunar:SSSC or Shining Force: RoDD. Think of it as an upgrade if you must, but you have got to get out of this childish mentality that equates remakes as a waste of time.

I believe Lunar 1&2 were both ports, as was Grandia. Not remakes.

I don't see how you get off acting this spoiled and stupid, but if you're content with that, do it silently and leave the rest of us with our happiness.

If wanting something new and original is acting spoiled, *especially* on a system that said it was going to innovate gaming, then fine, I'm "spoiled".

Enjoy paying for the same game for the ..... sixth time now?
