I forgot to mention I finally tried Valkryia Chronicles and I sucked just like I thought I would.  I could not get past the stage with all those tanks.  I think I tried 6 or 7 times before I threw in the towel (I'm a quitter).  I couldn't to it before I ran out of turns.  I did like most of what I played.  I just got frustrated and stopped having fun.  It doesn't help that I've never been a  big fan is SRPGs. The  Growlanser series is the only one I like.

Well I just looked through them in an attempt to figure out what happened in summer of 09 (see number crunching thread).  Didn't find anything useful.   Apparently that's around the time when I went back to school and dropped out of sight.  I definitely post less now and seem to have lost my linguistic skills.  I know chemo brain is real.  I think it lingers after treatment too.  Like the other day I forgot the word fan and referred to it as the thing that blows air.

I've played so many games, yet I haven't posted about them.   I had to post in the completion list to try to jog my memory and still I think I missed a few.

The most recent game I beat was Murdered:  Soul Suspect.  Now being an adventure lover, I really enjoyed this game.  Mysteries are my forte.  There is a lot of collecting in this game, but it does serve a purpose and can unlock ghost stories and flesh out his relationship with is wife.  The ghost stories were my favorite part.  I would recommend it to mystery/adventure lovers.  Though don't get it for the 360.  It would stutter when making the character run.

Watchdogs was okay.   It was about a guy making bad decisions,  putting his family and allies at risk.  He really wasn't nice to the people trying to help him.  I did like that I got to change his outfits.  I discovered non-bent bills on caps really bother me.

Rune Factory:  Tides of Destiny  was not a bad game.  It wasn't as good as RF3, but that was such an awesome game it is hard to measure up.  The selection of bachelors left much to be desired, which is why I chose to stay a boy.

51. Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny -  After hearing bad things about it,  I thought I wouldn't like it.  I was pleasantly surprised that I did enjoy it.  Sure the monster do most of the farming, but you still have to cut down trees and do the mining.  Personally I play the RF series since I like to do things other than farming.
52.  Watchdogs -  it was an okay game.  The protagonist made some horrible choices throughout the game.  Sure he wanted revenge, but at what cost?  I hate driving in games so I skipped all of those side quests.  The ones I did finish were the serial killer, and auction bidders one.
53.  Murdered:  Soul Suspect - I liked it, though the demon parts could get annoying.  I think my favorite parts were the ghost stories.

5  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Recently Viewed Movies Episode 2: The Vampire Bites Back on: November 03, 2014, 10:11:46 AM
What some anime movies and both were really good.  Hotarubi no Mori e, though short, managed to make me bawl my eyes out.  I am a sucker for tales of innocent first love (see Whispers of the Heart).  Throw in some supernatural elements and a bittersweet ending, and you have a winner in my book.

A Letter to Momo had comedic elements, though it dealt with a serious issue of a girl coping with her father's death.  Sounds depressing, but it really isn't.  It's about forgiveness and family, and you will probably tear up but still feel good when the credits roll.

Happy belated b-day Grim.

Well my mom finished the first 3 rounds of chemo.  There were delays due to bad CBCs and mouth sores. At one point the mouth sores were so bad she couldn't speak.  They ended up decreasing the dosage of one of the drugs.  Her finger nails also turned black and her fingers are pealing.  She is doing better now.  The mouth sores are healing.  She is just waiting on referrals to see the surgeon and get a CAT scan.  I've been nervous lately since the surgery is coming up and that is what scares me and my mom the most.  Just have to stay positive.

Oh I also went on vacation to Branson, MO.  It was beautiful up there.  I didn't see any of the shows, it was mostly and outdoors vacation for us.  I went fishing for the first time and was the first one and only one to catch some Kentucky bass.  That was the fish we were trying to catch.  My bf and his father did catch some bluegill though.  Fishing was a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

I ended up dressing up as a ninja and my bf was a psycho lumberjack.  The ninja outfit was one of the very few non-sexy costumes I could find.  We went to a concert of a band doing 80s cover songs.  It was fun, but my bf had too much to drink and was asked by security to leave.

I found the weapon choice dictated how fun or clunky the battles were.  I chose one weapon due to the damage but it was really hard to fight with.  My character kept doing long ass combos, leaving him open to attack.  Once I got the crimson sword, combat became fun.  The water pistols weren't bad either.

43-48 are all hidden object adventure games.  I liked all but 44.  It's been awhile since I played HOGs but they seemed to have stepped up their game, 43 in particular.  It didn't have the typical junk pile scenes.

I've been craving mysteries so I fired up my computer and played some Nancy Drew games.  I also finished Akiba's Trip which was a blast btw.

Currently I am playing Rune Factory:  Tides of Destiny.  I just started so it is very slow going right now.

Is nobody playing this?  I finished the game recently and had so much fun, I actually did the new game plus and beat the game several times to see all the endings.  I have to say that Shion's route was the most interesting.  Rin was my least favorite girl.  I guess I'm not into females being tsundere.  I kinda rolled my eyes at first at al the stripping but it won me over since with was more funny than pervy.  Plus I was able to customize my clothing down to my underwear!  I'm such a clothes hound.

Well after taking over a month to finish AC:Black Flag (good game), I finally played a rpg and beat it in a week too.  I had 3 Atelier games in my to do list and finally decided to put to bed the Arland trilogy with Meruru.  I played blind and ending up with the Topsy Turvey ending.  The time management element in the game wasn't bad at all.  I hit the requirements well before the deadlines.  That said, I still didn't build up the kingdom all the way nor did I synthesize everything.  It was a fun trilogy and I can't wait to start the new one.

Oh no!  I am sorry to hear about your mom, Neal.   I'm not very athletic but if they have a Parkinson's walk/run, I will participate in your mom's honor since you so kindly biked for mine.

Well last week was a week of dr's visits.  I was so focused on my mom and dog I forgot about my appointment until they called me (I'm fine).  So my mom got her port in and she starts chemo Monday.  I am taking off work so I can be there.  She is getting 3 rounds, each lasting 21 days.  Then she will rest and have the surgery, rest again and do 3 more rounds of chemo.  She is getting chemo first in order to shrink the tumor before surgery.  Since she is getting chemo first, she doesn't get radiation.  They had wanted to do it first but the surgeon nixed that due to radiation causing a high leak rate.  Anyways she will be getting 3 drugs, one of the drugs she has to get continuously and carry around in a pack.  Due to her getting lots of fluids along with the drugs, it will be an all day thing.
My mom is strong so I am sure she can kick cancer's ass.  I am just concerned about her losing weight.  I've been taking her out in order to get some great food and fatten her up, but all I did was fatten me up.  She still weighs 95 lbs and has no buffer weight to lose.

On a high note, my brother had a healthy baby boy Friday.  He named him Hikaru after Sulu from Star Trek.  I told my bf I will follow suit and name our future kid Data.

I never realized what a headache insurance companies can be.  My mom has to wait on referrals to get appointments and procedures done.  The insurance company even denied her a PET scan and insisted that since it was stomach cancer, a CAT scan should be done instead.  My mom's surgical oncologist wants one done also so they will try to resubmit it and get the okay.  If not, I told my mom I will pay for it myself.  She did get a CAT scan and the cancer is almost through the wall.  So we were happy when the oncologist's nurse called to say my mom needs surgery and radiation but no chemo.

So my mom then goes to the surgical oncologist.  Apparently he wont know how much of the stomach needs to be removed until she is opened up on the table.  He is going to remove the lymph nodes around the area and possibly her spleen.  She is going to have a temporary feeding tube while she heals.  This is some scary stuff.  Then he tells us she is going to have chemo then radiation after the surgery.  This contradicts the oncologist, whom I am upset with since he didn't even meet with my mom after the initial consult.  We don't know what stage she is!  I told her maybe she needs to get a second opinion.  Anyways, she needs to get her heart checked out to make sure she is strong enough for the surgery.  She also needs to get another biopsy to confirm it is cancer since the surgical oncologist works for a different hospital.  So many hoops and contradicting treatment plans.

We are all trying our best to stay positive, but the surgery scares me.  I try not to think about it and instead I've been taking her out to restaurants so she can have some great meals before her surgery.
