FFVIII sort of predated a lot of emo bands.

He didn't predate Emo. Emo began in the late 80's, fronted by DC bands Rites of Spring and Embrace. Most of the members of each band would later form Fugazi, which goes to show you how much eyeliner they must have worn.

(For those not familiar with Fugazi, that would mean none. The whole "emo aesthetic" came way after the creation of the Emo music genre).
Fugazi is emo?

I thought there had already been one but couldn't remember. I was waiting for more info on it. It's just nice to see that Atlus can survive and hasn't had to merge with another company to survive.
5118  Media / The Soundroom / Iron Maiden Tour 2008 on: February 01, 2008, 03:05:23 PM
British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN kicked off their Somewhere Back In Time - World Tour '08 with a headlining performance Friday night (February 1) in front of nearly 100,000 fans at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, India. The group's setlist was as follows:

01. Intro - Churchill's Speech
02. Aces High
03. 2 Minutes to Midnight
04. Revelations
05. The Trooper
06. Wasted Years
07. The Number of the Beast
08. Run to the Hills
09. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
10. Powerslave
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Can I Play With Madness?
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden
15. Moonchild
16. The Clairvoyant
17. Hallowed Be Thy Name

IRON MAIDEN's Somewhere Back In Time - World Tour '08 trek revisits the band's incredible history by focusing almost entirely on the '80s in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian production of the 1984-85 Powerslave tour. This is arguably be the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented, and includes some key elements of their Somewhere In Time tour of 1986/7, such as the Cyborg Eddie.

NOTHING from Killers? :(

About 1/2 through Mr. B Gone by Clive Barker.

It's a fun read and even though it's classed as horror, I dunno if I would classify it as that.

It seems more in the vein of his fantasy books.

Here's a question:

Which of Barker's longer fantasyish works are worth picking up?

I'd read that alot of them seemed overlong and self indulgent.

(Though I have both Abarat books and enjoy those.)

I thought people would be happy about that news.

To anyone on the fence who has a Wii already, I have to ask you a question: Are you one of those frustrated by the low number of quality third party releases on the Wii? If the answer's yes and you can afford it, then just buy the damn game.

How about someone who's on the fence about buying a Wii.

Between this and the new Fatal Frame shots, I'm teetering.

Would this, Zack and Wiki and a new Fatal Frame make the Wii worth owning?
5124  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Level 5 announces new game: A... DS Graphic Adventure? on: January 30, 2008, 09:06:08 PM
Yeah, it's coming out right after I go back overseas. FUCK.

This is in my top 5 for this year too, god dammit.

I think it's more of a graphic adventure.

A mystery, I believe.

I gave up on Assassin's Creed.
The game is unplayable and the story sucks.

I thought I might finish Persona 3 before I went back overseas on Sunday, but it doesn't look like I will. I've been playing it on PS3, and I don't have a thingie to exchange saves from memory cards, so I guess I'll just start over when I get there. :(
5126  Media / The Soundroom / Opeth singer returns to Bloodbath on: January 30, 2008, 12:16:31 PM
Swedish death metal supergroup BLOODBATH has issued the following update:

"So the time has come for BLOODBATH to once again poison the scene with a contagious doze of über brutal death metal. An old acquaintance in this zombified bloodline has once again re-visited his old home. We can now announce that the vocalist on the new mini-CD is none other than Mikael Åkerfeldt courtesy of OPETH.

"Second deathster to join the elite is Mr. Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson (ex-21 LUCIFERS, ex-GENOCRUSH FEROX). Sodomizer's brutal death metal songwriting approach as well as guitar shredding is a highly welcomed element in the legacy of BLOODBATH."

Anal Cunt - I Lit Your Baby On Fire

Classic track, but I prefer Pottery is Gay.

For some reason, I've been on an Anal Cunt kick all day.

At the moment - Art Fag

Edit - Technology Is Gay

Edit - I Snuck A Retard In A Sperm Bank

You get the idea.....
