I picked up the newest volumes of Hot Gimmick, Hana Kimi, Hana Yori Dango,  and Kare First Love.  I haven't read Hot Gimmick yet since the romantic pairing isn't what I want it to be.

Anyways, I watched the movie NANA.  I'm not familiar with the manga or the anime series so I'm not sure how they compare.  I just know that I thought the movie was very enjoyable.

I reread (skimmed) through Mars since I watched the live action Tawainese drama.  It was actually pretty good.  I didn't see it all since I could only find a few that were subbed.  I must say that the lead actors have gotten better since Meteor Garden which I am also watching at the moment.  I love Hana Yori Dango so I have to see the whole series.  I did end up watching the Japanese version of HYD and loved it.  The girl who plays Makino is so cute.  Unfortunately I didn't find any of the guys attractive except maybe Soujiro.  Anyways, MG is following very closely to the manga while HYD condenses events in the manga.  So far, I like the Japanese version better since it doesn't drag and is really funny and has better production values.
333  The Rest / General Discussions / All time favourite game characters. on: March 08, 2006, 11:49:35 AM
Bebedora (AtL:TotS)- For a game that was less than stellar with some boring characters (Kharg), it did manage to have stand out characters like Bebedora and Darc.  She wins my affections because she's so weird,  a tad clueless, and a bit morbid.  Designed for evil purposes, she is actually a cute deimos (see my avatar) who has a tendency to just say what is on her mind much to the dismay of the other party members.  You've got to love a character whose weapon is a stuffed bunny rabbit.   The great voice acting for her also cements my love her.   Her romantic pairing in the game is one of my favorites in any game.

Murray (Monkey Island)  -  Okay I must have a thing for creatures that try to be or are created to be evil and they just aren't.  Murray thinks he is the most evil bad ass thing ever; too bad he's just a talking skull.  I love his trash talking since that's all he can really do.

Fruits Basket I found cute as an anime, but I didn't like the ending. Too rushed, and done while the manga was still developing. Let me know how it progresses Nuri, I've been searching for a sensible opinion on it (which is rare supply these days thanks to all the Furuba fangirls).

I've been keeping up with the Fruits Basket manga here so I can give  you my opinion if you want it.  I am a fan of the series/manga but my love the series isn't anywhere near the obession displayed by people like the infamous Sepiroth fangirl.

Anyways, the first few volumes of the manga are very much like the series.  There are a few scenes/side stories like Tohru thinking back to when she was a child and was lost.  Apparently she met one of the Sohmas as a child.  Now after the first few volumes of the manga, the sequence of events in the series is different.  For instance the dramatic events with Kyo occurred before some of the lighter everyday stuff in the series.  I'll have to look at the books later (I'm a at work) to give you specifics if you want.  Also Shigure is portrayed as a carefree hentai in the series, but the manga hints at a darker side to him.  You can tell he's plotting something.  What remains to be seen though.  Also you are introduced to the remaining cursed members of the family.

Oh also the romantic pairing is becoming clearer.  It's leaning the way I want it to thankfully.
