King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man

New recording with the singer from Tool on vocals. It's friggin' immense!

I watched a British horror film called Mum and Dad. It did a really good job of putting an original spin on the torture/bondage horror flick, and went for suspense more than gore. My only real complaint is that it had no idea how to wrap things up, so the ending was pretty cliched, and slightly naff.

Congrats, Neal! You're looking good! (Impossible to say that without it sounding really gay :P)

My record is 87 pounds in 9 months (around 6 stone). I lost about a stone more after that, but it took a lot longer because I got lazy! I've put some of that weight back on through weight training now, though.

Anyway, I went through an Alien series marathon this week since I had never seen them before. I love, love, loved Alien, thought Aliens was great but not quite as good as the first, and thought Alien 3 was a massive piece of crap. I don't have access to Resurrection yet so I haven't watched it, but my expectations are lower after Alien 3.

The Alien vs. Aliens debate is one I have with my housemate a lot :P He narrowly prefers Aliens and I narrowly prefer Alien. And it's seriously narrow! I agree with you that Alien 3 is pretty poor, although I think it had massive potential. As for Resurrection, you're right not to get your hopes up :P

I loved both Alien and Aliens, but like you I slightly prefer Alien. Did you like Resurrection more than Alien 3? That might give me a little hope... maybe.

Personally I'd say Alien 3 is better than Resurrection. The reason being, Alien 3 has its heart in the right place. It tries so damn hard to capture the atmosphere of the first film. It fails pretty miserably, but points for effort. Resurrection is just a bit of a special effects fest, really. That said, it's got some interesting ideas. The script's by Joss Whedon, so it does explore some unusual ideas. It's just the execution that falls flat on its face.

I didn't like Inglourious Basterds at all. Nor Death Proof. Tarantino's lost it, in my opinion.

As for Red Dwarf: Back to Earth, I genuinely thought it was dire. For me, there wasn't a single laugh. I hate it when writers take an established TV show and have the characters discover that their just characters in a TV show. It's never any good. And the whole Blade Runner homage was just shite.

And I apologise for the entirely negative tone of this post :P

Just don't watch the recent three-parter of Red Dwarf that was made to officially finish the show. It was fucking terrible.

Anyone else think Inglourious Basterds was fucking boring?

Blace, you really need to see Shallow Grave and Trainspotting for some real Danny Boyle goodness!

Dream Theater - The Glass Prison

Thought I'd link all the AA songs into a playlist and see how it holds up. This is still my favourite of the bunch.

That's one amazing cycling jersey!

Also, I realised a while ago that I'd be UFC Light-Heavyweight. Looking at the guys I'd be up against just makes me laugh! If I actually bulked up I'd probably fight at Heavyweight!

My most recently viewed movie was My Name Is Bruce (starring Bruce Campbell). It was great. Very funny and campy. Pretty much what I expected, in the best possible way.

Really? I love Bruce Campbell with a passion, but I thought that movie was dire.
