31  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Recently Viewed Movies Episode 2: The Vampire Bites Back on: April 16, 2014, 12:14:00 AM
I bought Little Mermaid on Blu-Ray and recently watched it with my bf's niece and I can honestly say I still love it.  "Part of Your World" is my personal favorite with "Kiss the Girl" close behind.  "Under the Sea" is my bf's favorite.  So it had three songs I still sing 25 years later...holy crap that was a long time ago.  I had to google the release date.  Damn I feel old.  Who knows.  Maybe 25 years later adults will be singing "Let It Go. "

Anyways I see The Little Mermaid as being a story about being born in the wrong body and finding the freedom to be who you were truly meant to be.  Of course that is my adult take on it.  I don't think the kid thought about it.

Frozen -  I thought I would like it more than I did.  I know kids across America are singing Let  It Go, but I wasn't enthralled with the music.   It just isn't as good as The Little Mermaid or the other Disney movies I grew up on.  Maybe I'm just older and not into singing animated movies.

I never played the Shadow Hearts games, believe it or not.

You are missing out.  I liked the dark gothic setting mixed with whacky characters and weapons.

Actually I was curious myself and went to look and it isn't bad.  Someone was giving impressions and said the dating part had repeated dialogue making it mechanical and lifeless.

Just read the review on the front page and I'm disappointed it fell flat.  So how bad is the innuendo?  Is it on par with Ar Tonelico or worse?  I can handle AT's sexualization only because the cosmospheres make the game worthwhile.

Finally beat Fate/Extra.  The 7th round boss only took two tries.  The final boss took only once.  The last guy was so easy since I hadn't used any elixirs until that battle.  I  just kept using them so I could spam special attacks.  The game itself was not bad.  I didn't really care for the battle system.  The difficulty of the game was weird.  It started off easy then when round 4 hit, even random encounters could kill you.  The game stressed watching for patterns, wearing the right gear, and preemptive healing.  The investigations to e rank the matrix of your opponents were the best part of the game.  You really had to know your enemy in order to beat them.  Overall it was a decent game.

Aww.  I'm a cat person myself.  My cat of 19 years died a few years ago and it broke my heart.  I will probably own another cat, but it is too soon right now.

From the first Youtube video Kevadu linked:

Overpopulation has become such an issue that a drastic measure has been implemented: anyone arrested for any crime is found guilty, regardless of whether or not they actually are, and forced to battle giant monsters as punishment. Defeating the monsters, known as "Abductors" because they capture civilians, reduces the Criminals' sentences.

people just can't keep their pants on, dammit!!!!!!!!

This makes no sense.  Why kill monsters when they can keep the human population in check?

Don't forget the blood moon is happening now.  I only have binoculars but it is worth checking out.

Went crazy with the napa cabbage tonight.  Made a Cantonese-style stir-fry shrimp with napa cabbage dish.  I added some sweet chili sesame oil in addition to the regular sesame oil it called for.  Also I doubled the sauce since I love to mix the sauce into my rice at  end of the meal.  Well doubling it called for 1 teaspoon of pepper.  I also ate some Kim-chee on the side.  Needless to say I had a box of tissue next to me at the dinner table.

Congrats Dincrest on the promising musical opportunities, Klyde on winning, and Bytor for the free food!
I won $50 at a casino playing nickel slots, trying to kill sometime and validate a parking ticket.

So the other night I stayed at work till 2am covering an unexpectedly sick coworker.  I found out there is a big difference between lounging on the couch till 2 and working till 2.  Anyways she felt bad and bought me a half gallon of cookies and cream ice-cream.  Now she had no idea I am lactose intolerant and I stupidly chose to ignore it.  I went crazy and ate double what I can handle.  So by 3 am I am doubled over and decide the only way to feel better is to throw up.  It worked except I was all snotty and congested by vomiting that I couldn't breathe and had to wait for some decongestants to kick in to fall asleep.  Fun night.

Just finished Mirror's Edge (ios runner version) and the ending was really abrupt.  I had go to the main menu and see if there was a way to purchase/unlock levels.  If the console version of ME was just as abrupt/unresolved, I can see why people are excited about the sequel.
