I'm sure the reviews will start coming out soon.  Make your decision then.

Has anyone seen any reviews on this yet? I checked Gamerankings, and theres nothing at all. I find this odd, as most games have lots of reviews posted at release time.
As I'm only interested in the off-line portion, reviews are pretty important to me on this one.

I'm with you on the importance of the off-line portion of the game.  Game-brink has a review, but it mostly focuses on the online part.  I've been doing a lot of internet surfing, checking various forums and what not.  From what I gather, the offline part (story mode) is around 20-30hrs.  Many are stressing that the online part of the game is "where it's at" and that the offline part mainly serves to get players aquainted with the controls for the online part.

Touch Detective -  I solved one case already (there are a total of 4 cases with a bonus stage).  I love the art style; it's freaky and cute all at the same time.  As for the cases, the one case I worked on was pretty zany (stolen dreams), so having to do weird stuff seems okay to me since the world and characters are all off the wall.

My god.  Why did I believe you?  I really did think it would be a feel good story.

You've been here long enough to know better than that. :P

Honestly, I thought you were showing the softer, gentler side of yourself.  Silly me.  :P

It depends on what kind of games you like.  I started off as a point and click adventure game player so this was right up my alley.  Personally I loved the game and I refuse to part with my copy.

547  The Rest / General Discussions / Wii pre-orders start tomorrow! on: October 26, 2006, 12:09:13 PM
I'm really looking forward to the Wii and I have no problem looking like a dork.  It's not like I'm going to be the only one looking like one while I'm playing.  Also I'm not going to play it with my curtains wide open so people can see me so I don't see what the big deal is.

I'm going to pick it up today and play it this week.  I'll let you guys know what I think.
549  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Anyone playing Baten Kaitos Origins? on: October 25, 2006, 12:03:06 PM
I own a copy but have yet to play it.  Right now with the deluge of RPGs, it has fallen onto the back burner.  I do plan on playing it before the end of the year.

I think Dice is the only one that has played/is playing it.  I think she too enjoyed it.
550  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Completed RPGs of 2006 on: October 24, 2006, 01:05:17 PM
RPGs:
WA:ACF
WA4
DDS2
Grandia III
Oblivion
Metal Saga (twice, but not really)
Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny
Shadow Hearts: From the New World
Kingdom Hearts II
Dragon Quest VIII
Devil Summoner

Adventure games:
Phoenix Wright
The Moment of Silence
Nibiru: Age of Secrets
Scratches
Crime Stories
Keepsake (sorta)
Nancy Drew: Danger By Design
Touch Detective

Finished Devil Summoner at around 43 hrs.  It could have been finished sooner if I hadn't level grinded so much.  The game is the easiest of the SMT I have played.  I did die a couple times, but those deaths only occurred in the optional training hall where I did the 100 demon fights.  I mostly died because I wasn't paying attention to my health or my demon's health.  With careful monitoring, you shouldn't ever die.

The battle system isn't everyone's cup of tea.  I found it was murder on my arthritic hands but I kept playing since I loved the demon fusion part of the game.

Okay people, what's the verdict?  I was thinking of picking this one up tomorrow but I need to know opinions.  Thanks in advance.

Devil Summoner -  Beat it, clocking in around 43 hrs.

Is it good?  Nope.  It's freaking great.  Get it now.
554  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army on: October 23, 2006, 12:58:17 PM
Some people have finished it at 20hrs.  I've been taking time to level up my demons, fuse them to get even better demons, and then level them up.  So yeah, a lot of my time has been spent in the training halls so my time isn't exactly representative of everyone else unless they are super anal about these things.  I'm in the last chapter and in the 43 hr mark.

Devil Summoner - I'm in the last episode and plan on wrapping this sucker up tonight. This game is killing my hands.  I must finish soon.
