Wasn't saying it was lame, I only had a short chance to check it out.

Got a chance to play for about half an hour this afternoon. Just basically an intro, but it seems alright. Still getting used to the art style. Nice to see both butterflies and lots of references to rumours right off the bat. Weird to have Igor with voice acting.

I was really surprised that the game came with both an art book and a cd. Really nice package. This seems like the kind of package you'd get with a pre-order, rather than a regular purchase.

I just realised, I think this is the fourth year in a row that I've gotten stuff from Atlus for Xmas. If Persona 4 comes out year, it'll make a nice round five.

There's some cinematic stuff for DDS1's though I believe, one or two tracks, while DDS2's really is more of a best of deal since it has a good mix of the two.

I assume you're talking about the four disc package there.

Thanks for the info.

Nice haul man!

Game Stuff

Persona 3
Phoenix Wright 3

A $100 gift card to EB games from my brother in law.
I might brave the mall tomorrow and pick up Assassin's Creed and Enchanted Arms, which I saw for $30.

Star Wars Lego pens (vaguely game related) which are actually pretty neat.

Non Game

Death Breath - Stinking Up The Night
Vampire Hunter D Vol 9 (book)
Clive Barker - Mister B Gone
Far Side calendar

And .... clothes.

Atlus' primarily outputs RPGs, but generally they're all about obscure and somewhat oddball games period. Certainly I wouldn't call games like Trauma Center RPGs anyway.

No, true enough. I just thought it was an RPG with Steampunk robots which control like Robot Alchemic Drive which is why I grabbed it.
5121  The Rest / General Discussions / Generally Unhappy Fairy tales on: December 24, 2007, 03:56:07 PM
I have a book called Grimm's Grimmest on my bookshelf which purported to be the "real" versions of Grimm Fairy Tales.

Haven't looked at it in years. I'll have to tonight.

I pretty much got my PS3 (for myself and parents chipped in $100)

I actually did the same thing for my birthday. Good luck with your gift certificates.

Thanks for the long posts about it.

The tutorial was interesting but I get the feeling combat could get repetitive depending on how long you put into it.

It does look like it's going to be a well polished story, and the voice acting seems like it's pretty good.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow, they get lots of games as presents and that their day is without any family drama.

It's not really an RPG though, it's got some similarities but as much as I or others will argue about Zelda's status, Steambot make Zelda look like Dragon Quest.

The game's $20, so it's not exactly a risky purchase. Hell, I think it's $13 used now or something at GameStop.

I got it for $20. Interesting you say it's not an RPG, being published by Atlus, I just assumed it was.

And that reminds me - I need to pick up Bully.
5126  Media / The Soundroom / Digital Devil Saga Question on: December 23, 2007, 08:18:48 PM
I have the four disc set that comprises DDS 1 & 2.

I noticed the single disc OST for DDS 1 and wondered about it.

Is it a kind of "best of" or is it more of a SMT Maniacs or Persona FES type of disc? Is it worth getting if you have the four disc package?
5127  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Games of the Year on: December 23, 2007, 08:16:51 PM
For RPGFan's GOTY, I'm going to go on a limb and say Brave Story New Traveller for PSP.

Ok....maybe not game of the year, but maybe best handheld RPG.

I get the impression that FF Tactics had too many problems with sound and loading for some people.

Is there going to be a Soundtrack of the Year as well?
5128  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 4 next year? on: December 23, 2007, 12:31:19 PM

The inability of developers to cope with technical demands is a significant problem, so I don't expect much PS3 output in the near future.

Well, it's getting better. The fact that Insomniac put out two high profile games in about a year, that were so drastically different, gives me hope for a variety of PS3 content.
5129  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Games of the Year on: December 23, 2007, 12:28:33 PM
I'm tempted to say Silent Hill Origins (Not an RPG but damn good.)

I'll have to wait and see about Persona 3. Hopefully, I'll be getting it for Xmas.

Wahahahahahaha--WHAT?! Ports?! Are you stupid?

That's... Oh man, I can't believe how stupid that was. That's like saying a cat is a dog man.

What?

It... No. What the fuck is wrong with you?

It would be nice if some people could make a point without simply typing FUCKFUCKFUCK-I WIN.
