I can't get enough Desmond. Tonight's episode made me want to cry.

Last night's episode discussed

SPOILERS

Ok, let's talk through last night. I am now thoroughly convinced that neither Jacob nor the MiB are good. Jacob is not God, the MiB is not the Devil. If there is one thing we know about the Lost creators, they aren't going to be tied down to a black v. white, good v. evil paradigm. Last night, Jacob and his devil-like manipulation came through. For example, the scene where Ricardo asks: "Can I see my wife? Can you absolve me of my sins?" To both of these, Jacob says no. In a Judeo-Christian world, "God" would absolve a man of his sins. Instead, Jacob relies on a Faustian like Deal that keeps Richard alive forever. Further, it has also become evident that we are seeing is not a flash-sideways in the traditional sense. What we are seeing is the world and how it would exist without Jacob AND the MiB. Without Jacob's manipulation of their lives, you can see nuaces, i.e. Sawyer does not have the note that drives him to crime; Jack does not have the same father issues that forces him to not have children of his own; etc. I'd love to hear what others think.

Last person on the planet to see Avatar.

Terrible writing mars potential: 7/10

Loved it.
Though if you try explaining it to someone who hasn't seen the show, they will never start watching it.

I like the alternate timeline thingy they have going on.  Interesting to see some of the inconsistencies, changes, and how...well, after seeing the history the characters develop between eachother and what the viewer sees, you feel something so empty because the characters just aren't interacting the way they should.  Prime example was with Sun and Jin; the island experience really changes things for them.  Weird Desmond was on there.

I thought of this the other day: is there any way that we're not seeing a paralell universe; rather, we're looking at a flash forward to what the season 6 losties are about to do. Perhaps this season's goal will be to get them to the point where they can really "reset" things?

Anyone want to comment on the season premiere?

Mine depends on Sports Seasons:

During the winter (not a lot, big into college hoops): ave about 20 min/day

During the summer: 1-2 hours/day

Blace I have the perfect DVD picked out for you...but I may wait to see it come out on Blu Ray before I buy it for you.

Let me do some research on when it will come to BLU,

The fact I'm 27 makes it a little more sketch...

Is it weird for me to get aroused by Blace's avatar?

I'm not that willing to enter into a genre debate, but American Beauty is clearly a drama (with comedic elements).

By definition, look at how the movie ends? As such, it cannot be categorized as a comedy.

Anyway, I'll leave it alone at that point. Also, Josh, you can compare movies that are in different genres qualitatively.

Which is a better movie: The Dark Knight or Star Wars? Citizen Kane or Singing in the Rain?

Genre is irrelevant to film meritocracy,

Um, they are both "dramas"

American Beauty. Everyone go watch it right now. Unless you have already seen it, then just remember its awesomeness.

Spoken like a person who needs to see a lot more movies.

American Beauty is like Catcher in the Rye--you'll see how unimpressive it is the more movies you see...

I'm pretty sure this is one of the best films I have ever seen, and every person I've talked to has said the same thing. Critics loved it too.

There is a reason the AFI still hasn't ranked it in the top 100. For a "recent" movie, go watch Schindler's List and then tell me American Beauty is better.

How about Etrian Odyssey in terms of difficulty?
